Yes.

I wonder why someone built a sturdy channel right at that place with just the right size to take care of this. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

cool, won't have to trim the hedges anymore

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm mostly just impressed the guy recording it was smart enough to hold his phone in landscape instead of portrait orientation.

De dieu de dieu cte décente!

The hiiills are alive with the sound of GIANT FUCKING MUDSLIDE!!

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Aren't those canals made for this such thing and water run off?

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Boss: 'Why are you late?!?'. Me: 'You're not gonna believe this...'

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

And the earth won the election by a landslide

Gods, when I first saw it creeping over the other bank, it made me think of the death sludge scene in Princess Mononoke

Honestly the tree roots or branches going by I thought was the demon boar tentacles from same.

And did you know there was once a tsunami on lake léman ?

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

No, but hum a few bars and I'll fake it.

I feel like these people are not appreciating the gravity of the situation

Pussy

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Surely at least some of them know this couldn't happen without gravity.

Space Orcs

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I do enjoy the thought that humans are basically space orcs.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Truely a momentum occasion

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I think gravity is foremost on their minds.

Fluid dynamics.

It's sorta like living in Oklahoma. I hardly bat an eye at tornadoes anymore and they will kill the shit out of you.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

They are old mountain people. This isn't their first mudslide.

5 years ago | Likes 36 Dislikes 0

It's 5 AM in the morning and this isn't my first mudslide either. (what, kahlua is coffee..)

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Versus 5am in the evening?

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

like i said. It's 5 Am in the morning. My brain hasn't started up yet.

That channel has this specific purpose (plus melt water) . They probably seen it every year and know exactly what happens.

5 years ago | Likes 31 Dislikes 2

I would suggest that the channel seems to be overwhelmed by this particular mudslide.

5 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Yeah and no. The Valais is known for it's bipolar weather you got the same year the best and the worst on the fall/winter. - >

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

You can have a small mudslide the pilesup on the channel and have a sudden burst. More than once got surprised by car by overflows.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Earth be like that sometimes.

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Really? I didn’t think it be like it is.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

People don't think it be like that, but sometimes they do.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm pretty sure, anyway. I'm not exactly educated on how Earth sometimes be.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

High mineral content in that water

5 years ago | Likes 190 Dislikes 1

Should probably filter it before consumption.

Does it bring all the boys to the yard?

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Only if you’re really gneiss to them ?

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Safer to say there's a high water content in those minerals.

5 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

Seems like what i think river water in Ankh-Morpork is like.

Flint has finally cleaned its water

I suppose that supervolcanic eruption would solve the global warming process for a while.

5 years ago | Likes 211 Dislikes 4

By giving us a volcanic winter? It would need to be pretty massive. My Tambor level

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It wouldn t solve the issue of acidifaction of the oceans due to higher CO2 level...

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

You mean speed it up?

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 4

Usually, a very large eruption’s ashcloud goes around the globe, actually reducing global temperature by a degree or more.

5 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Temporarily, but the types of chemicals released into the atmosphere ultimately help with the greenhouse effect

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Only for a short while. As soon as the reflective clouds are gone, the released greenhouse gases remain and have a bigger and longer impact

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

But human population will take may years to rebuild.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It might also go some ways toward clearing up that nasty human infestation.

5 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 0

youre always free to kill yourself to free us from that "infestation"

I'm sitting here hoping Yellowstone wakes up...

5 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 2

Nah, as a geologist I see people worry about that one too mucb, but one of America's other supervolcano is more likely. Don't 1/

5 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

believe all the history channel hype, they do make all the alien shows too. Better to keep a watch on Long Valley in CA

5 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 0

Isn't the big one in New Zealand of concern, too?

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Interesting...

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Solve?

5 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Shade the earth and lower the temp

5 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 1

More like trap in heat.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

That's not how volcanic/nuclear winters work. Can't trap heat if nothing's coming in. Core sure as hell don't give off enough

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You're right I got mixed up. My bad.
