While you might have asked the question in error it does bring up the key point that when using the windows-up method to ignore automotive issues it means you're running your car's climate control every time you're out driving. Normal people might keep the windows up when they're running the A/C, but *we* get to keep the A/C on because the windows are up. :-/
I like how they show a tie rod and label it a ball joint. While, yes, both use a ball and socket joint, a tie rod and a ball joint are not interchangeable.
Jack up and wiggle the tire left/right for tie rod and up/down for half shaft (CV axle) is what I was taught. Bounce test (push down on bumper) for bad struts/shocks. Usually though when I am doing an axle, I do the entire frontend. Rubber gets old and I'm already in there anyways.

A few YouTube videos and a trip to Harbor Freight for tools will fix most of these without too many problems. Specialty tools can be rented from auto parts stores for pretty cheap. Making friends with someone who knows cars helps too.
Ok, but the ball joint is very important. If and when it goes, your wheel falls over, meaning your car will swerve to whichever side it falls from. Also, your car will be stuck where it ends up until a tow truck shows up.

I had told every mechanic I took it too (for regular oil changes) that it made an awful noise when turning and they all said “we would look into it” and no one ever said squat about my ball joint. Then the front driver wheel literally fell the fuck off while I was driving. Luckily it was at a low speed. The tow truck guy said it should have been obvious to any mechanic that it was the ball joint based on my description. Why didn’t anyone tell me?!?!
Yeah, it definitely should have been made clear to you. The job isn't too bad to do if you have pneumatic tools either. So I don't know why they wouldn't want the work.

Oh, everything can be fixed. It's just a matter of will the amount it cost to do all those fixes work out to be cheaper than just getting a whole new car.
Depends on the car, tbh. I got apparently the cheapest fukin thing to fix, an old Dodge Neon. Whole new suspension kit runs like 400 for it, engine rebuild (if you know how!) kit is barely 100. I could solve most of these problems for less than a grand, and you can't buy a car for that cheap hardly. Cept said Neon, which I got for five bills and it *does* need a whole new suspension. Also needed new cooling and did the front brakes, plus towing it home, still in under 1500.
