MAID is Medical Assistance in Dying. It's basically the death-panel argument from when Obama passed the ACA. It's not true. Only people who want to die this way are eligible. I would never trade our system for America's. Healthcare is a human right.

Our real problem is we have allowed Big Pharma to take control of the health industry, and coupled with Big Health Insurers, nothing is ever gonna change that.

Just an FYI, the US spends $10,611 per capita already on health care. Medicare and Medicaid included. And it doesn't cover ANYTHING. Canada spends $8327( in CAD so basically $7000 USD) per capita and it covers virtually everything. For everyone. Pregnancy? Instead of 5-20k it's covered. Broken limb? Instead of 2-10k it's covered. Cancer? Covered. Dental? Covered. Optical? Partially covered. God it must suck to pay as much in taxes as us (which you do) and get nothing in return.

Free healthcare isn't free, it is paid for though tax.
Many people don't seem to get that in the US, they seem to think that the Government will just give people free healthcare for nothing. Which seems like that's the main thing that drives them against it.
When really they take a couple dollars at most in tax from every person and that ensures that every single person has health coverage regardless of medical conditions, and employment and insurance coverage.

argument against it is that poors and immigrants will get it too. If it was free for just their own race and cultural and religious circle then there is basically zero pushback to it in the USA. Literally survey after survey, free healthcare as long as the people they hate don't benefit from it.

If you ask them that’s different cuz “those people paid into that system their entire lives”. It’s the same tired excuse for why social security is OK but things like assistance for people who are under- or un-employed needs to be means tested. SS is welfare - don’t believe me? There’s two SCOTUS rulings in the 50s literally call SS a tax up front and welfare on the back. Congress can LITERALLY end the welfare part (which they’ll grandfather anyone prob aged 55 and up into) and keep the tax.
