The US has multiple trees older than Human civilization. The largest and most famous is Pando, which is around 16,000 years old based on the most recent analyses. Human civilization is generally accepted to be around 12,000 years old with the development of farming and early settlements. Pando isn't alone either, there are several other similar trees across the western US.

well, yeah, cuz if you go back far enough in China's history you can still trace ethnicity, lineage, cultural elements, etc. to some degree. you go back far enough in the US's history and you'll probably find a scant couple hundred years ago, right at the beginning, there was a sudden shift in ethnicity correlating with the colonization of America by Europeans

I wouldn't think either of those is something that would even need fact checking. Everyone knows trees can live hundreds or even thousands of years, and everyone SHOULD know that trees don't just magically die at the moment of the death of the government that controls the people living on the land around the tree.

Indeed, California has one major claimant to the oldest tree on Earth, Methuselah, close to 5000 years old. Utah also has a claimant, by a different definition, Pando. Pando is a clonal colony and therefore cannot be aged by tree-rings, but common estimates are between 10,000 and 16,000 years old.
