He put on a great show and was hilarious. At one point, he made a joke that fell a bit flat, and he shouted, "WHERE THE FUCK WERE YOU ON THAT ONE, CHICAGO? ...NO! DON'T LAUGH NOW!" and he was off and running again. IMO he's one of the best comedians today.

Unrelated: the venue, Thalia Hall, has a single, busy, communal unisex bathroom. That was a new experience. It was like the world's biggest elevator. No one spoke, everyone avoided eye contact.

Randy is Fucking Awesome and you can tell him I said so. Seriously, I don’t care if he knows.

I was there too! My group were the people who "woo'd" when Brian said he was from not square lake.

"Are you from Illinois or... the other one?"

Storytime! I met Heath in Germany with a friend who was from Australia. I then moved to Santa Barbara and he was in town to talk to some folks about a distribution deal? Something like that. We went out and had vegan food and no drinks and I smoked too much and he was hugely awesome! And cute and taken (at the time). He's super low key and dope as hell.

I first heard him on the Bob and Tom show earlier this year (I think?) and he was amazing!! Glad to see some love for him elsewhere 😆

Going to see him in Jan. He's my favorite! I'm so excited!!

Who's Randy? Is this not the Wilkins Coffee guy? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LmhIizQQol0

His Hemingway bit is epic

I mean…that’s how bathrooms work usually, right?

2 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 2

Yes, but there was an intensity to the silence and averted gazes that was different. I'm not complaining. It's probably more efficient than separate bathrooms. Usually, a crowded bathroom at an entertainment venue includes friends chatting at the sink or while waiting for an open stall. Someone clears their throat, someone blows their nose. There's "excuse me"s answered by cheerful "nah, you're good"s. This was pin-drop silence.

2 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

I only used it during his set, so for me, it was silent because everyone in there was trying to still listen. As a gal though, I thought it was fine. They even thought to tape up the awkward stall gaps that US bathrooms love to have.

His crowd work is untouchable

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

His ability to scream is uncommon. I'm so pissed that when I found out he was going to be in MN it was sold out.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I was at Thalia for this show too. Drove for 5 hours to see it. What a great show. Though I genuinely worry about that man's well being.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

How many people could use the bathroom at one time? I personally think gendered bathrooms should be replaced with adult and kids bathrooms. Otherwise they should just be the bathroom. Am I missing something that makes this a terrible idea?

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I didn't count, but I'd guess there were 10 urinals and 8-10 stalls. I don't think it was a terrible idea. It was just a new experience.

Saw him in Brooklyn and he was great

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

#BucketList As a puppeteer, his work is impeccable. I am consistently in awe of him.

Smug Druggles had me crying with laughter the whole time

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My ironing board is in one of his specials. He was living with me at the time and didn't have anything to hide behind for a show. It still has a zip tie on it from where he attached a bed sheet

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

You're a puppeteer but you have no posts about it :(

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I try to keep certain parts of my life from intersecting with one another. Sorry!

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Most of the time I completely forget that I'm watching a puppet.

2 years ago | Likes 50 Dislikes 0

That's a puppeteers dream...

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Even watching the specials on TV, same thing. How he puts so much expression into a face that can barely move is damn near magical.

2 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

Less is more. It's similar to having a masked character, such as The Mandalorian. The viewer can impress their own emotions onto the blank facade, which paradoxically helps the viewer empathize with the character at least as much as a strongly acted performance would.

Can't wait for the first season of The Randalorian.
Which I also think should be the name of the next special.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I love that he makes jokes about it, too. Doing crowd work and no one replies: "I'm looking down the fucking aisle, aren't I?" or "If you need to go to the bathroom, just go, coz I won't notice." or when someone comes on stage: "Don't go too far this way or it'll ruin the magic". And yet while he puts it all out there, somehow it's still the puppet saying it. Plus, absolutely hilarious.

I got to see him about a month ago, it was a great show.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Saw him with Sammy J when they released their album. Got that shit signed. Been sending Randy clips to my American friends for years, so I'm glad he's taken off over there so they can see him live too

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Does he not perform with his sidekick anymore? They were good together imo.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

He's pretty good yea

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Florida crayfish. They're bright blue, though to be fair, the actual meat is white.

So he actually addressed this bit in an aside. Apparently, George Carlin did a joke in the 70s about how food comes in evety color but blue, some audience member says "blueberries," and Carlin shouts, "blueberries are purple!" Randy hadn't seen / heard it. He used it as a springboard for talking about how hard it is to be original, especially now that "evetything" is available on the internet.

Guess it's part of his routine for his Feltopia tour, he did the same bit in Antwerp.

RANDY WAS IN ANTWERPEN? GODVERDOMME!

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Wenen!

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ppl also have to realize that even if someone comes up with something on their own, it doesn’t mean someone else before them didn’t already come up with the exact same thing.

2 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 0

Yeah. Had a friend who thought his OC edge lord one winged angel had never ever been done before. Basically, Sephiroth. He 100% came up with it in his own, but ... yeah. Hard to convince him he wasn't the first person.

I hadn't laughed so hard in a long time when I first heard that.

Best part? First draft, FUCK YOU HEMMINGWAY

Recently moved to Australia and as a big fan of him I'm hoping to catch a show here. Already managed to see Tim Minchin so I'm hyped.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Australia is also home to the greatest kid's/family show of our time: Bluey

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's a weird way to spell "The Wiggles". :P (I actually didn't know Bluey was Australian. Weirdly I expected to find Felix The Cat stuff here due to the creator being American / Australian)

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Bluey is quite Australian. Accents, slang, cuisine, it's set in Brisbaine, they watch rugby and cricket, they reference the Peter Wier film "Gallipoli," Christmas is in summer, and the view Earth from space in "Sleepytime," Australia is centered.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I...
I've watched a lot of Bluey.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah haven't watched any of it myself. That being said from the description it could as easily for a while there be considered South African too with the rugby and cricket :P

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This is one of Dunhams right?

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

Can’t tell if you’re joking…

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

No I genuinely wondered the source so I could maybe look it up. Apologies if I was wrong.

Randy Feltface. Dunmah wishes he's this funny.
