Chicago style pizza is highly underrated.

Chicago pizza (aka Pan, Stuffed, Deep Dish, Pies, etc.) vastly differ in style from New York style pizza because it has a raised crust, and it's sauce is located on top of the cheese.

What makes Chicago deep dish so special?

One of the greatest things about Deep dish is that the crust is crispy on the outside, and fluffy on the inside. However, this is not at all like "Pan" pizza that you would find at Pizza Hut or Little Caesars. Those abominations are 90 percent crust, 9 percent shame, and 1 percent others. As you can see by the picture above, the crust on the outer edge is raised, this gives you more ability to add toppings. (Fork and knife recommended, but not required).

Lou Malnatis is the classic Chicago style.

Places like Giordano's and Uno's are still pretty good, but they stray too far away from being "Classic" deep dish. One thing that you will never find on a Normal Chicago deep dish.... Is pineapple. Don't get me wrong! I love Hawaiian pizza, but it's not meant for the Midwest. I'm sorry.

A Valentine's Day heart tax for you all

If you're ever in Chicago, or any of the surrounding suburbs, I highly suggest giving Lou Malnatis a try. ALSO they're opening a new restaurant In Phoenix, Arizona some time in either May or June this year. So if you're passing through Phoenix, you can still give a shot at something new. It's not cheap to ship things with dry ice. So if you're in the area, stack up on your frozen pizzas, and bring them home with you. Much more cost effective.
