I grew up not really liking snakes but imgur has made me love them. I can't see them as anything as doofy 'sneks' now, damn it.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Real question: do snakes actually like being petted or handled? Like do they bond at all to their owners?

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They like the warmth, and associate owners who hold them with warmth. So, as far as I know: they like you because you are warm.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Adorable snek you have there!

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Got a Monty Python add under this. Nice

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Shouldn't have vaccinated it.

10 years ago | Likes 72 Dislikes 1

RIMSHOT.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

But then it would have contracted feline AIDS

10 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 1

It got cat AIDS because it drank one gallon of marijuana

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

10 years ago | Likes 48 Dislikes 2

Is it snek sunday or somethin? This is the 3rd snek post I've seen today. Im not complaining, I'm just wondering.

10 years ago | Likes 475 Dislikes 4

I thought the same. Sure glad I do not have a phobia :p

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I think snakes are very cool. (except the ones that can kill me. Which is kind of weird since in Texas there are a lot of rattlesnakes.)

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Same guy is postin snakes-a-plnty.

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Gosh hecking darn it, doing a snek post

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Snek Sunday should be a thing though.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I hate that I love all of your dumb internet names of animals :(

10 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 2

You spelled danger noodle wrong

10 years ago | Likes 149 Dislikes 13

Do snakes like to be petted you think? I wonder if they enjoy it the way a dog or cat does

10 years ago | Likes 96 Dislikes 1

If they're cold, they love the heat from your hands

10 years ago | Likes 80 Dislikes 0

But they tend to enjoy sitting in your hands and soaking up the warmth. Not so much petting I don't think. From my experience.

10 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 0

without flinching, she would take it in to a local day care for a little while with parental permission every week.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I'd let my snake slither around my desk sometimes and he'd nuzzle under my hand like a cat asking for pets. I assume they like the warmth

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Depends on the snake. Most of them either don't like it or don't care but some really seem to enjoy it. Warm hands especially.

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

My ball python loves lengthy stroking sessions. XD

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

However they dont really become attached to people like cats and dogs do, especially the larger or smarter species.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

If nothing else they get used to it, my sister had a boa that was so used to human contact it would allow children to poke it's face

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Not the way a dog or cat does but my snake always seemed to enjoy it and stay in petting range rather than move away

10 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

You're using past tense words :^(

10 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Fluffy is in danger noodle heaven, but he lived a long and happy twenty something year life! I'd really like another someday

10 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

+1 "Fluffy"

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Looking at the tongue flicks I say it's excited

10 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 1

similar to my gf

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's a normal way of responding to stimulus, it helps them get a better picture of what's going on around them. Like a dog sniffing.

10 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Nah there's different kinds of tongue flicks. Few and quick for threatened. Normal, consistent flicks for curiosity. This. And maybe more...

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yeah but the flicks in the gif are pretty casual and paced. Look like sniffing flicks to me. Could be wrong.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

90% of the time they're not usually a fan of it happening to their head. This guy is pretty chill but that's a good way to get bitten.

10 years ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 4

Petting the bottom of the jaw tends to provoke a bite response

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My ex had a python, it had little leftover skin from shedding on it's chin, tried to remove it... *CHOMP*.....*confused look*

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Youre supposed to apply a warm damp washcloth to the area before removing it. If it's stuck it's because it's not properly separating 1/

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

So just trying to pull it off is the equivalent of me tearing off someones callus instead of using a pummus stone or something similar. 2/2

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

That we did....but it did not appreciate my hand in vicinity of its face. Was kinda mommy's snek. Mine was a Corn Snake.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Depends on the snake; dude I know in highschool had a 12 foot albino Burmese named Chiquita Bananas he'd bring in with permission. She'd 1/2

10 years ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 0

She'd what? SHE'D WHAT?

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Check my response to my own comment ;P

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

coil around your leg if you were seated, and nose under your hand for pettings. She was a damned sweet snake.

10 years ago | Likes 32 Dislikes 0

:o that sounds so amazing.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Chiquita was an amazing snake. When she got too expensive to feed (three or four prekilled rabbits every two or three weeks) he got in 1/2
