He is a great kid most of the time. Last week he had a total meltdown while I was bringing him home from school in my truck. He ripped the rear view mirror off, also the sun shade from the passenger side, threw it in neutral and started hitting me. I got home safely but damn. He is 175# and 5' 7" at 13years.
I'm outfitting it with a prison transport barrier. Now everyone stays safe.

And bonus, you won't get speeding tickets.

All the local police already know us... unfortunately or fortunately. Not sure which I prefer.

I might invest in one myself. Got a 26 year old brother with severe autism mild retardation that gets violent. Shits scary.
anniemyth
Yeah. We covered his windows in lexan, ditto the tvs in the house, solid door on his bedroom with a lock. Many mods to help us be safe
boethius
I have a kid on spectrum hitting puberty. It's rare she gets violent but she can lash out. It's very tough. Hope you find the solutions.

Post a video of his tantrum in the retired police car.
anniemyth
I've never had hands free when he is going at it. Novel.

And you'll get home sooner too because everyones going to get out of your way.

This might be the best reason to drive a used police car.
anniemyth
Well that and the sick zombie stickers I'm gonna put on it.

Nice, then add this paint job:

Omg. I already don't make sense to my mother. I can already see her face. It's beautiful.
Sirrussel5
@OP, I grew up with an autistic, schizophrenic, etcetera brother. My mom did what she needed to, and good on you for doing the same.
yenagrrl
1...175#? You... You're a friggin genius...
petgoats
Is he currently in Counseling? Have you been to a psychologist?
anniemyth
Therapy and meds and everything I could think of beyond.
petgoats
Then you're doing well. Just give it time, puberty is hard for people on the spectrum (of all severities)
mellowdrama
I hear you.

Oh after early teens it does get better, mines 16 and 230 now:)
anniemyth
Thanks. It has gotten better but the times he does meltdown are pretty traumatic.

Don't down vote this comment, guys. Shits still funny.
YesmynameisGreg
I was going to reply "OP wouldn't have needed those things if he just hadn't vaccinated the damn kid." Good to see you're able to laugh.
DrivebyViktum
Thanks for that. Sometimes gallows humor is all you have left., and that's what can save you from despair.
anniemyth
Sometimes I think "what if I started breaking fingers"
DrivebyViktum
Heh, honestly youre handling things better than i would be. +1 for ya for that.
