I did NAZI that coming. (jk... anyone who didn't see that coming was a fool.)

Remind them who they work for: https://blackoutthesystem.com/

9 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They'll block it for now, then delay taking the issue up until March and then they'll go "Well we can't overturn anything now, it's too close to primaries / elections!" It's the usual Republican playbook.

Here's the thing - If the Supreme Court ignores all legal precedence and equal justice, voted to allow bribes for itself, and can choose all manner of corrupt "laws" to allow fascism to destroy the country's government, why obey it? All laws only exist by the consent of the governed or by the rule of force. Stop consenting to their rule of force.

Sam Alito strikes again.

9 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

As was foretold

9 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This isn't quite accurate. This was a preliminary ruling that is done by ONE SCOTUS by himself and not the full SCOTUS. So this wasn't SCOTUS that ruled but Alito, one of the traitors to the constitution currently on SCOTUS.

Alito is probably the worst of the bunch right now. He'd love a real life Gideon. Fuck him.

"We have discovered this congressional map is racist."
"What? We forbid this from being true!"

Something something states rights and small government

Listen closer:

"STATE'S RIGHTS when it's in our favor..."

They usually omit that second part, but it always applies.

Interesting, usually they stop something from being allowed until the appeal gets a court ruling. This seems to ignore that typical stance, so that something questionable and potentially illegal can continue in favor of Republicans by a Republican leaning Supreme Justice.

9 months ago | Likes 105 Dislikes 0

they got a year to rule on it before the next election so it makes no difference until then.

Primaries are in March.

9 months ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

But hey, at least Hillary wasn't elected. So this is really the best possible outcome.

yeah yeah we've heard about trumps emails. But what about her emails just being on an insecure server?!

9 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I mean, can you imagine? A woman? So emotional, she would've thrown international tantrums about trivialities like a malfunctioning escalator. And vindictive, she would have used the justice system to persecute critics. And let's not forget her horrible record on corruption and security, she would sold the country to the highest bidder or accidentally leaked secret information out of sheer incompetence.

Good thing the American voters made sure you don't have to worry about any of that. /s

Don’t forget a woman would probably start wars or instigate trouble in other countries for absolutely no reason or lack of control of their emotions….

I can’t stand the guy… just listening to him puts me in a shitty mood….

anyone wanna bet that they leave the california map change alone instead of obviously showing their bias?

9 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

Remember, the California map redraw was voted on and approved by the voters. Not rammed through by the state legislature. They valued the voters choice not telling the voters what they think is best like Texas.

9 months ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

right, which is exactly why this piece of shit line up of supreme clowns is going to take issue with the california map. The authoritarian nutjobs just hate anyone who dares to actually listen to or value the citizens and constituents.

9 months ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Doesn't really matter. They'll probably find some meaningless justification for striking the CA map down while upholding whatever garbage the pedophile states get up to.

I want to go slap everyone who spent 2024 smugly telling me it was more important to send a message to the Democrats about Gaza than it was keeping the literal fascist out of the Oval Office.

The insufferable bOtH sIdEs lot…

9 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I think the main problem with each party's voters is that too many GOP voters think their guy is infallible, and too many dem voters demand that theirs be.

9 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Well here's a repeat from 2016,

9 months ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

Roe overturned? And Trump bragged about it? Too bad ladies, I've got a STATEMENT to make! What's that? Trump will be objectively worse for the Palestinians? Fuck off, Palestinians. I've got to let the Democrats know I don't like the way they're treating the Palestinians! Hoo boy, my farts smell delicious. I'm a left wing voter, and I'm better than you! /s

9 months ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

In our two party system, sending a message to the less evil party only backfires on you. The Gaza war was kept going by Trump/Bibi because they knew that they could force Dems to own the horrible killing and Dems were trapped. Go against Israel before an election has always been deadly. Just doing nothing wipes off your college lefties. Now you're dead. To sum up: Trump pushed a genocide that killed Harris. Brilliant and horrible. So: always vote against the most evil choice or....

9 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Yep. It was obvious and I tried explaining it to people but they would just shriek "I AM NOT VOTING FOR GENOCIDE". Some of them have spent the time desperately trying to help the Palestinians, most simply refuse to talk politics anymore.

9 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

You could watch it happening live, and you could see Trump basically outsmarting the "smart people" for the months leading up to the election. He had help from Israel, but he is president because the left took the bait.

I want things my lawyer has advised me not to express.

Seriously. Actually, I want things I try to push out of my mind because even I don't like me being that kind of human. But I definitely want them

Inb4 they let them keep their shitty racist maps and it ends up being a dummymander anyway.

9 months ago | Likes 38 Dislikes 3

Is a dummymander when you fuck up a gerrymander and actually lose votes?

9 months ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Yeah, you try to dilute the opposition vote to create more seats but every individual seat is a bit less secure so any kind of wave election ends up hurting you more than it would otherwise.

9 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

9 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Or better yet, pissing off so many that the gerrymandering just doesn't work at all. Like not a spectacular backfire, just so many leftist votes that they can cover up the losses.

9 months ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 2

I don't think you understand how Gerrymandering works. It is not a total vote. Its about isolating sections of the state into groups. Whoever wins the groups get 1 collective electoral vote. Then like most states whoever wins the majority vote of those collective electoral votes gets all of them. Yes it is very stupid. The electoral college was specifically made so those in power could keep the will of the masses in check as a safety measure. At the time good. Nowadays its only abused.

9 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

This has nothing to do with the Electoral College. These are specifically congressional maps.

9 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

As I said in another comment: if people get complacent, they might be so sure they're gonna win, then they don't vote. The other side turns out and wins. I've seen it happen.

Doesn't really matter how you divvy it up, if less than 1/4 of your side votes, and 90% of the opponent's side votes, unless you've built up one hell of a supermajority.

9 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

if 70% of all democrate leaning voters live in 1 disctrict all they have to do is fit them all in the same district. Then no matter how many democrats show up the state will still be full red.

9 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

See "supermajority". I didn't mean in just number of voters, I also meant by district. And outside of the wide open spaces states, it's hard to divide them up like that.

9 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Gerrymandering basically means putting most voters of party X in some districts and distributing the rest carefully across the rest of districts so that they're like 49% X, 51% Y. Which is an extremely dangerous game because it's easy enough to miscalculate and actually have all those 49% turned into 51% on many districts.

9 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Yes, I know, but just like when people assumed Kamala was gonna win, so they didn't vote (I know a few that were so certain they just didn't bother to vote)

9 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Ugh. Tell them I said they're fucking idiots.
