Took me longer than I care to admit before I got this

Remember, only a damp sponge, not soggy - too wet and you crack the plating on the bit and it corrodes.

At home I use both, I find that a wire ball cleans the tip good enough but a sponge does it better but cools the tip

i find the plating on the tip doesn't last as long with a sponge. even worse if the water isn't distilled water
