It is complicated and not fully settled. There is precedent that truth is not always a defense against libel and slander, but that case (Noonan v. Staples) did not argue first amendment protections, under which the prevailing legal _theory_ is that truth would be complete defense, but there is no fully court tested precedent on that theory. So. It's complicated, but probably not slander or libel.
