Manchester airport is the worst airport I’ve been to.
I’ve been to many airports around the world including in “3rd” world countries and Manchester airport is crap. I’ve been to Nouakchott in Mauritania Africa, Bintulu and Miri in Malaysia in Sarawak on the Borneo island.

Granada Airport a few years ago were still using paper ledgers instead of computer check in systems. Now that is a delay.

Yup can concur. My last flight was delayed with FlyBe, in Manchester. Worst airport visited.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Those three examples are all tourist gateways

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Manchester airport is THE worst airport. The building is falling down and security takes hours, literally hours.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Was this today (Sat 18/12)? My friend flew from MAN to IAD via DUB yesterday with no problems. Sounds bad for people who missed flights.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I've been to a few too but I'll take Manchester over Lyon any day

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I wonder if it has gotten worse with this fog.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

That looks like O'Hare on an average Tuesday.

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I absolutely hate every time I have to go through O'Hare. It's always a crowded hellscape. Detroit is surprisingly awesome as an airport.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Understaffed? Hmmbst it's almost like I can guess with great accuracy they don't pay their employees well enough to keep.

4 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Probably COVID. UK is pretending the Pandemic is finished so how we're facing the highest cases per day since it started.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Security industry is massively understaffed because everyone is leaving to fill better paid jobs with much better hours.

LAX holds the position of Worst Airport for me, last time I was there they blared a high pitched keening over the intercom for 30 minutes

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Omicron likes this ??

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Exporting omicron.

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

As an airport employee, people always go to the nearest TSA checkpoint, regardless of the line, and ignore the empty one 5 minutes away

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Personally I found LAX worse than Manchester.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Good. Stay home. There's a pandemic going around

4 years ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 3

If Canada would just hurry up and force airlines to return people’s money, I would, but Otherwise, I’m flying.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

email them that you tested posative. They have to give your money back.

Manchester England, England? Across the Atlantic Sea?

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Nah, Manchester, England. Across the north sea.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Terrible airport! My partner got his passport destroyed by the customs and giving no reason, we are Irish and we getting a connecting flight

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Oh and apparently lipstick is a liquid???

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

The amount of people tell me it's a busy airport in a large city, but the size of the building tells me it's a small airport in a town

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Flew out of and back into Manchester Airport once, and it was enough to make me never want to use it again.

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Yeah we always try and avoid Manchester and fly from Liverpool or Leeds Bradford instead. Much better airports

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Manchester airport sent my luggage to the wrong place

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Approx 50,000 bags are misdirected every day world wide. (Pre-covid stats).

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

And I asked a security guard for directions and she unlocked a door to a stairwell and told me to walk up to the next floor and closed it..

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

behind me. The door on the next floor was locked. The door she had let me in was also locked. I was trapped in his stairwell for several

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

minutes until a different security guard opened the door and grilled me on why I was in a locked stairwell. I still had no idea where to go

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I’m currently waiting for my delayed flight. Got here at noon for my 2:30 flight. It’s been delayed twice now back to 5:15.

4 years ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 0

I got stranded in Charlotte overnight. 3pm flight finally cancelled around 11pm after delays and new planes. Booked a flight to Philly >>

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

>> the next day at 11am and drove back home to Bradley Airport in Connecticut. Fucking sucked. Fuck American Airlines.

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Was this last night? I also had huge issues with American in Manchester.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Ah crap hope you made it on! I'm due to fly out from there tomorrow. Regretting the choice already...

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

change airports mate

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I have finally boarded the flight, about to take off!

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

3rd World refers to countries that are neutral to NATO and Warsaw Pact countries. It's not referring to how developed the country is.

4 years ago | Likes 49 Dislikes 32

Had to explain this to some dipshit at work recently

4 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 19

Earth is the 3rd planet from the sun, so technically all countries are "3rd world". xD

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Nice! :D ..... Right now I'm working on a story where it is also figuratively a "3rd world planet".

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The Warsaw Pact countries were 2nd World.

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Your username suits you well

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 2

Language evolves.

4 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 4

Maybe cold war terminology should simply be retired. It's a loaded term, loaded with both implied and unintended meaning.

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Used to be a baggage handler there and we were just so understaffed that if a single thing went wrong we couldn't recover!

4 years ago | Likes 410 Dislikes 0

Make it public! Tell the newspapers! Tell bloggers! Tell TV stations. Or else things will never change.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

This was years ago now. 3yrs on Christmas Eve since my last day. I imagine covid changed a lot

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Why uh. Don't they just hire more people?

4 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

They tried. New staff would come, see how bad it is coz we're understaffed, and leave again! So few new hires stuck it out

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

That would cost money and big boss cannot have 3 yachts and weekly hooker parties.

4 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

Remember a few years ago when people were waiting til 4am for bags from Ryanair flights? I finished midnight that night! Absolute chaos!

4 years ago | Likes 85 Dislikes 0

A fire alarm delayed all the flights and staff went home and I was the only team leader on the terminal left with all this backlog. Office

4 years ago | Likes 47 Dislikes 0

staff and firefighters came to try and get the baggage offloaded. They asked me to stay behind but I said no coz no it would have been just

4 years ago | Likes 35 Dislikes 0

me as none of the 8 team members would have stayed (normally I led a team of 4 but needs must). Not sure how it is anymore but yeah

4 years ago | Likes 30 Dislikes 0

Great job. Would recommend! Get paid to exercise, work with planes. Never again though. 3am alarms can puss off.

4 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 0

The 2008 financial crisis made zero or negative staff fulfillment standard across all industries. Lasted 16 months but once we were used to

4 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 1

I don't know about everywhere, but worked at a place like that, still have nightmares about being back there.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

"Our compensation is competitive compared to industry standards" means they'll pay you exactly what everyone else does for the same shit job

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

it, it became universal. They found piling 10 employees worth of work on 5 employees works - who cares if turnover is high due to burnout?

4 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 0

This is what happens when workers do not own the means of production

4 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Agree Manchester is the crappiest airport of them all. With a special FU to the security staff. Yet, not as crappy as Apple news.

4 years ago | Likes 80 Dislikes 4

Unless Detroit airport has changed in the last decade, I’ll take Manchester any day

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

A marine I know says he's seen flight strips where airplanes are getting shot at as they land that had fewer issues than Manchester.

4 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

that's because the biggest threats to lives and basic comfort are OUTSIDE the planes and airports in those places

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

have you been to Luton?

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Yep. Walk in the park compared to Manchester. I'd rather row my way out via the channel.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

What’s Apple news got to do with the price of fish?

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

That's where OP linked to.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

We landed a C-130 in a pasture in Bolivia, while the locals ran crowd control to keep the cows clear.

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

This story implies people actually enjoy seeing family, rather than it being an obligation to which a cancelled flight would be welcome.

4 years ago | Likes 138 Dislikes 29

Coworker is supposed to go home for Xmas. Hubby is sick. She prays it's covid so she's doesn't have to go home. Not covid.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I do hope for you that you will find that for yourself one day. All the best and Merry Christmas.

4 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 1

I feel sorry for you

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Tbh some people actually love their family. I love mine (at least the part we still speak to lol)

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That's because the 'hur dur I hate my family' trope is an online echo chamber.

4 years ago | Likes 44 Dislikes 8

Funny way of spelling joke but ok pal

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 7

They were trying to *leave* Manchester

4 years ago | Likes 83 Dislikes 1

United fans heading back to Surrey?

4 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

The truth of this is wasted on much of this website sadly

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I used to think like this.. this is the first Christmas where I'm excited to see my close family.

4 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Recently sober? Lol

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Kinda.. I'm trying lol just weed tho

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

To be clear, immediate family is great. Extended family (aka holiday family) can be a real test of patience (for most, I think)

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Yeah for sure keeping up a social mask is exhausting

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I mean... Yeah. My family is close and catch up every weekend. Xmas is going to be awesome.

4 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 0

Not to be confused with Manchester NH which has a wonderful small airport.

4 years ago | Likes 116 Dislikes 2

oh okay thanks. i was super confused

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Due to being officially named “Manchester-Boston” airport, I once witnessed some poor soul think they were at Logan where their flight was

4 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Yes. Yes it is! North Country unite!

4 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

There's Dozens of us! Dozens!

4 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Concord here!

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Warren!

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yeah, I was briefly like wtf, did the guy with the keys not show up to unlock the vending machines or something?

4 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 1

I live in CT and Bradley airport is such a cakewalk compared to other shitholes. Wish it flew direct to more international places though.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

International, even. But still almost always have to go to boston to get a reasonable flight anywhere.

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

MHT is great for flights to other locations in the northeast or to Florida

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm flying in there in a week and was legitimately concerned, thank you.

4 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

You're gonna love it. It's big enough to have major carriers but small enough to easily navigate. Not too crowded.

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Manchvegas sucks. Lol The city that is.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's no better or worse than most other small cities. A definite lack of diversity and it's kind boring, but other than that it's not bad

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Missed the plane? Try the train. Train brakes down? Try automobiles. During trip sleep in shady motels and burn the car. It'll be fun!

4 years ago | Likes 517 Dislikes 8

Those aren’t pillows!

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You think this vehicle is road worthy do you?

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I dont think we have motels in the uk

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I don't think they're flying to places in England. Most likely to places outside the island

4 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Oh.

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

*stands on rusty overgrown tracks* WHAT FUCKING TRAIN? big daddy auto said no train.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

4 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

The British remake. Starring Nick Frost and Jack Dee.
