I'm an environmental scientist and had to educate my own dad who kept sending me youtube clips from people sitting in their basements with a whiteboard, trying to convince people that anthropogenic climate change is a hoax. SciCom is needed more than ever these days, with the reach and scale and influence of the mind rot we're seeing.

Lee Mcintyre: How to Talk to a Science Denier would be a great resource for people in similar situations. Facts don't care about his feelings. People are scientifically shown to value confidence over empirical data.

I started reading IPCC reports at 16. My brother is an environmental scientist. Our dad...still believed the propaganda machine instead. We need scientific literacy, digital literacy, financial literacy, social ethics, civics, and the arts.

There have been a few flat earthers that publicly chronicled their departure from the dark side. There are also a grip of flat earthers that continue to accidentally prove globe earth models, and stick to their schtick. They have a brand and a livelihood to maintain, after all

So, I watch anti-Science debunking videos (SciManDan, Dave McKeegan, NDT, etc...) cuz I am a big fan of the details on how we did stuff.... e.g. how did we carry enough air in Apollo to last 13 days (the answer is they only pressurized the spacecraft to 5psi of pure O2, so they didn't have to carry the other gases and just carried super-cooled LOX).

Debunkers are doing incredible work out in the world. Debunking channels have vastly more followers than the disinformation channels

I think they are great Science educators... Dave McKeegan and TheVintageSpace do great jobs of sharing the intimate details of Apollo, Gemini and Mercury (TheVintageSpace's breakdown of Apollo 13 was amazing https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gQUHVYYHTb0 )

Science also gives us social statistics that humans value confidence more than empirical data. Turns out, feelings don't care about facts!

I follow the facts and the evidence to the best of oir interpretations. Ive seen zero concrete evidence that proves unquestionably that there is a god but ive certainly seen enough weird to recognize that there is a god sized hole in our understanding of the universe. Is god the only thing that could fill said hole? Absolutely not. But he would fit quite snuggly in said hole. Whenever i see say someone say their is a god or that god is "pretend" im always eager to hear their logic.

as my grandmother told me shortly before she died, "nature is my god." The entire academic category of philosophy cannot satisfy the assertion of the existence of a spooky father figure living in the sky, if you need proof of that..it becomes a matter of faith.

No one here asserted god was real. You asserted god was pretend. Is your evidence just "it jasnt been proven to my satisfaction so it cant exist" or did you have some basis for your assertion?

God "would fit quite snuggly" exactly because by definition he would fit any knowledge hole snuggly. We imagine him to be so, therefore he is so.

Or it's science but then the same argument could be made (we imagine there's a scientific explanation, therefore it must be so) but i dont think that really proves or disproves anything
