If you’re going a shooting rampage can you at least limit it to billionaire ceos and leave the world a better place? Fuck.

Wait - having Jesus in school didn't stop it??

2 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 9

A school with both prayer and the 10 Commandments being displayed? But I was told this wouldn't happen if we did these things!

2 years ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 9

They had the wrong translation of the ten commandments.

2 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 3

I went there. Graduated in 2004. I'm an atheist now, but it was a great school with great people who really cared. I can't believe this happened there. I'm having a hard time processing it. It's just so sad.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Let's see if they put as much effort into this as they did funding Luigi

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

If it was a board of directors instead of a school this story would be much bigger.

You need to move on and get over it. - Republicans

That's an ironic name to give to a US school.

2 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 9

looking from outside the USA, nope, that's about right.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Errrr.... I'm outside the US, too.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

today, we both learned something new.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Didn't they read the sign?

2 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 3

but I THOUGHT THIS STUFF WOULDN't happen at private schools‽...

2 years ago | Likes 36 Dislikes 7

they've happened at private schools before, they just don't make the news as much cuz ppl hadn't died till now. Case in point, this is from just a few weeks ago https://apnews.com/article/butte-county-california-school-shooting-1a183fcd1670d47dedeff81d9f1ce492

Damn. I was really hoping the shootings in America were going to trend toward a new venue.

An armed gunman went to shoot up a showing of Kraven at the Multiplex in Avon, MA but was thwarted by the lack of an audience.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

No no. When shit happens to other people it's divine wrath or secular nihilism. When shit happens to them it's demonic attacks or persecution. Heads, I win. Tails, you lose.

So happy murdered kids right before Christmas worked out for you to make a jab at religion in these comments

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I'm so glad religion keeps using tragedies and fairytales as an excuse to seize power and shittify my nation and the world.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

I'm betting she didn't shoot those kids and herself because of religion. You're the one using the tragedy as your own soap box.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Okay, why would you bet that? Kids in insular conditions often feel enormous pressure from religion. Do you have an alternative reason she did it that you like better??

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

Only the fact that religion has never been a motive for a teen school shooter, this doesn't seem any different. Mental health, access to guns, same as always. Of course we'll see, so who knows. In your defense, it wouldn't be the first time a religious school is targeted. This guy tried to kill kindergartners in California for example, over what's happening in Palestine. Only a few weeks ago.

As of now, they revised it to 3 dead, 2 in critical condition, and several wounded. The dead is the shooter, a teacher, and a student.

The onions post today was "first time we've had to repost this about our own home town"

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The onion is supposed to be parody, that's literally the argument they give.

2 years ago | Likes 30 Dislikes 1

Part of parody is highlighting the absurdity of reality. Something the Onion does beautifully

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

It's funny because it's true . . .

2 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Here in FInland there were a parody magazine from 70's to end of 90's early 2000's when they stopped. Reason they laid down was offically announced on public broadcast services: "Reality have become so absurd, the parodies we are writing, have become reality, and honestly, we can't come up with so weird stuff that happens now, we decided to lay down the business for good to avoid be mistaken as truth."

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I feel really bad for the people involved but what is it going to take? How many have to die? What we need is a real leader. Someone who sees the truth of it all and can get shit done however it needs doing.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Just another day in America. It's gotten to the point where its not even front page news anymore.

No, it fit where I put it. Anyone believing in Roko's Basilisk is an idiot.

Do you honestly believe there are people that believe in a thought experiment as an actual entity? Sounds like you're inventing a whole class of people to smugly preserve your imagined sense of adequacy.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 7

Do you honestly believe there are people that believe in a magical sky god that sends the people they hate to eternal suffering after they die? Sounds like you're inventing a whole class of people to smugly preserve your imagined sense of adequacy.

Lol I'm not reading that. Have fun

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 9

The real problem is that we need "more" guns in the hands of people. ***utter sarcasm***

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 3

A second grader made the 911 call...... 😔 I legit hate this timeline.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

ah yes, this country is back to normal. all is right in the world when a bunch of kids die. cant wait for the mandatory *the sound of children screaming has been removed* tapes....

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Where was their god? If the Christian god exists and didn't stop a shooting in a Christian school, they either let it happen or don't have the power to stop it. There will be a lot of prayers directed at that same god. It's all thoughts and prayers and no action.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 3

Merry fucking Christmas. *bitter*

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

What the fuck are these comments? Children are dead and it's just a lot of people using their deaths as political clout to take pot shots at religion. I'm sorry but to anyone participating in this, you're not the good guy here. Nobody laughing at dead kids has any moral high ground to stand on.

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 5

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

No one is doing that. Just highlighting the conservative agenda that bibles and Commandments are useful.n

If I had the power to do something, I would. The people who DO have the power to will not. I reserve the right to say fuck those people.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Luigi just showed people how a gunman can actually make a name for themselves, and these losers are still out there shooting up kids.

2 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 6

the shooter was also a kid

Luigi didn't start the fire. It was burning since the world was turning.

As a non American, can anyone tell me why specifically schools? I mean, I understand when it's a pupil (puberty is hard) - understand, not excuse but sometimes it's a man who just decides to mow down a bunch of innocent children. American parents must be beside themselves

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

A lot of people in a small place? Little or no security to deal with? Killing children has a greater effect on the public than adults? It's been done before and fucked up people like to copy? There are just guesses from another non-American.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

As an American parent, I freak out a little frequently. People make their jokes, which have valid points like how prayer in school didn't stop this - but I'm sitting here trying not to cry.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Maybe if enough private Christians schools have shootings the GOP will actually allow something to be done about it.

Until change happens, this will just be another Monday morning notification. Totally inundated to it.

2 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 8

It would have to be private boarding schools and other schools where the donor class send their kids. Therese were still poors' kids. /s

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Only if it directly affects the people who control the money. They don't care about children or any other people.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

this isn't the first private school shooting or religious school shooting, just the first to make headlines. Here's another one from just a few weeks ago, California https://apnews.com/article/butte-county-california-school-shooting-1a183fcd1670d47dedeff81d9f1ce492

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's an oddly ironic name for the school

2 years ago | Likes 401 Dislikes 7

Not so abundant now. Sorry, I shouldn't joke, but I'm so tired of this shit.

We have one similar here. The immaculate conception school is right across the street from the hospital's birthing center.

Abondon* Life Christian School

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's kind of a weird name for a school to begin with.

2 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 1

It's a reference to John 10:10 "I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly." Believe it or not, I was actually an ALCS student. I graduated in 2004. I'm an atheist now, but I honestly only have good things to say about the school and the parent church "City Church" formerly "Lake City Church." Of course, I can't comment on the current state of either, but my experience was a good one. Good people, good teachers, and not nearly the level of indoctrination one might expect.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

What made you think that? Tried to look it up, there is something like 40k gun deaths each year and you picked one, just ONE, and thought it meant something? Besides, I thought it was the crazies that pulled out a gun and started shooting people and why would they ever listen? It was just a coincidence that this one was “useful”, but life will just keep going on.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 21

He's out of line, but he's right

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

In the grand scheme of things you're not wrong, all the violence that's been happening will continue in all its various forms. That being said I do think it's likely the CEO shooting and subsequent widespread public support will likely inspire others if for no other reason than getting their 15 minutes of fame.

2 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

I’ll see if I can frame it. As I understand, the shooter was a Republican, not a democrat. He had his reasons for shooting, but it wasn’t to promote a leftist ideology. That was just a coincidence. There probably WILL be copycats, but they will also likely be the unstable kind. I don’t think the next one will pick such a convenient and celebrated target - they will attack someone THEY hate, not WE hate. 50/50 they could pick someone we love too. We wont get to pick the next vigilante target. :’(

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Well it's tge one thst led to a nationwide manhunt, so obviously it was important

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It wasn’t a nationwide manhunt, it was confined to the ONE city where the guy lived and where he did the crime. A nation watched it on the telly, but they were just passive observers.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Not that guy at least, apparently. He's dead though.

2 years ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 0

Weird hill to die on, but at least you're dead

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

The shooter was actually female this time.

2 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

Well, there's one I didn't have on my 2024 bingo card.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Dang. I was considering sending my daughter to an all girls school to protect her from shooters.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Statistically that's still pretty damn effective, male shooters account for 96% or so of mass shootings so it's not as if female shooters were unheard of even before this, just really uncommon.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0
