You DO know nobody is ever going to hit your mailbox ever again?

I read this whole post in Ron Swanson's voice.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Just get a Granite post and Steel box like one of my neighbors did. Friend rode his bicycle into it (being stupid) knocked himself out

12 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

I'll take "Crazy Old Man Things" for $500 Alex.

12 years ago | Likes 144 Dislikes 1

This is the most impressive mailbox stand ever created. I want to make fun of you for overkill but as a guy this is just genius.

Snowploughs beware

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Can I have those metal downvote arrows?

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I'd like a current picture @op

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

oh my god. I love this so much. metalworking porn AND some general grumpiness...

12 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Add a shaped charge to it.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Now they die when they hit it, no more minor injuries!

12 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 5

He did say that that its brakes away if a car hits it.

12 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

OH PLEASE OP PLEASE DON'T BE THE FIRST ONE TO SLIDE INTO IT!

12 years ago | Likes 30 Dislikes 1

I think you did a mans job. You can turn a big one down, you can't turn a little one up.

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I hate to point this out as you did such a nice job, but I would guess that statistically you are the most likely person to hit it.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Anything yet?

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I'm pretty sure your mailbox could sink the titanic.

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

so how small is it?

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I'm really proud of you @op

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

OP thinks this was overkill? More like roadkill.

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

Holy shit! It's just a mailbox, man. Calm the fuck down.

12 years ago | Likes 38 Dislikes 24

DO NOT QUESTION THE MAILBOX OF DOOM!

12 years ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 0

Loving how the old one is held together by duct tape

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

What line of work are you in?

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

At the time I was the "shop guy" at an environmental laboratory; best job ever with a dream machine shop.... lathe, bridgeport mill, etc

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

All the goodies! Like a kid in a candy store ;-)

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I like the duct tape fix on the old one!

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

#7 Everyday, wild downvotes are harvested for their strength, and used as building material

11 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

xD

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

now i WANT to see some one hit this thing. post pics..

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

nicely done OP, post pics next time someone crashes into this updated version ;)

12 years ago | Likes 42 Dislikes 1

@scuba7jb any ‘customers’?!

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Hopefully it's not of a mangled corpse...

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

My ex father in law did that. The snow plow caught it, spun around, pissed the driver off. He hit it 5 more times until he broke it.

12 years ago | Likes 67 Dislikes 2

My guess is that he broke his snow plow.

9 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 0

So if someone has an accident that is no fault of their own they could hit your mailbox and die cause they are in a small car?

12 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 6

If they hit the mail box, a judge will see it as their fault. Going too fast, not leaving enough room, etc... ask me how I know...

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The deliberately skinny bolts will sheer off, leaving the post and the base undamaged. He replaces the bolts, but keeps his post+base+box.

11 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Thanks. And how is this getting attention 2 years later?

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

I have no idea.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

these things just kinda happen..

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Time travel

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Because the bolts sheer off, the resistance is non-lethal. Unless you hit it at high speed sideways, but a wood post would kill you then too

11 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 2

Thanks. And how is this getting attention 2 years later?

Future ✊?

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I'm kind of feeling like this whole project was overkill...

12 years ago | Likes 291 Dislikes 3

Any luck with the mailbox trap ? Do you even still live there ?

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

its not overkill until you start adding on pneumatic pumps that turn the mailbox into an autobot

12 years ago | Likes 44 Dislikes 0

Someday, someone will thank/curse you.

12 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

yeah 20 buck at home depot would have done it

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Overkill is underrated. I think this is awesome

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Whaaa? naaaaaah, that's crazy talk...

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Overkill as in it has the ability to kill someone to avoid inconveniencing you? Yep.

12 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

Only now, OP?

12 years ago | Likes 74 Dislikes 0

Hi from the future. How's about now?

5 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

From further in the future, there was an update a while back, it got "removed" for roadworks. Check the description again!

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

How fucked is the world now?

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Ha! Turbofucked.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Things can always get worse.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Anything worth doing is worth overdoing!

11 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Are you a boilermaker op? Seems like something one of us would do...

11 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

What about now? Anyone hit it?

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Maxim 37: There is no overkill, there is only "Open fire" and "Time to reload."

11 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

At least it breaks away or it could kill someone

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

It's your property and your money. Fuck the others

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

OP .. it's not over kill.

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

nah

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

800lbs of concrete? You didn't think oh this is overboard?

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

A car weighs around 2500-3500 lbs so I figure 800lbs is reasonable. ;-)

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

@OP how about now?

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Still nothing. :-( I'm crossing my fingers for this winter!

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Any luck?

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Nope! :-( .......... I sold the house and moved 1200 miles south to Houston. Snowdrifts are forever a distant nightmare of my former life.

7 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Congratulations!
