I don't want to be the one to say this but I needed to. I'm like the only English competent person in my new department and it is extremely frustrating to have to go back between coworkers, customers, and my actual duties to translate. God forbid I talk about it because I'll be bombarded with xenophobic accusations and American nationalism like the last guy that brought it up. Rant over

If a company needs somebody they'll get somebody

The employer, i think, should also know who theyre biring to do the job. Youre only complaining about the ones YOU have to work with, see.

Well if the education system in America was better we could have more people proficient in important and more bilingual people.

That sentence makes no sense, mate.
AeonQuasars
Imo every people who want to live or work in a different country should learn the native language. Integrate and communicate.
AeonQuasars
This also goes for English people as well. You want to work in Brazil? Well then you should learn Portuguese asap.
Jayhatesspidersandshit

wouldstilldoit

zma123456
Or course. It gets frustrating when speaking to someone who doesn't speak English. Especially in work place it can be very annoying.

Still at work bro
DeadlyEnzyme
Well he did clarify that you only needed to comprehend some English. Poor spelling and grammar falls in that criteria
woodjoiner
U don't need to write perfectly in order to understand the language at a basic level. OP didn't ask for perfect language skills, just basic.

I don’t go to Italy or France to work even though I’d like to. Cause I don’t know the native language at all
capnsebastian
Lmfao what the fuck. Those guys have a lot of English too. Have you even tried to be sure? What if you go as an English teacher?
daanibf79
That's the exact reason why you don't go to Italy or France to work? Seems like a lazy excuse. Get up and go!
DeadlyEnzyme
I’m taking Italian Rosetta Stone
SamArt53
Did she also refuse to sit at the back of the bus?
AxelYamanaka
After you're done with that will you use a good language learning tool?
eion85
You should avoid calling English the "native language" of the US.
DeadlyEnzyme
Last I checked. I didn’t mention Even mention the English language. It would be inaccurate for me to not call Italian and French native
eion85
Very well, you should avoid the implication that English is the native language of the US.
DeadlyEnzyme
It’s the dominant language but seeing as how I was speaking of two languages native to the two countries I mentioned...
DeadlyEnzyme
I mean you can make the mental jump from “native” to “dominant” yes? The parallel was close enough to be relevant
