I was watching an episode of Mystery Science Theater 3000, some really crappy 80s SciFi movie that went directly to video back in the day... everything was awful, the special effects, writing, acting, etc... and yet the corporate baddies and the traitorous politician were still not as cartoonishly evil as any billionaire or republican now.
