What is this? A microchip for ants?

11 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 2

For a carpenter ant maybe.

Cloned your fingerprint

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Wha.... what is it?

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's a microchip the size of a large detailed finger. I could tell you just how big if I had a banana.

Pfffffffffffft! I built that AGES ago, OP. Where have you been?? Eh - but seriously, what does it do?

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You built a tiny thing. Or, perhaps, an appropriately sized thing.

From what i can extrapolate in this picture. There's some cache, 8 processor cores(?) a whole bunch of discrete logic and some graphics.

Am i close OP?

I made this. http://imgur.com/UqF0RZF

development :)

that's cool. Same. I'm a Lab technician and do our pcb and cad layout. Yourself?

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm a silicon design manager -- we have PCB and CAD folks as well -- all jobs are very important :)

we're a pretty small group so I have to do alot: sort and ink wafers, shipping, I have a manual ball bonder to build up die in the lab.

never a dual day :D

You're an arch :D That's the rarest fingerprint type.

11 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

... Huh. Me too. Only my right index finger, though.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I have 7/10 arches

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm... not really sure what that means.... should I hide? what do I do?

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

No no no, you're fine. No one can identify you, don't worry. I just wanted to be proud of what I know from a high school forensics class.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

You say it's rare -- what percentage of people have this type?

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

well each finger has a different fingerprint, but about 5% of fingers have it.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Fingerprints can be organized by styles. Most are more of a swirl, yours has an arch shape: the triangle under the chip in the picture.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

it's actually called a whorl, not a swirl. There are whorls, loops, and arches, as well as variants of those. ex: ulnar loop, tented arch.
