Belated FP edit: Thanks guys and thanks for the accolades!

How could they have kept that from her, though?

My parents gave me my grandmother's name as my middle, and she was LIVID. Her name is Mildred, and as much as she hated that, she hated Millie even more. They quickly cleared that they used her MIDDLE name. She was okay with that, be reportedly so infuriated that it took her time to chill the fuck out

where's part 2?

I named my daughter after her Italian grandmother and great grandmother, unfortunately both of them had passed and couldn't appreciate the gesture. But kiddo changed her name a couple of different times for reasons that were good to her, so I guess it's all good.

What was the name??

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

Not ignoring your question, but putting it out here would be the same as doxxing myself.

That’s a long name

Well, my name is John Jacob Jingleheimer Schmidt, so we keep the tradition going in the family.

My uncle pissed off a great grandma by naming one of my cousins after her. Know your audience.

My parents wanted and were expecting a boy and I was born a girl. My name was given to me on the spot because it rhymed with my mother's. I hate my name because it always reminds me that my parents didn't want me. Sometimes names can be complicated.

Just because your parents preferred a boy doesn’t mean they didn’t want you. They might have just wanted a boy in ignorance. Or, the opposite, they might’ve wanted a boy because they didn’t want you to have to face all the injustices girls have to. Either way, I’m glad you’re here.

Oh no.... they were quite vocal about not wanting girls. But I appreciate your kind words.

I don't know why my grandma accepted my sister being named after her, but I wonder sometimes what she would think having a great-grandaughter, and a great-great granddaughter named after her. She was loved more then she accepted being loved.

That'll do. That'll do. Although I'm going to scrape off 90% of that sour cream.

Funny, in my culture it’s extremely bad luck to name a baby after a living person

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

In my family our middle names always came from our parents then grand parents. First male got dad's second got grandpa's and the like

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah, it's that way In Judaism too, you name after deceased people, not living ones. Cultural differences are fascinating!

In my culture we consider superstitions to be bad luck..

We calling babies all sorts of other names, why not? There's someone out there right now growing up with the first name "Peanut."

In Denmark, “Ok” is a legal female name, with “Okay” being the male version.

There are currently 2 Danish women named Ok and 5 Danish men named Okay.
And a single person whose last name is Banan (Banana).
22 people whose last name is Satan.

All I could think about was Philip J Fry being scolded by Professor Farnsworth for sleeping with grandma.
