I feel like this is also Willem Dafoe. His sexiest role is that fish- and my best friend is attracted to him and I feel like she’d also agree it’s the fish. She says it’s the fish
What is a hoe? Wait have you guys seen Ken Jennings comment “you can’t talk like that white baby” I LOVE HIM
You may not want to hear it but this is the correct length of shorts for men

I was raised in a time and social group where shorts were to cover the knees. This is not only uncommon now for people my age, most people don't even remember it unless they like the Kevin James huge Jorts picture. I can't help it though, you aren't supposed to see my sinful knees.

Skins was a hell of a show.
The US version is some of the worst TV I've ever seen, and I once watched an episode of Rings of Power.

@OP, you might want to tell your friend the "fun fact" I know about William Dafoe - for the movie Antichrist he was required a body double for the graphic sex scenes as his penis was "unbelievably too large"..
scrumbles666
Fun fact about Antichrist- Cannes has an special award for best performance by a canine, and the 'Chaos Reigns' fox from Antichrist lost to Doug from Up.
Something1Said
I agree with that outcome. I want awards to go to something I would enjoy seeing at least twice.

#12 I have a loft bed and my late corgi mix once leaped off it because he heard me pick up a packet of crackers. I hadn't even eaten them yet but he wasn't gonna miss out. Didn't try to use the stairs down. Just a sudden loud thud behind me and a really loud yelp. Somehow didn't break anything falling from 6 feet height, just skinned his chin a little. I never let him go up in the loft bed again lol

#6 The problem is when does it become boring and trendy? Rick and Morty Season 7 referenced “San Junipero” which is intrinsically hilarious but I worry about the fact it’s not “the future in 10 minutes’ time” but more like 2.
scrumbles666
The problem is thinking your edgy scifi show can't just be weird and shocking, but has to also say something profound every time to justify the edginess. You end up telling really trite stories about concepts that scifi has been mulling over for ages, and people get bored at something that neither provides the education of a lecture or the fun of proper entertainment.

#1 What about trans women? Why do they get lumped in with everyone else? Is this a fetish thing?
InfocalypseRising
I had assumed it was specifically because 95% of...trans discourse, I guess? is about trans women.
Something1Said
I think it's like 50% joke and 50% celebration of transmen. Transmen don't get much celebration. I don't think the celebration needs to include all the groups who also need more celebration, otherwise it'd mess with readability. It's okay for some things to be like "yay trans women" and other things to be like "yay trans men". We should have more celebration of all minority groups, and not compete needlessly.

#22 people like to rag on new starwars for bad writing, but it was never good to begin with
WoodfolkFae
I think he wasn't being literal, but was just exaggerating to emphasis how much he hated them.
Vesorias
First of all, he was talking about the whole city, not one bar. Secondly, the fascists were in that city too.
Rhythmaster
It was appropriate for what it was. It was coherent and the parts all fit together well enough for the classic hero's journey good vs evil action adventure story. It's not perfect, and before Marcia Lucas edited it it was a lot worse, but it became so iconic that now we're looking over every single line and concept with a fine tooth comb, of course we're gonna find some flaws. New star wars is a lot LESS coherent, but like, it's a sprawling franchise with many diff writers, some of it works,
Rhythmaster
A lot of it is terrible. The disney sequels were just a hot mess, missing basic storytelling 101 concepts that makes a story flow. You can pick apart whatever scenes you want, but the difference is that as a whole arc, OG star wars was a coherent trilogy, foundation was solid, no need to take it too seriously, but it feels right and you can follow the plot and suspend your disbelief. Except for Rogue one and Andor, disney hasn't been able to achieve that, they havent hired good writers/directors
PixelSprite64
I get that you have a soft spot for stuff you watched during your formative years, thats a very common thing, but 'the writing was better when the siblings were swapping spit' is a wild take
Something1Said
Wow, I'd never looked at it from that angle. What are, do you think, the best written parts of the OG trilogy? Open question to anyone. I'm curious what moments stand out. For me, the strongest moment was the famous confrontation between Luke and Vader in Empire, but is that it? I really don't think that scene is THAT good. Is there a single scene in the OG trilogy that stands up to the speeches in Andor, or the "one who knocks" scene from Breaking Bad for a non-SW example, etc?
Rhythmaster
Best film from OG trilogy is Empire Strikes Back,
PixelSprite64
eronth
Nah, but it was also all novel at the time. The samurai/western but in space (and also a long time ago instead of the future) were all novel ideas for the time. Magic, glowing laser swords, space dog-fights, etc.
Something1Said
Yeah, I can see why Star Wars was inspirational, with its fascinating world, but the OG trilogy just strike me like an incompetent tour through that world. Like bad fanfic in a great setting or something.
eronth
Honestly, that's George Lucas. He's got great broad ideas, but he struggles at delivering the moment-to-moment ideas. The overall plot is fun, the specific dialog is... lacking.

Yeah... my thighs are thicker than that dudes whole body. No one wants me in shorts that short.
danat101
Dude. The first thing I ever noticed about my boyfriend was his thighs and his hair touches the sky. Like I’m sure we’d still be dating today but the reason I noticed him was because of his tiny little whore shorts- and trust me they are THICK!! Thick thighs save lives is true of any gender
scrumbles666
Anyone into thickness wants to see your body. Anyone repulsed by it just wants to you to not exist regardless of what you wear. Do what feels safe and comfortable for yourself, but don't avoid short-shorts because of other people's shitty opinions alone.
Something1Said
I read a quote somewhere that said something like "You will never cut yourself into a shape where they will love you. Turn the blade outwards." from some anonymous online user, and I like it. We should spend less time trying to please people who hate us, as you say.
ImGoingToGoFallAsleepOnABench
What I'm hearing is, stab people who give you shit for the shape that you're in. I can get on board with that.
