The Divide (2011)

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1535616/

A bunch of people stuck in an apartment basement when the nukes go off. Good for watching how people turn into Raiders.

The Book of F̶a̶l̶l̶o̶u̶t̶ Eli (2010)

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1037705/

So if it were any other religious text than a bible, it would probably have done better.

The Road (2009)

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0898367/

Depressingly realistic, complete with extreme boredom as you'd expect in post apocalyptia

Reign of Fire (2002)

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0253556/

Okay so yeah, there's dragons instead of zombies and Matthew McConaughey and Christian Bale which automatically puts it as not as successful. Still, not that bad all things considered.

There's a bunch more, but I'm lazy tonight.

Honorable mentions include:
Mad Max (all but 3, that one never happened)
12 Monkeys (technically)
Screamers
The Postman
Blindness
And a ton which I'm going to let the Comments section fill out.

Bitch, Reign of Fire kicked ass. Probably the best movie about dragons there is.

Definitely made dragons seem a bit plausible. Like if there were dragons, that's how it'd go.

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I hate magic dragons. "Oh, it's the size of a mountain, but magic keeps gravity from killing it." No thanks. Gimme realism any day.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Why do people hate on Bale and McConaughey? They're awesome. And Reign of Fire had Gerard Butler too.

10 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

I've seen people hating on mud but Bale? Haven't seen much, if any. Recently.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Upvoted for screamers

Amen

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Beyond Thunder dome is pretty awesome until it gets to the kids part, come one TWO MEN ENTER ONE MAN LEAVES !

10 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

I LOVE Screamers.....take that how ever you like.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Screamers 2 is pretty ok

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

In Mad Max Three- There are actually kids running around "The Spring" in War Boy paint.

T.H.R.E.A.D.S. will ruin your life and make you become a doomsday prepper.

They showed this to us in SCHOOL in the 80s. FUCKING Terrifying!

The Mad Max films, Waterworld, A Boy and his Dog, Snowpiercer, Children of Men.

CHILDREN OF MEN

10 years ago | Likes 142 Dislikes 5

Yes! One of my favorite movies. Such an amazing slow burn.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Kinda "per-apocolypse" really. There's still a somewhat functioning society, but you can see it starting to slip away.

10 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

great film , but doesn't count as "end of the world". think more nuclear holocaust

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 3

Sid disagrees - the near complete sterilization of the human race is pretty end-of-the-world stuff. Fugee face.

10 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

yeah, sure that counts then. didn't think of it that way

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

i can see your point, what about the new-ish total recall film would that count as apocalypse? or is it a failure of technology/ society?

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Waterworld?

10 years ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 3

#4 was pretty good. #2 was an awesome movie. But if they had used certain religious books, republicans would have had a shit storm...

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Are you saying Thunderdome didn't happen?! You know the rules boys and girls.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

"What are they doing?" "I think they're breakdance fighting, sir."

Why a zoolander quote? I mean, I like it, but why?

Because it's the first thing that popped into my head when I saw the gif. Ever notice that? Watch all the intelligent films ever, and the

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Book of Eli was incredible in my opinion

10 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Yes! Loved that movie!

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

5 minutes into the movie right now. Did they just kill the fucking baby?

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Highly HIGHLY recommend "THE DIVIDE" . Im serious find a way to see it.

10 years ago | Likes 70 Dislikes 3

Really good movie! After I've had seen it I was speechless. It really shows how people could act in such a situation.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Ran across it on Netflix as well as cable a while back, thought holy shit and inflict it where I can

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

I love that movie and how it is so messed up...honestly made me feel uncomfortable after watching it

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Same here and I'm usually heartless and callous. :) I need to know more about the suits though!

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

They shot that one here in Winnipeg so I've been meaning to give it a watch.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

only thing movie on the list i dont own will keep a eye out, there are a few really good ones on or where on netflix, like Snow pincer

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Snowpiercer

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

ya that one Thank you

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I love that movie so much. When people ask me what genre it is the only way to explain it is "It puts you in a weird place"

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I uh I'm not glad I remembered that movie. That shit is so fucked up just because it's kind of possible for people to go ballistic like that

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The whole "we broke her" thing was deeeeeeeeply disturbing

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Lipstick, asymmetrical lipstick everywhere

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

"find a way to watch it" Is this shit so black market that I'm gonna need a dealer?

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Yes

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I was really, really bored by the entire thing. It was interesting, but the progression felt really jarring (and not in a motivated way)

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Is there a reason it has such horrible reviews on Rotten Tomatoes and seemingly everywhere but here?

10 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 1

Most acting is atrocious and the characters decisions make no sense.

10 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 2

So it's a dumb movie. Got it. Not watching.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

It's one of those movies that "focuses on the characters", but the characters are terrible and so is the acting. The result is no suprise.

10 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

I just saw the divide i must say it's improbable that the cast of character even make it down the stairs even to the basement 1/?

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

The girl at the start should be blind from the blast, and if they would get there the radiation would kill them in a week. 2/?

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Also there are no such things as plastic anti radiation suits and that flisy plexi glass would never shield your eyes. etc. 3/?

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

In the end it was somewhat iteresting film but its too much burtal and gritty and unrealistic i give it weak score of 5/7 (more like 5/10).

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

thanks for saving me the trouble of downloading it.

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

This what community is for :D.

This was a surprise. Really enjoyed Turbo Kid.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I liked Turbo Kid a lot.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

My brother actually worked on it. Feels good to see people mention it on here!

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Completely deserved, too. It's great fun. Laurence Leboeuf was absolutely awesome as Apple, really made the movie. :)

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Man, I really liked Reign of Fire when it came out...

10 years ago | Likes 469 Dislikes 3

Me too, what is not to like about cigar chomping, tank riding Matthew McConaughey?

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

10 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

most intense movie moment of my childhood next to ashe being turned to stone

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I liked it except for the finale showdown effectively being "Initiative Check: The Movie."

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Watched the whole movie without realizing that was Matthew McConaughey

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Same. He seemed too bulky and shorty to be Matthew.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Me, too. "And then the dark night said to the white knight "I AM YOUR FATHER""

10 years ago | Likes 31 Dislikes 0

*air sucked out of room by children gasping* That's one of my favorite parts.

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Mine too :)

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Reign of Fire had one of the best looking dragons I've seen in movies in a long time. That close up in the end scene was gorgeous.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

See, I didn't really like the design too much. They look more like Wyverns or some kind of drake. (1)

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I've always seen dragons as having 4 legs and their wings being separate, not 2 legs and forelimbs that are wings (like bats)

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It's a tad more realistic, tbh. What non-arthropod, non-cephalapod do you know of with more than 4 limbs?

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

It's a movie about dragons, it doesn't need to be realistic lol

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

9_9

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

Reign of fire was my favorite movie for a long time! I was 9 when it came out so it was at my super dragon nerd high point.

10 years ago | Likes 91 Dislikes 0

Yeah, I was all about dragons when it came out as well.

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Mine, too! But I was 29. I went to it with my wife for my birthday blockbuster.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

you had dragon notebooks when you were in middle school didn't you?

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Sadly no :( I wish though.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The CGI was REALLY well made considering it's age. There's big Hollywood productions today that look worse. (Looking at you, Jurassic World)

10 years ago | Likes 56 Dislikes 5

Its*

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 3

Sorry. Not a native speaker. I mix "it's" and "its" up all the time.

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I thought that Jurassic world was not very stl done.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Well not stl

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I've no idea what STL is, but if you're saying that Jurassic World wasn't well made, I agree. That's what I said. Dinosaurs looked plastic.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Yes that's what I meant. The plot holes too. How on earth does one go from a structural engineer to training raptors.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

And the whole it's finding where it sits in the food chain was ridiculous.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Its a good movie when you want to watch action and McConaughey being eaten, I'll grant you that.

10 years ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 9

I was planning on watching it. Goddamn.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Is that a spoiler?

10 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Once something hits older than 10 years old nothing's a spoiler

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

But my car is 11 years old and still has a spoiler

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

The Book of Eli was amazing! You have to watch it second time to really appreciate all the subtleties.

10 years ago | Likes 36 Dislikes 3

Amazing? It could have been. On a planet where more bibles have been printed than ipods made : battery still works > no more bibles...

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 6

Well it was some what addressed with the bit in the reactor, where DW talked about people burning "those books" when the nukes were launched

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

In this case i was focusing on the surreal ad placement by apple ;)

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

What's a blockbuster movie without a little ad placement?

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I like the fact that he was blind, and you don't even realize it until the end

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

So how do you explain... basically anything happening in the movie then ? It's beyond moronic.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I don't know. Found it to be pretty "meh". Entertaining but certainly not memorable.

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

The subtleties really were not that subtle

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

This is the laziest list ever

10 years ago | Likes 688 Dislikes 11

It's more of a whine that people don't have the same taste... "Oh yeah, it must have done poorly because it had the bible."

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Hey! If he wasn't so lazy he'd come over there and punch you right in the kisser!

Master Blaster rules

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Good movie yes, but following mad max 1 and 2? Lackluster.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

He dismissed 3, not compared. It is a good movie in its own right. Fans are fickle when you make something they don't expect...

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

I don't understand it. What's not to like? It had the best car chase, the best fight scenes, an actual story arc, and a happy ending.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

mediocre is the word you're looking for.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Glad to be out of service more like. Amiright? I think I'm right. I'm not sure if I'm right. Am I right? Please help.

Best list I've ever seen OP!

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The Road - most depressing movie I've ever seen. Took me 2-3 days to feel "normal" again.

10 years ago | Likes 364 Dislikes 8

I remember watching it with my mam the first time, we went to the kitchen after and opened the cupboard and just gawked at all the food...

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I still think about it sometimes randomly and get really upset

10 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

majority of the movies cant even get you to like the protagonist, while here...

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Read book now I can never bring myself to watch the movie. Took a lot out of me emotionally and a few manly tears.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Eh. It was bland and boring

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 3

It does Change you

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Viggo Mortensen said he quit making movies after that experience. Luckily he changed his mind.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Really good move, nevertheless. Awesome acting, which makes you care for the characters, which makes you depressed.

10 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 0

read the book, it is even more depressing

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I like how the ending at least throws you a bone: "People aren't 100% shit"

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

SPOILER!!!! Or (from an extremely pessimistic POV), maybe couple at the end were cannibals/traffickers.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Testament to the film/novel that it makes the audience THAT pessimistic about their fellow man

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Read the book in one sitting. Finished it and sobbed for several minutes.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Yeah, read the book, it'll really mess you up. Fuck, I got all teary eyed while reading it one time, while riding a bus, be warned.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Me too! Crying on the bus kinda freaks people out

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Ugh we get it, you're on a road

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

At the end tho but if following how bout helping out for fuck sake, it shook me for 2 days foreal.

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Spoilers ahead! They didn't help because no one trusts each other, and they may have only trusted the Boy, not the Man.

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

We are on the same level and that's rare, but it just really annoyed me that they waited for the father to die like omfg I yelled. 1

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Out in emotional pain like you fuckers could of helped! But I do understand the whole trust thing, the father would protect his kid no matta

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

What and would be sus of the other family, but yeah it's just so conflicting. That's why it's such a good movie

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Then don't read the book...more hard hitting...

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

The Road- the best movie I NEVER want to see again

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The road was fucking incredible

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

It's a fairy tale compared to Threads (1984).

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I have never been so traumatised by a film, it took me days to recover too. Don't think I can ever watch it again- sterling job

10 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

Don't read the book, then. The movie wasn't nearly as harsh - and I agree, the movie *was* tough.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Traumatised is the term I was looking for. Awesome acting, good directing, but damn the movie is hard to watch. Will never watch it again

10 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Monster did that for me. Tideland as well.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I cried on the bus while reading the book. Like full on stream-y tears. I couldn't put it down though.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That book really screwed me up. That basement scene...

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Umm... I watched The Road and followed it up by watching The Pianist. Huge mistake.

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Masochist!

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I wish that was the case. But nope, I'm just not a smart person. Thought The Pianist wasn't going to be as depressing. Boy was I wrong.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

That pile of shoes O.o

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

very boring and cliche` - nothing new

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I watched the movie directly after reading the book. The movie was positively uplifting comparatively.

10 years ago | Likes 104 Dislikes 0

Your post = my thoughts. Read the book about 6 months prior to film coming out. Thought, "I don't remember this being a comedy..."

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I read the book in one sitting. I am so thankful I finished it while it was still daylight. I actually went outside to look around. (1/2)

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The book is amazing, yet can have a profound affect on people. Google some reactions to it and be astounded. (2/2)

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yeah. I saw the movie and thought that nothing could be bleaker. I was wrong.

10 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Oh good! I was worried the movie would be worst than the book and haven't had the heart to watch it yet.

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Jesus, then I really dont want to read the book.

10 years ago | Likes 36 Dislikes 0

Naa totes read the book. I actually found their strong, loving relationship even when the rest of the world was so fucked super uplifting.

10 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

I found the concept of "the fire" that they carried through the horrific night of humankind's greatest test to be a very uplifting concept.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

That book really screwed me up. That basement scene...

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I wanted to slit my wrists at the end of the book. The movie was easy to get through.

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Do not read On The Beach then. At least The Road has a somewhat happy ending, and a hope for the future.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Oh I've read it. It was part of my school curriculum. It was not as graphically descriptive as The Road. It was sad, but not "slit my wrist"

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Crazy feels, Only art can do this

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I found the book kind of uplifting. You have to construct purpose to your life even when it seems obvious that you're telling yourself (1/2)

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

a fairy tale just to keep going. "Carrying the fire" is a legitimate reason to keep going when all things are dying.

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

The Book of Eli is AMAZING, especially the music. And also The Road is probably the best book-to-film adaptions I've seen, it's so good

10 years ago | Likes 88 Dislikes 7

Excuse me?!? It's the stupidest ending ever

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 8

I thought it was dumb as fuck simply because a braille bible would be massive, not whatever the fk he had.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 4

I would've taken a book on civil engineering over the bible any day

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 9

I liked that they showed how religion is used by power hungry people to manipulate others. Religion is a valuable thing for those who

10 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

Control it. Watch an hour of televangelists and you can see how much money pours in. It's disgusting and amazing.

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

No I get the point they were making. I still woulda set up a hydroponic garden and raise an army that I can feed with my tomatoes

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Eli is without doubt one of my favorite films of all time.

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I found it pretty lame...not the worst movie ever, but not the best either. A 5 out of 10 for me personally.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I loved book of Eli. :o

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Hmm, I absolutely hated it. To each their own I guess.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

The Road on the other hand is one of my favorites.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Ah we all have different tastes :) The Road, however, I agree with you! That film hits a very particular nerve with me, the book even moreso

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I don't see how it would have been better with a different religious text, it's the apocalypse in a majority Christian nation

10 years ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 0

Not "been better", "done better". As in, "more people would have gone to watch the movie if there wasn't a biblical reference in the title"

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The majority of people are incredibly intolerant of practicing Christians.

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

I think you may have replied to the wrong comment, BUT I do agree, it's the power of religion in dark times, it could apply to any text

10 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

he also needs to re-read the list. OP didn't say the movie would have been better, he said the movie would have done better. Huge difference

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Nah, you're the only guy talking book of Eli :)

10 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Oh cool! But yeah, the influence of Christianity in America and the events before the film made sense for it to be a Bible that he carries

10 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

It's just because movies that include the bible in the main plot automatically do poorly. People don't like religious tones in film.

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 3

But they implied that another religious text would have been better?

10 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Any religious tones is bad in the industry imo

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

It would be, but not much better. The movie is westernized so the bible is more taboo then other texts.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Not completely "end of the world" but I recommend Doomsday. Think mad max but British and more technology.

10 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 1

Doomsday is a great movie, better then mad max imo.

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 3

It's Thunderdome mixed with Turtles In Time

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

.....also.....Rhona Mitra. That eye though.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I'm reading here "total garbage film all to give you a load of religious garbage at the end instead of a decent ending" true or nah?

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You know why Book of Eli was stupid? The bible is the most reproduce book in the world. They got rid of ALL of them except one? (eye roll)

10 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

Not only that, but the Bible written in braille would weigh more than he did. And that's just the new testament.

I.... never thought of this.... but probably accurate.

Am I the only one who loved Thunderdome?

10 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 2

I think it's just that the rest of us got beyond it.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

No just everyone but OP

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Hey, Beyond Thunderdome was the shit!

10 years ago | Likes 36 Dislikes 1

Better than the first one but people never want to admit that a sequel can be better than the original.

Two men enter, one man leaves!!

You know the law

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Thunderdome isn't great, but IMO it's better than the first Mad Max movie.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I agree

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Almost no vehicle scenes, not much action, and the whole movie was named after a ten minute fist fight.

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

I like my chase scenes without anyone speeding up the playback to make it look like they are driving fast. And I love the happy ending.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

yeah wtf? honestly the first one bored the shit out of me

Road Warrior is where it's really at.

Master Blaster

It isnt the tone that many fans think Mad Max ought to have, but it's a good original story. Modern sequels would just rehash the same shit.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The two prior movies had completely a different tone and aesthetic from each other, so how can anyone say what the third "ought" to be?

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Just watched it yesterday. Found it to be much better than the 1st and 2nd movie

Terrible film

10 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 7

loved that movie !

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

...sucks and should not be as glorified as it is.

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 5

But WHY are they on a train? It makes no sense and ruined the movie for me.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

Because if the stopped moving they'd freeze. Being on a looped track made constant movement more likely.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Add the word train in there where it makes sense.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Why not set up on a underground bunker? A serious obstruction on the rail and you're off the track and dead.

Water world

10 years ago | Likes 92 Dislikes 6

I am also one of the 4 people in the world who liked that movie.

10 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

Yes!

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Where is the comment about Water World being Mad Max in the water?

10 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

There it is

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Water World definitely. If I were the OP I'd have gone with Water Wold instead. The Postman= horribly long and boring. I couldn't finish it.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The Postman was terrible, unbearable to watch.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I read the book and it was amazing.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Waterworld was when I realized that Kevin Costner was not a good actor.

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 6

I agree with you and yet I still love Costner movies.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

most actors are not good actors...and then you watch Ed Norton in Birdman and think..FUCK, that is Acting

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I always loved the first 2/3 of this. Who knew sail boats could be so bad ass.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Despite being one of the bigger failures in box office history, I think waterworld is fucking fantastic.

10 years ago | Likes 33 Dislikes 2

after video sales it did make a small profit

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I always wonder why it's on so many "worst movies ever" lists. It's visually fantastic, might actually come true (yikes!), Dennis Hopper!

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I just cost a fortune to make.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It*

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

yes you did

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Hell yeah. I loved that fucking movie, same with The Postman.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Same here. I thought The Postman was really enjoyable.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Agreed! I'm going to re-watch it later tomorrow. :D
