That's the minimum - most people work every day.

IIRC that's Oliver Cromwell and you should be thankful because it used to be seven.

Thank unions and labor laws that it's not 7 days a week

Unions get a lot of shit, and some do have flaws, but my god am I happy to have my union some days.

Hell yes. They've done some amazing work

There are jobs you have where working five days simply isn't enough time. More like six or seven every week.

And try doing that as a single parent. Hell, sheer hell.

Probably the people who were tired of working seven days a week.

Jerry: "5 days a week." ....Boss man: "deal!"......Carl: "damnit Jerry, we decided on 3 days you f@$k!"

I think it was actually the people tired of working 6 days a week. Sunday has always been a rest day in Christian culture.

Yeah but I don't think industrial England was too scrupulous about that.

Oddly enough, it was pretty common. They just worked up to 16 hour days the other 6. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eight-hour_day

I stand corrected

Pretty crazy right? I think they had figured out that without rest days you kill your labor, and it's expensive to train new workers.
