The GOP and oligarchs don't care about WATCHING child porn. They want to personally HAVE IT. And they've done it in the past, they currently do, and will continue in the future. If you vote for Republicans, you're basically fine with it (or you're so delusional, you wouldn't believe it if you saw the video yourself.

wow..I need to think on that..give me a couple of minutes.

10 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 4

Pretty sure this is all a Project 2025 thing to kickstart making lgbtq+ illegal.

10 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I think that banning anything creates less of it so this argument is not so great, however "fuck that we're not saudi arabia" should be the main argument.

The Tylenol didn't redact its own 'tism

Isn't this happening in a few places around the world now? I thought England was flirting with the idea as well.

A ban on porn - one that's largely done by individuals and doesn't actually kill anyone - vs a non-ban on RWNJ White Nationalist and White Supremacist hate and terror groups like MAGA, the KKK, Proud Boys, etc - that primarily harms and kills thousands of people on a yearly basis? Something's not quite right with that, IMO. Could it be that the same ones who are writing that BS law, are the same ones who are allies with the more harmful group? Methinks that that is so, FFS.....

Legalizing porn didn’t stop illegal porn either.

10 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

Banning porn is just about making a thing that almost everyone consumes illegal, then they have an excuse to jail people. When people they like have it, it will conveniently not apply.

10 months ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 0

What exactly does the ban say, can't be just an outright ban

10 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

10 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It is an outright ban lol there goes another freedumb

10 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

it says it bans anything that could be harmful to children. which leaves it hugely up to interpretation.

10 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Surely it's a list that includes guns?

10 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

The "YOU CAN'T BAN GUNS" crowd sure like to ban stuff.

10 months ago | Likes 43 Dislikes 1

Porn doesn't have its own amendment to the constitution. Go read it..... wait, what is this well regulated militia part? Does that mean something? Naw that can't be important. Let's forget about that. Guns for everyone!!!

10 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

If you ban guns then only the criminals will have them. Same argument can be made here, right? Only criminals will make the porn and since they are already criminals

10 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

The only thing stopping bad guys with porn is a good guy with porn

10 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

What? This is a stupid connection. Porn (main stream, legal porn) is not connected to CP. Banning porn doesn't make people who watch porn suddenly into pedophiles. What kind of argument is this?
Banning porn is most likely a social control mechanism geared toward effecting/changing a lot of ancillary issues, but mostly just another "thing" to put people in jail for, if you want to punish someone and they haven't done anything else wrong. "Porn. They looked at porn. 20 years!"

Pushing activities into the dark means that there are no controls about age.

10 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Similar to how making pot illegal made it harder for underage people to get pot. Or so I've heard. I've not talked to an underage person about pot use for close to 30 years now.

10 months ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 1

Semi-related: have a lot of 15-19 y/o cousins, in their friend groups it's trendy to buy shitty street weed. There's a weird myth that dispensary weed sucks

10 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I admit I am way out of touch, but it is my understanding that it has become really good if you have the cash.

10 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Underage people are having zero problems getting pot, and booze and cigarettes and guns, not today not ever

10 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Making weed illegal was not to stop use, but to make being Black illegal. Making porn illegal is not to stop people watching porn, but to make being non-straight illegal

10 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

For profit prison systems must be fed.

10 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

This is not how it works. This is not how it ever works. If you believe something it is your obligation to prove it true. In court, people are innocent until proven guilty. Ideas on the other hand are wrong until proven right.

10 months ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 2

Agreed for the most part (burden of proof, Hitchen's razor), but courts deal in guilty or not guilty and we need to get comfortable with "that claim is unproven, I don't know if it's true or false." Once you say something is wrong, you've taken on burden of proof and that's the trap

10 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yeah, if everyone had intellectual curiosity and a desire to promote the common welfare, this would matter. The guys in charge have no goal except to stomp on people they hate.

10 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Nah man Porn is addictive and causes mental illness. Prohibition isn’t the best thing to do, but something had to be done

10 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 7

You aren't addicted to porn, you're addicted to the dopamine release.

10 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Hick comment. You’re not addicted to crack, you’re just hooked on thr serotonin release

10 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Alcohol causes more problems you ain't banning that are you? Mobile phone's and brain rot apps for scrolling cause more problems you ain't banning phones are you?

10 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Phones are tools, and serve a purpose. Alcohol should be banned, porn should be banned

10 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 3

Phones are not tools the massive companies made it so you can't do without because for most its an addiction. And if you think you can ban alcohol and porn you haven't learned from the past you can't ban these things it will never ever work you legit can't.

10 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Fine I give you that: Prohibition proves ineffective. Yet we shouldn’t underestimate the dangers of addiction - be it porn or alcohol or whatever else

10 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Legit porn sites do the vetting for actual ILLEGAL porn (underaged, revenge porn, etc). In other words, if you make ALL porn illegal, then the really bad stuff will be just as illegal as the vanilla, generic porn. And if pirated content becomes the norm, then the bad stuff will be mixed in and nobody will be able to tell, so people's horney teenagers will unknowingly download stuff that can get them arrested?

10 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

We already had that; it was called "Limewire". Well, not the part where all porn was illegal, but the part with the illegal stuff being mixed in so you couldn't tell.

10 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Exactly. It will just come back.

10 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Pretty sure the porn ban is about creating the the basis for the legal framework to make being LGBTQ illegal. It's literally in Project 2025.

10 months ago | Likes 190 Dislikes 1

It can be 2 things

10 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Two birds one stone.

10 months ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

My school district had sweeping cellphone bans. It's actually anti trans. Have a phone in the bathroom is grounds for expulsion, truancy officers increased. Be trans, "wrong" bathroom, get expelled, go to jail.

It's not 'teachers can now take away phones during class' it's 'having phones in school bathrooms is a crime that even minors can commit' absolutely unhinged.

It's also to control the populace in general. Ban porn and birth control. Forces more folks to get married, and crank out kids whether they want to or not. COVID taught companies they want a desperate, over-populated working class that has no negotiation power. You have to start making basic human functions illegal in order to control people; make them feel guilty for just being human. Make it illegal to help others, to fornicate, etc.

10 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Believe me they've wanted this long before covid. But you're right.

10 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Trump just signed a new executive order that effectively labels LGBTQ as terrorists.

10 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

A reminder that Project 2025 identifies all trans people as sexual predators and then, later, calls for the execution of all sexual predators... it is a genocide doc.

10 months ago | Likes 70 Dislikes 0

It's wild how little protection the US apparently has against this sort of thing. If you released a document like that in say, Germany, you'd have federal agents knocking real fast.

10 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The US actually protects no one, except gun owners...

10 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

And it's almost complete.

10 months ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 2

https://www.msnbc.com/opinion/msnbc-opinion/project-2025-porn-ban-lgbtq-transgender-rcna161562

A reminder that a lot of Project 2025 is about creating subtextual links, they do A, B and C, and then we label D a thing that must be annihilated... for example, it wants to expand the death penalty for child rape and then describes Drag Queens as obscene and a cultural threat and defines pornography, using deliberately vague language to ensure broad interpretation and permission for abuse by govt

10 months ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 0

A lot of vague language gets used surrounding queer people so that it can be arbitrarily enforced. It starts with demonizing trans people and ends with genital inspections for everyone. What you let happen to other people, you let happen to yourself.

So, I have been directly challenged for not being in an unprivileged group, why do I care about those people.

Cuz I have read the fucking poem... but more importantly, I give a shit about people and they should be allowed to live their lives and they can all pee next to me (TBH, I am not sure how I would notice, I don't generally stare into someone else's urinal while they pee).
