A friend of mine went to the emergency room and they wheeled him into a separate room and closed the door. They forgot him. They found hims two hours later and he was in a rage. He was there because a car had rolled over his foot and crushed it.
This almost happened to me, the doctor just happened to forget something in the room and came in. I was sitting there with a examination robe and everything. They were like,"Omg, I forgot you were in here, I was about to go home." Lol
Not where I am. If it's an emergency you go to ER (as you would for an emergency any time). If it's an appointment to investigate some aspect of your general health (Should I get this cyst removed? Why does my hip hurt?) you book an appointment Mon to Fri (and they're usually closed Wed afternoon for some reason) .
Iāve had a doctor forget I was in an exam room and I fell asleep because I was sick and it was during my lunch break. I woke up 45 minutes later and went to the receptionist like, āWTF!?ā and she admitted they forgot me. So now, I probably annoy doctors when they take too long to show up for an appointment or exam because Iām super worried itāll happen again.
happened to me multiple times... first few.. many times, doc has (for example) appointment for 3pm. I am in waiting room till 3:30-3:45. They take me to exam room. I wait there another 30min or so(they have other patients and busy I guess?) but then ya, its past 5pm (for a 3pm appointment) and it is quiet as heck and i was mostly nodding off. And they all went home and forgot me. I feel like the OTHER times they also forgot then realized when someone noticed the exam room door was closed?
Ah you clearly aren't an American, ok so there is this thing in America that they call sick leave, sick leave is considered unpaid time off in most cases, where it is compensated it is usually blocked in with your regular paid time off which often doesn't exceed 15-20 days off a year. Additionally if you take too much unpaid time off for being sick in many places in the U.S. you can be let go for neglect of duty. Additionally housing costs are usually 60%-80% of income so no-work=homeless
Unlawful confinement. Call police and they have to let you out. Or smash you way out and say itās emergency.
I know Iāve done it 3x over my life. Best was Home Depot when I worked there for short time, manager decided to lock night shift inside when he left for who knows what at night. So I cut thru the garage door and walked out and quit
4th amendment violation at the very least. This is a federal law suit. Or, most likely one of the largest settlements the *Creepo* has ever paid...... So far
I've worked at Home Depot. They lock the customer entrances. The Loading bays are open, as is the back gate to Gardening. You absolutely can get out if you need to.
And Stephen King wrote a short story where one of the guys who gave the order to lock them in spends eternity as an office drone, hating his afterlife punishment of "helping" recently deceased people decide whether or not to attempt their previous again to "try to fix thingsābut you won't."
It wasn't a very good story for multiple reasons, but it got me to research the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire!
Haha! My favorite Jeopardy moment was walking into a friend's hotel room during an anime con, where they were taking a break from the convention floor to eat dinner and watch Jeopardy. Some guy competing didn't know the answer to a question, so he just drew a trollface-type meme pic, completely perplexing the host. Not one bit of relevance to the main post or this thread here, but I still laugh at how we all cracked up at the TV when that happened.
They expect their wage slaves to be obedient and not understand the law. Dude cutting his way out only saved the fire marshal from coming out to do it for him
Didn't call the police. Call the fire department. The firefighters will GLEEFULLY and destructively get you out, and then ticket the building owner for fire code violations. They take those things VERY seriously.
Fire fighters probably get very few chances to ticket someone who totally deserves it. I bet they take their shirts off and throw it at the recipient like āTAKE THAT!ā ⦠itās probably really great.
Firefighters basically live to save people and break things saving people. They genuinely enjoy both and would be tickled pink to rip that door off its hinges *then* have the fire marshal fine the office for not having an emergency exit.
Be sure to assure them there is no fire but you are trapped. It gives them time to plan their mayhem.
I went on a late night run to get snacks at a gas station at one point, only to find they had locked every door except for a single one. Mentioned to the manager that was illegal, there's even a sign saying so on the doors themselves. Got an asshole response. Went back to my truck, called the non emergency line to the local FD. About five minutes into eating my hotdog the fire chief rolled up, checked the doors, and got into a very animated conversation. $1k fine per door, four locked doors.
I was eating slow because I wanted to hang around and see what happened. I figured that if I was just sitting in my truck and eating vs just sitting in my truck that they would be less likely to accuse me of loitering.
We are not going to gleefully destroy anything. An office building like that likely has a Knox Box on it and we can use those keys to unlock the door. Or if that is not an option locks like the ones on those doors are usually easy to pick.
You think an office that (1) has no emergency fire exits and (2) the lack of foresight to lock a patient in and (3) likely has some pretty hardcore drugs available has a knox box?
Emergency exits can be locked if the building is not occupied.
Yes they might have a Knox Box. A having drugs in there has nothing to do with that. If someone has the skills to get into one of those boxes they definitely can get in through a door.
The building wasn't unoccupied, and it might not. And even though the firefighters *can* do minimal damage - they'll enjoy doing more. Breaking things is fun and better than chores. If you are who you say you are, you know full well not just what they should do but what they can and have done, especially rescuing a pretty girl.
