How can anyone be that stupid/ignorant? By being a Republican Congressman.

Yeah, when the framers wrote the constitution, they never envisioned fully automatic weapons either. Be careful what basis you use for argument there mister "the constitution is up for debate."

They aren’t chasing talking points. They’re chasing eradication of “the others.”
And their supporters LOVE them for it.
People need to stop pretending otherwise.

He's very clearly saying "illegal brown people" don't deserve due process.

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Nobody should be surprised by this. This is who the american terrorist-right has ALWAYS been. They're just not afraid to show it anymore.

But they goddamn should be.

1 year ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I dunno if we deserve better, everyone vote not for a responsible Democrat is a vote for this shit. Not voting is voting

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That's the point of the constitution. It doesn't easily change based on the current problem.

It's your guidance to solve problems and protect people from convenient solutions.

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

America 🇺🇸 s fucked.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That's a bit unfair. They're not just performing for applause. They're lining their own pockets with "donations" and insider trading too.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yall think you deserve better but you really don’t, do you ?
For 50+ years you’ve let the conservatives among you flourish so you have exactly what you deserve.
Conservatism is a mental disorder that results from being uninformed, uneducated and lazy. It’s NOT the fault of immigration you’re screwed it’s capitalism which has gutted your country. Wankers like Byron and the rest of the republicans are all traitors to your country and your constitution.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

guess the rest of us should have just been gunning down republicans in the street this whole time. imgurians outside the US have some fucked up expectations.

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The immigration system? MBIC, the Founding Fathers WERE immigrants!

1 year ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Not only that, but there’s no “immigration problem” other than the sabotages gov systems that republicans constantly destroy by underfunding.

Immigrants are a huge net positive in America, historically and even moreso today because of economics and labor.

There is no problem, other than vicious racism against immigrants.

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Republicans MO is to kind of be a moron. Whether it's real or faked, they do it regardless.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

People's ignorance has ceased to surprise me.

1 year ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

It's long past 'ignorance' and well into 'active and deliberate omnicidal malevolence'

1 year ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Good news then! If there is a problem with the constitution, you can amend it. There is a process for that. But you cant just ignore the thing.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Actually you can ignore it. Institutions are made of people, and those people are corrupt criminals if they’re republicans. Meanwhile the republicans on Supreme Court refused to even say that all laws apply to the president like anyone else. Trump has massively purged DOJ, FBI, military leadership, while outright destroying various federal agencies that served the public benefit.

An INSURRECTIONIST was allowed to run and take presidency. Clearly banned in the constitution.

Emoluments etc

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

But the 2nd amendment is sacrosanct….

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

He was trying to say that it never occurred to the framers that there would ever be this large a body of people seeking due process in the justice system all at once, and he's correct in that respect, but the volume wouldn't have negated the framers' intent to bestow due process to ALL.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

“Large volume” is BS and FUD. There is no problem other than the usual thing where republicans gutted funding from public government systems.

Immigrants are fine and also vital to economy/labor. There’s no problem with numbers. That’s an administrative processing fail.

If one pizza guy commits a crime we don’t go around like “the PIZZA GUY PROBLEM!” But one immigrant commits a crime and then.

It’s called racism.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yes, there is a numbers problem that's the result by Trump's stated intent to deport every illegal. Their numbers are, in fact, too massive for the system to deal with if, in fact, the plan is actually carried out. Unfortunately, though, the numbers "problem" is being used to "justify" the denial of due process to a very small number of people.

In the 1780's, the US wanted to encourage immigration , because most of the 13 colonies were unsettled and underdeveloped. The US consumer economy depends on growth, and to have a growing economy, you also must have a growing population. Immigrants are one of the main reasons that the US has been the very best place to invest since the end of WWII. Trump uses immigrants in the same way Hitler used Jews.

As always they are not stupid in the sense that they genuinely believe the shit they say. They know it’s all gibberish and they don’t care. The only real message is “we’ll make it your right to be a completely terrible person” and that’s all their voters care about.

1 year ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

these guys wouldn't know the constitution if it came up and bit them in the ass. and if it did, they'd deport it.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

But the 2nd amendment is ok b/c the framers would be ok with semi-automatic weapons killing our school children!? :o(

1 year ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

"Clowns performing for applause" !

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Americans are complacent and pacified to the point that I fear there is no will to defend themselves against fascism. The Nazis won.

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They pick and choose the parts they like and disregard the rest.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

When the constitution was written, he wasn't considered fully human, and the founders could not have envisioned that he could sit in the house of representatives. I'm trying to describe his level of stupidity, but words fail me.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Some day we'll stop being so surprised that they are acting in bad faith. Some day. Right?

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

He's a troll who's auditioning to be the next governor of Florida.

1 year ago | Likes 70 Dislikes 0

Got bad news for that guy.

1 year ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

He's absolutely got too much of a melanin surplus for Republicans to rally behind

1 year ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

He got elected. By people. He represents people who are as uneducated as he is.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Agree with the sentiment but OMG could we work on the obnoxious messaging? All you need is a “POV:” and “Read Until The End!” to complete this.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I don’t know what you mean by the POV and Read Until The End thing

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

So, I guess the right is ready to discuss the changes to America since the Bill of Rights? You know, like the fact that we no longer need militias or that the framers never anticipated AR15 style guns?

1 year ago | Likes 47 Dislikes 1

But mah guns!

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Lol, no.

1 year ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

It's like the bible. They cherry pick the bits they like and totally ignore all the stuff they don't.

1 year ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I'd be happy with them acknowledging the words "well regulated" were not some meaningless, vestigial appendage Jacob Shallus forgot to delete from an earlier draft.

1 year ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

I'd be happy for them to admit a militia was literally a "state army" which was meant to defend a state from invasion by another. The founders did not want interstate wars, like Europe had, so they wanted to disallow a state from forbidding firearms (the main defense of the day) so as to make that state a sitting duck. Clearly, the national guard are state armies now, but further, generally unnecessary for that purpose. But no, the Second Amendment "purists" would never admit that.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Because there was no "immigration system" when the founders were alive. You just had to set foot on the territory.

1 year ago | Likes 314 Dislikes 0

You also had to kill all the natives and steal their shit, oh wait look at that, we were the baddies. The immigration system was "take what you want from the people living there." Sounds like a bunch of criminals moving into the country and stealing it.

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

And if there had been a proper one, the first nations would still rule and none of this shit would've happened.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Right - the framers were too busy with slavery and native genocide to worry about immigration. Wild that you would want to exclude anyone from constitutional rights.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Also, many framers were immigrants.

1 year ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

"CoMe HerE the RiGhT WaY"

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Is no one going to mention that besides the fact that the founding of the US was on “virgin soil” (it wasn’t, of course) and that in order to fill the country with people they had to immigrate here? JFC how is any person of color a republican.

1 year ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

Republicans cause a problem Dems dont campaign on, then turn around and state "Elect us and we'll fix [Issue]!!!"

Repeat every 5 years.

1 year ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

The founders enjoyed wide open borders.

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Also, the framers didn't hate immigrants to the level that they're being hated by the republicans.

1 year ago | Likes 78 Dislikes 1

The framers WERE immigrants.

1 year ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

Well no, they were colonizers/rebels. They didn't formally emigrate from one country to another, they created a country and declared it independent from their previous one.

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

colonizers in a land with people already there... also known as immigrants.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

That's not what an immigrant is dude. As I literally just said.

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

There was already a country here. They just formed another country on top of the existing one. So it's even worse than immigrants. But still they're immigrants.

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It mostly depended on if you were a white male from Europe or not. Hate might not be the right word, but it was casually agreed to give some less rights than others and women just had to go along with their husbands.

1 year ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 0

And if you were a white male from Europe, you better not be Irish, Italian, or Eastern European. And god help you if you're French, spanish or Portuguese. Scots could fuck right off.. Oh and don't even think about it if you're English, since they just finished a war against the English.

1 year ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

That came a lot later. At the start it was more against poor/indentured and religious intolerance

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Who's left then, Welsh, Germans, and Scandinavians?

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It’s funny the bigots loved immigration when the law Said you can treat immigrants as slaves because they weren’t the right kind of white but now that you can’t treat a chinaman like a slave and work him to death on the railroad immigration bad..

1 year ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Let’s be real there were some unwritten lines in how America read the poem on the Statue of Liberty.

Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, (and we will be happy to work them to death)

Now that it’s harder to work them to death just because their skin isn’t white enough or cause they aren’t the right type of white there’s so much push back against immigration.
