Tried to get tested

So here’s one of the reasons why I think the US’s COVID numbers are so high that I don’t hear anyone talk about. I felt like getting a covid test today cause I feel a little run down and have a sore throat. So I call my clinic and ask if they are still doing them. “Sure”, the lady says on the phone. Ok. So I drive down to the clinic. When I get there I’m told I can’t just get a test, I’ve got to call both the cdc and some other agency AND make an appointment to get one (mind you this is at a clinic that does DRIVE THROUGH COVID testing) at the drive through testing. I repeat, I’ve got to both get cleared by the cdc, another medical agency, AND make an appointment to DRIVE THROUGH test. On top of all that, I asked about cost. My answer was, “oh we just send a bill in the mail after.” Not to my insurance? “No, just to you.” Ok, well about how much will that be? “Oh we don’t know but you’ll get the bill.” Nice so, maybe $10 or maybe $5000? I’ll have no way of knowing till I get it and having my insurance pay it is not even an option. This shit is nuts. I literally was just getting it so I would be a nice guy and not give it to anyone else because I’m relatively young and healthy and it probably wouldn’t affect me. But to intentionally make it so difficult just to get tested it kinda seems like they WANT people to spread it. What the fuck USA? What is wrong with you??? Sorry for the text wall. TLDR: wanted a covid test for safety but they make it too difficult to get one. GG USA.

Same. Someone at my job was positive and it was just way too much when I probably didn’t have this virus with 99% recovery rate for me.

Well that would be a government that wants the numbers to appear lower than they are, so restrict access to testing. Shitty for sure.

Weird, I didn’t know you were in my car an hour ago when I just tried to get one.

curious what state? My sister and my aunt do drive up testing every week for free so they can visit my mom who is in a nursing home. (1/2)

This is part of the problem of not having a national plan and leaving it up to the states

Their only complaint is the length of the lines

That’s great. My biggest hurdle is calling cdc. I won’t do that. Because when to do that the cdc contacts your work and the cdc forces you >

To quarantine regardless of whether you’re positive or not. I’ve got 3 days off, so I’ll just wait. If it’s a normal flu it’s over in 2.
