Well they now have smart phones in a more classic design and shape. They're reasonable priced compare to other clam shell shapes as well at about $700 and they actually have the outside screen compatible with a lot of apps. Very cool honestly.

There's no music app for phones with a shuffle function as good as an iPod's, and I mourn not being able to use mine in a car anymore.

My wife has I think 5 iPods. 2 are in daily use, one in the car and one at home, as music players. A third lives on the kitchen counter and gets used as a family alarm clock (every timed daily chore, when to leave for work, etc).
The old 4GB hard drive based one that I bought her still works but is not in use anymore. There's one that doesn't work, I think maybe trashed hard drive or something.

i bought a philips gogear vibe, purple, 4gb in 2005. I'm still using it. Doesn't need much space to carry around, love the sound and easy to use. I have a smart phone but why mess around with that if my go works just fine?

I refuse to combine my devices. I have a Sony Walkman to play music, a tablet to do nonsense, a nightmare rectangle to call or text people, and a PC to play games or surf the -internet.- I shouldn't have to be filing through texts while on the phone with someone, that's just overwhelming.

I get this sentiment.
I have an Android phone, but I also have an Android based gaming handheld (Retroid Pocket 5), and a Kobo eReader, because it's nice to have separate devices for some purposes. Particularly entertainment devices. It's good to be able to ignore the phone and just read a book or play some games.

It sucks that it is becoming increasingly difficult to legally have your data be your own. So many software/data purchases these days (music/movies/games/etc) are more like a lease than ownership :(

For a few years after the advent of smart phones I continued to carry both an ipod and an LG Rumor cellphone. When I upgraded to a smart phone I thought it was a lot better just carrying one device. Now I wish we could go back.

These cameras appear to be having a bit of a come-back. They can still work well and take good photos which some people prefer to photos taken on a phone. Petsonal hoice

Yeah, unfortunately. I had a Panasonic ZS99 on my radar when they came out early this year at $499. I decided to wait a month or two and see if I still wanted one (I'm a bit prone to impulse purchases). The fad kicked in on it and you can't get one for < $1100 now.

Thats what young people don't realize, there aren't photos of everything we did because no one had a camera, now everyone has one. At most one person would bring a camera to a party and would take pictures for the first half hour then they would be too distracted.

The advent of the MP3 player was a game changer.

Digital cameras were so exciting when they came out, but it's funny because sharing those images wasn't even on our radar then, we just thought it was cool to be able to see pictures right away. Even though they would live on those cameras forever.

The first digital camera my family got back in the mid to late 90s had about 256 pixels.
It was like the first photos sent back from mars.

I remember paying $20 for like a 2gig SD card for my little camera.

Had a friend who owned a camera that saved pictures to floppy disks. I forgot to what brand camera but, the pics were extremely high quality and looked good for having such low pixels... I've never seen anything like it.

I mean that kind of makes sense now that there's a way to share the images on them with other people. And for traveling especially, when you maybe don't want to be waving your expensive phone around all the time.

I feel bad for all you people who need information as much as I do but can only get it thru the narrow lens of the cell phone. there is so much internet out there. so much you could say if you typed it quickly instead of touch pad. so many links to provide... so many thumbs to view all at once... and none of that is possible on the cell phone. no wonder everyone is getting depressed using their phone all day. You need a computer for the ammount of internet you use.

Whilst I agree with you for the most part, your statement about how you need a computer to enjoy the full internet is no longer true. The internet has adjusted and there's maybe a few super old sites that arent optimized, but you can still visit them. So idk where you get this idea from?
I still think people need a computer though! Pc master race and all! :p
