i've been on firefox for a decade now.. I guess its time to free up drive space. it was only useful for troubleshooting as a second 'clean' browser anyway. using the internet with out a script / adblock is like wading in to sewage without a hazmat suit.

Comments were from /gallery/jPHVj2g, the last displayed page, instead the current page.
As a mitigation, can empty-out the comments on page change. Bonus points for a spinner until the new comments are loaded, and on failure a [ retry ] button.

Yeah, happened to me too a few months back. I literally just went into the settings and turned it back on. I've had zero problems with ever since. Just because google "recommends" something, doesn't mean you have actually follow it.

Use Brave with a VPN. Brave even connects private tabs directly to TOR. Use DNS over HTTPS and point it to Adblock DNS servers. Nord VPN also blocks lots of ad URLs. No browser extensions needed

Stopped using Chrome a while ago, Thorium now and a back up of Pale Moon, still some issues with Pale Moon, but getting better. Thorium has been great and no issues with adblockers.

I've started to see some failings in the backend from lack of updates. YouTube has started giving the "hey you could pay and not have to use an ad blocker" insert on videos again. Lite has fixed that, but switching to Firefox seems to be the ultimate end of this anyway.

addendum: UBOL is missing a couple things I kinda rely on..
it lacks filter list updates outside of extension updates, and has no custom filters, strict-blocked pages, per-site switches, or dynamic filtering

It's what got me to switch to Firefox when Google decided to remove certain capabilities from extensions, partly to allow their own ads through. Firefox has, as of now anyway, said they have no plans of doing the same and promised at least a year's warning if they did decide to implement it.

Well Firefox is open-source, and funded by the public. It’s in its own best interest to keep things in line with user desires otherwise it loses backers.
But I still believe the idea behind Firefox and Librewolf is specifically to preserve freedom in the internet, so they’re not gonna do anything like that. I have faith in them.

Hostile ads infecting PCs with ransomware are why I started using ad blockers. Sites' EULAs and ToSs that "disclaim any and all responsibility to the fullest extent possible under any past, present, and/or future law, and if something is somehow applicable you agree to binding third-party arbitration where you have no control over the selection of arbiter(s) so use at your own risk" are why I refuse to never *not* use an ad blocker. ->

They only informed users because of a law in California. I thought this was widely known, but evidently people are still blind to the ever so convenient timing of Firefox disclosing their questionable decisions coinciding with the effective dates of relevant laws. Firefox's CEO is paid millions per year, they only still have the facade of being pro-user because their user base is still small comparatively. If you've bothered to follow Firefox's internal drama, you'd know that.

That's not to say it isn't better than Chrome when it comes to privacy, disclosure, etc. But they aren't saints. Firefox really ISN'T any better than Chrome on privacy. Both send analytic data home, though you can disable it on both. Also, almost all the Mozilla Foundation's revenue is from directing people to Google advertising.

Vivaldi. It's Chromium based, so it's compatible with all the stuff that Chrome is, but not restricted on plugins. Also it has actual keyboard customization, which was something I had to use a fucking plugin to do with Chrome.

So the thing about Mozilla is twofold. The REAL developers who cared for users and their safety/privacy are long gone, replaced by ones hired to maximize profit over everything else. The CEO was also removed and replaced with one that's all about profit. And the Mozilla Foundation and the Mozilla Project are two different legal entities. One non-profit, the other for-profit. Guess which one hides behind the other? tl;dr: Firefox sold out years and years ago and continues to lie to its users.

They've basically created a new super tracking cookie standard that's looking like will be adopted by Google. They've ironically named it "Privacy Protection" but what it really does is make it much easier to digitally ID you. Was introduced several versions back, IIRC.

Firefox does not do everything that Chrome does but better. I realized this after switching to Firefox about a year ago. Firefox often freezes when saving to network drives or virus scanning. Firefox only just added named tab groups. There's plenty more, but what's the point in rambling on. It's not perfect, stop being an idiot and pretending it is, because you give its devs excuses to be lazy in innovating with this delusion. Fanboying is directly against your own interest.

I remember when chrome first came out and google had copypasted their normal web service EULA in it which clearly stated that google owns total copyright for everything you do with the browser. That didn't go well.

There are sadly sites that work with chrome and not firefox because the site is badly designed and built. You can't always avoid them, so you need an alternative for when firefox isn't supported. On a Mac, Safari works as an alternative.

The only reason it's not is pure platform buy-in. Just the sheer number of things that a browser saves for you and auto fills would be a nightmare to transfer - some of them will, but frankly enough won't that I can't make the switch until my job hunt ends - I just need the password collection, cookies, and browser history too much.

Yep. I switched from Firefox to Chrome ages ago because Chrome was faster and better. But when Google forced you to not be able to skip Youtube ads I switched back to Firefox for personal use and Edge for work use. And I don't miss Chrome at all.
