#34 Reminds me of a car I saw once. It was red, and the license plate was FF0000. I thought that was clever.

#33 Right up there with the parent/teacher interview:
Teacher: In class, little Jimmy said I was teaching "Liberal bullshit", what are we going to do about this?
Anticap Parent: Hmmm, have you tried not teaching Liberal bullshit?

#7 We found literal DDT when cleaning out my parent's garage.

Oh I think my elderly in-laws still have a bucket of DDT in a barn somewhere.

#2 Minor point of order, Freddie Mercury wasn’t gay, he was bi
TheAdrachian
Specifically he was queer, by his own words.
Abizuil
Eh, he was a siren who could never quite tell the difference between human genders, he just loved who he loved.

#37 neptune? What happened to Neptune?
bittenicht39
I guess this relates to the long-known use of the term "ice giants“ for Uranus and Neptune. But it was discovered that Neptune emits 2.7x more energy than it receives from the Sun, so it may possibly have a hot magma core and is not an ice giant.

#35 das a happy lil guy

#26 I have a desire to harm *the right people* and I am not sure if I want to do it because they seem an acceptable way to fulfill my wish to harm people or because I think it would benefit society.

#17 i find it amusing that a conservative found out in real time star trek is highly political and that they are generally hated by the community and stars.
ilovetraveler
#17 I hope they do feel hated by a large portion of the population because they are and should be. It's amazing how people can watch a "woke" show and not learn a good damn thing.
StrokeFlavoured
#17 These are the same people, that don't get, that 40k is a parody of sci-fi.
CelestialSea
Without 7 of 9 being played by Jeri Ryan, Obama would never have been President. How's that for Trek being political (look it up, totally true!).

#47 This is approximately canon in Lunar! The Dragon Diamond that Ramus wants to get at the start of the game is, in fact, dragonshit. Confirmed by the dragon, though he cuts himself off before saying it completely.
ayavaska
#17 Did you know that 7 of 9 helped Obama get elected?
goflyblind
"rosebud" was the name of her ex-husband's dick.
snarkybitch
Eh sorta. Id say her husband being a man whore got him elected lol

#37 I have no idea what happened with Neptune, but they didn't take anything from you with the dinosaurs, they only added different awesome. https://xkcd.com/1104/
Also, if you're hung up about Pluto, you're too obsessed with categories that only exist to categorize things.
bittenicht39
Neptune and Uranus were long thought of as "ice giants", but it was discovered Neptune emits 2.7x more energy than it receives from the sun. So there must be energy, possibly in the form of a hot magma core.
DrSparken
They're still called ice giants. The distinction comes from being primarily heavier elements than hydrogen and helium. Every planet will have at least a warm core, and most hot, because gravitational collapse causes enormous heat. No idea who read something about this and concluded it meant they weren't ice giants.
CodyBurkett
Oh I believe this whole "they took something science from you and ruined it" is bullshit. Dinosaurs are even more awesome now. Pluto is just weird, and Neptune possibly having a magma core is cool
ParaspriteHugger
#47 nonsense, you don't shit gold from eating cows. You shit gold, armor and weapons from eating adventurers. Shitting weapons is the main reason why dragons are grumpy, and the fire breathing is a result of eating wizards.

BlueBlueAvian
maybe dragons' innards are like a natural alchemy lab? could be a side effect of the fire breathing
OrionRex
Dragons also steal other people's hoards. Smaug didn't hollow out the Lonely Mountain, smelt the ore, cut and polish the gems, or create any of the beautiful instruments and works of art. He let the dwarves do it, then he swooped in from the north and stole it all.
baldbear
Rightfully so.

#18 It's not just "Chomskyean linguistics" that Everett's claims about the Pirahã language challenge, but much of the entire field (see his claims, for example, about how Pirahã disproves linguistic relativity). Everett has made broad claims based on relatively little evidence. See, for example:
https://web.archive.org/web/20120106154616if_/http://web.mit.edu/linguistics/people/faculty/pesetsky/Nevins_Pesetsky_Rodrigues_2_Evidence_and_Argumentation_Reply_to_Everett.pdf
aQuantumofAnarchy
As far as I'm able to understand, Everett's claims don't challenge universal grammar at all, since UG doesn't (I believe) require that each language show some similar property. The claim is that each human has a faculty/organ/capacity/whatever that allows them to acquire whatever language they are exposed to developmentally. Trying to discuss that at the level of a kind of taxonomy of language structures (nouns, gender, cases, etc) pretty much completely misses the point of UG.

#41 I wish more Americans knew this. They were also upset that the Brits were cracking down on their fraudulent land sales. When Washington was president he illegally used federal resources to hunt down and return his own slaves from 'free' states. People who think the founding fathers would be upset with Trump don't know their history.

#47 I roll to befriend the Dragon on the premise that I be her pooper scooper.
ParaspriteHugger
#39 God damn pelicans!

#47 … the gold, etc., is tribute from nearby settlements, brought by peoples oppressed by the dragon.

Nordic tradition holds that anything that a lindwurm sleeps upon will grow. Their hoards grow on their own simply by being their bed.
