#1 Y'all, I get that media (movies/music/streaming series) and the Internet are shit these days. They've been shit since the beginning, for all different reasons. In some ways, it's gotten worse, yes. In others, it's gotten better. Ads and "sUbScRiBe To OuR tHiNg" popups got you down? At least it's not malware just because you wandered into a sketchy Mega Man fan site. Don't like new music? You'd have a tough time convincing me nu metal wasn't bland trash.

#19 can we talk about those Hobbit feet?

#37 took me several tries to realize that it was indeed written correctly and I still feel uneasy about it.

#35 Story time: my kid changed the course of my life. Ive never taken xanax, although I probably could have been prescribed it, and eventually would have if I hadn't had him. My life was without purpose or direction, and I was looking for someone or something more of meaning or excitement. I did uppers twice the same month I had unprotected sex multiple times because I was losing myself. Then I found out I was pregnant and I went from homeless to business and home owner. My son saved my life.

What war? A.1. Sauce was invented in London, England, Great Britain (by King George IV's personal chef, Henderson William Brand) in approximately 1831. In 1862, he was appointed "Manager of Cuisine" at the London International Exhibition of Industry and Art; that was where he started selling this sauce on a commercial-scale to the public, under the name "Brand's International Sauce". The name was changed to A.1. in 1873, and it was first imported to the USA in 1906.

1831, it was a very good year. James Maxwell was born. Jackson had been elected in America. Most unfortunately, George the IV had been succeeded by his younger brother William IV.

Jackson being elected most definitely was NOT one of the highlights of 1831. Partially because he was elected in 1829, but mostly because he was a racist, violent, asshole.

The President inspired the future anti-reconstruction efforts, The year was good, but the president was as described.

#10 Wait… Do cyber trucks actually cost $ 100.000?!

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Hypothetically the base model is 79k, but fees and addons and whatnot mean the cheapest actually sold is 100k at least.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Damn… Now I understand people’s negative reactions to it better. i thought they were somewhere between 30 and 50k.

When first announced that is closer to what they said. But that didn't actually happen.

#1 We only remember the highs and the lows. it's how our brain saves space. I think that's one of the reasons for photographs and journaling. so we have a way to store things that were neither amazing nor terrible. because as you get older, it gets harder for anything to push that line higher. Life will give you plenty of terribles. there's no point in chasing that shit.

True, a useful coping mechanism that becomes a problem when exploited for political gain. Rosy retrospection is how cognitive warfare practitioners convinced so many that the economy was "bad" under Biden and that "things are getting worse" (and hence we need a change and the incumbent is bad: Economic Voting) and Restorative Nostalgia is how dictators convince their followers only they can restore mythical "past greatness" (which was, by any reasonable measure, horrible by comparison to now).

1 year ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

lol, like reviews on the internet. You don’t bother to leave one unless your experience was fantastic or horrible. It’s always 5 stars or “I wish I could leave 0 stars”.

1 year ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

that's the internet in a nutshell. people don't bother posting something unless A: they're getting paid or B: it was amazing or C: it was horrible. the people in the middle can't be bothered about the issue so they don't say anything. so it *looks* like both sides are just batshit crazy when really the people in the middle just don't care enough to bother.
