Try to go the the gates of a Texan and ask in Thailandese translated to English by a cellphone if he can cook for you and count how many seconds before he pulls out a gun.
Thai food in Thailand (with access to the insanely fresh ingredients and regional flavors) is some of the best food in the world. I doubt two traveling influencers will make a better dinner than a Thai family that knows where to source things from
I have never had authentic Thai food made at home, but the fast food places labeling themselves as Thai cuisine at the local malls have unanimously been a let-down. I know there is a great difference between rubbery rice drying under heat lamps for three hours versus what you get out of the pot mum makes at home, seasoned with better herbs, spices and oil
I fully agree. I am looking for some recommendations on where to go to find good Thai food. Conversely, I have found some great Iranian Shawarma and Greek Souvlaki places while trying the same model of mall restaurants across the city and sometimes even other cities. Maybe we just have a stronger middle eastern and eastern european community here than we do south-east asian ones?
I don't know where you are from but I'm Australian and even if three other Australian's rocked up to my house and wanted to cook something for me I'd tell them to piss off let alone people I'd need google translate to understand
I mean, I go to restaurants too but if three random people showed up out of nowhere and tried using an app to tell me they wanted to come in and cook for me, I'd be pretty damn skeptical too.
You can obviously tell they're tourists from abroad looking to share cultural differences and get to know the people. This is the type of thing Anthony Bourdain would have celebrated.
BadBoyBoris
Yeah... but... how did they understand before google translated?
aeroldoth
That australian guy is wearing too much shirt. He needs to take that off.

This was well needed. Thank you for posting. Have this +1 as a thanks

To be ENTIRELY fair this is a city street, by the looks of things, so maybe an apartment in Houston or something

He even did his lips like that.
CleverArt7
I heard there are translation buds also you dont need google translation or anything, you dont need to be online either.
MySushi
I would be super pissed if they did not call them Babel fish

What he maybe missed out on:
Sanivia
spongebob for dinner
MattArts
This guy flans.
VoidForScreaming
That picture on the wall. The prophecy foretold.

For those who don't speak Thai, he said, "No"
FartingWiener
Yes, we heard that, but what does it translate to in English?
lewdev
As a matter of fact, "No" means no in English.

Ah but what if they were a rich America white boy who has a great future ahead of them and they just made a silly little mistake for a moment of fun?

I get the reference.

Man knows the world well enough to know the Thai food he has at home is better than whatever this Canadian and Australian plans to bring.

sounds like you're eating airport grade food pretending it's Thai. Like saying China can't cook because you had Panda Express.

Reddit is the place to go. I often use it to find local spots
TupacAintDead
That Thai translation is pretty good. And as a Thai, there’s no way anyone would let them do this.
iCanSeeTheFnords23
honestly I find it hard to imagine any place would be cool with 3 people randomly showing up asking to come inside and use your kitchen, lol
jaggcomputing5
I'm an Aussie. One of the best compliments I received was, "You make Thai food that Thai people like to eat".
JackieTreehornProductions
Too personal of a thing or what? Intrusive if not invited or something? I mean there's Thai restaurants so you do let other people cook for you right?
HumanoidTyph00n

TupacAintDead
Too personal. Thai people, generally, are pretty reserved and don’t let strangers into their homes.
Debadguy
On that, I don't think anyone would be cool with 3 strangers just walking into your house.

CrossEyedPigeonToed
I'm sure they'd be able to find one that would let them eventually, but 9 outta 10 times they're probably going to get denied.
CaptainWARLORD
Who said anything about coming inside?
MuffinProof
The bottom?
lickwidghost
Do you see them carrying a portable kitchen?
ButtscratchMcPherson
Around here in Virginia you might get shot doing that; screams as a scam to come in and rob your place.

"ICE, open u- I mean... Gracias senor, we'd like to cook dinner for you...
