First off, my phone decided to film this in portrait. I wouldn’t dream of doing that intentionally. This is my latest addition to the family, at time of posting less than two hours old. I left sound on so you could get an idea of cuteness.

Introducing it to its quail siblings. Had a good hatch rate this year and hopefully one or two eggs yet to pop.

An earlier chick doing its best TMNT cosplay. In four or five weeks I’ll know which are males and females, then they’ll be moved into the big coup. In eight weeks I’ll be expecting eggs already!

Apparently that's worth two in the Bush.

What kind of weed is this

A big coup, huh? Better be prepared for American military "liberation"!

I'm gunna have my first chicks in a few weeks, these little peeping sounds steal my heart.

Any more than a handful and you're risking a sprained tongue.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

add in one of these and you have a breakfast club

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

That's not a Tit.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

7 years ago | Likes 46 Dislikes 0

Seconded! Cute little buggers

He's worth two, in a bush.

The world needs more quails!! Keep up the good work!

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Doing my part:)

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You really needed to save that title for when you incubate a clutch of titmice.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You need some hand moisturiser BAD

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Them’s workin’ hands. *wankin’*

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

coop, unless they're staging a violent revolution.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Lol thanks!)) (Although quite frankly, I wouldn’t put it past them!)

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

What? Another post on how to pick up chicks?

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Prepelițe in Romanian. I'd play with them all the time when I was young. I loved their sounds more than that of chickens or ducks.

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

I was about to say, I can just hear the "meep meep" until I turned the sound on.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Your hands look like mine

7 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Hand twins!!

7 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

That's right, you need at least a mouthful and no more than a handful. What are we talking about?

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Eat the eggs sure but LET THEM LIVE ❤️?

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Oh I do- in fact I mollycoddle them. They’re treated like queens in my household! Even the old ones.

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

That’s wonderful! Are you EUR based?

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

UK based:)

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

? me too; if you know any keepers in south England I’d love to buy from a family set up!

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Thought I was looking at Thanos' hand

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Beat me too it.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

?

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm gonna need at least...3

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Tree fiddy to make a proper roast;)

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Do the eggs taste different than chicken eggs?

7 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Oh yes, there’s a higher yolk to albumen ratio, so very creamy. They make the best scrambled eggs. And egg mayo? *Homer drooling noise*

7 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

I hope I get to try them someday. I love eggs!

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

And I'm from Alabama so you know I like mayonnaise, lol

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You really should if you can get your hands on them- I’m quite the other side of the pond otherwise I’d have sent you some:)

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I appreciate the thought. I'm in Florida now so it's much further

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I love quails eggs; boiled they’re perfect for a salad! sometimes I fry one, +1 chicken egg +1 duck egg for hilarity multi size eating

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Quail start laying after just two months? That’s crazy. My ducks freeload for 6 months!

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

They probably don’t live as long though- about five years.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Do they lay eggs their whole lives?

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

About four years of lay, then a years retirement;)

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Chickens only give you two years of laying. Ducks are 5-6, then they’re dinner ?

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Really? I guess I have to... that’s worth 2 in the bush. I’ll see myself at, assholes.

7 years ago | Likes 215 Dislikes 3

Out*

7 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 1

Just take the comma out and it sounds like you're going to a crappy restaurant.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I was going to say, seeing yourself at assholes is a whole different conversation entirely.

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

The current hand/bush ratio isn’t what it was:(

7 years ago | Likes 49 Dislikes 1

I suspect fowl play

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This country's going to shit I tells ya.

7 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Quails eh? Are they for food?

7 years ago | Likes 51 Dislikes 8

Unlikely- kids won’t let me!( but the egg laying is prolific.

7 years ago | Likes 83 Dislikes 0

I've never had any egg other than chicken, do they taste similar? In the process of getting a house, and you made me want quail lol

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You would eat them ?

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The eggs yes

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Oh Okay. I thought you meant the actual birds but the kids won't let you. PHEW!

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Hehe what about the half of them that are males?

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Already got an idea I’ve got about a 70/30 split females to males. But that’s just intuition. I try to keep them, or rehome them.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

if you want a tip, use drawer liner for the first few days. its the non-slip liner. its very good to help them until their legs are stronger

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I mean if they eat meat, you might as well let them know where it comes from. There’s way too much cognitive dissonance when it comes to meat

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 3

I know the source, still love eating meat. If by magic all butchers vanished over night, though, I'd have to become vegetarian. ;)

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Yeah, which is why I think kids should learn where meat comes from at a young age,so they can give it up if they want, before they’re addicted

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

I agree on the learning/teaching part, but 'addiction' leads onto an agressive missionary veganism path I refuse to discuss here. :)

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Me too but only because I don't know how, not because I wouldn't kill for meat.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Eggs for food?

7 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Oh yes:) Best. Scramble. Ever.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Pickle the eggs, they are delicious!

7 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Done that- they are indeed;)

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Good kids, I'm relieved :P

7 years ago | Likes 47 Dislikes 4

Quails are pretty damn delicious though.

7 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

There's not enough meat on them to make the hatching, feeding, growing, preparing, worth it I don't think.

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

They're more of a delicacy, I don't eat them regularly, maybe once a year. They just have a nice taste to them and the eggs are good too.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Quail are raised for meat though
