I would rather they last less than a head of cabbage if they are garbage. We have to keep ours even if they do horrific things.

There's people in this world who deserve to die and it's seldom those who actually are dying. We should remedy that

Meanwhile in Australia the Prime Minister is about to throw 240,000 disabled people, mostly autistic, off the National Disability Insurance Scheme in a "fraud cutting measure". How exactly throwing the disabled people off the scheme and not the providers that're doing the fraud is supposed to fix the fraud, no one seems to know. And what's sad is that only the Greens, who both the Labor centrists & conservative right hate, are the only ones talking about the people that will be hurt.

Labor and its voters are too busy insulting the Greens, despite needing the preferences from Greens voters to ever form government, and screeching about prior bad legislation that got blocked over a decade ago while the conservatives are chasing after the fascists and their redheaded messiah screaming about how they can be fascists too and ignoring the problem entirely because they're the ones who allowed their friends to become fraudulent disability care providers.

Corbyn has his share of blame too. He failed to advocate for remain, and led the party to its biggest ever defeat. Yes, the right wing press played its part but so did his purges for idealogical purity and his 70’s style economics. If he had stood up for Remain, fought against the ‘project fear’ lies and comprised his policies a little towards the centre, he might have won in 2019 and everything since (Boris, Brexit, Farage, Liz) could have been avoided.

We should do a lot less compromising toward the centre. Left-wing economic policy is correct, right-wing economic policy is leaving the Earth uninhabitable. That said, Corbyn has his share of the blame for being a tankie. Russia are at fault for the Ukraine war, end of discussion.

Well Canada PM Mark Carney ran as a centrist. Improve healthcare, improve housing, blah, blah, blah.

What we got is a PM who said that Iran was worth it. He cut healthcare spending, fired 1000s of employees, has a A.I, minister, not no labour minister. Gave blank cheques to developers, then 100s of low income and affordable housing projects have been cancelled.

Carney is a trickle down economist. He has blind assets in housing and likely military. Our housing minister is a real estate mogul.

Carney got rid of all environment protections, investing in A.I, is working with a separatist in Alberta to build a pipeline that is likely illegal. He's investing billions into military, but slashing budgets across Canada. He's cutting taxes for the rich and corporations. He's still falling for Trump's garbage and trying to make CUSMA work. You can negotiate with a mad man.

Carney's comments and support for Israel and the war in Iran is fucking disgusting.

I'm voting for Avi Lewis next.

Canada is once again expecting a neoliberal l'air to avoid Maple Maga bullshit.

Canada will never be able to pay off this debt, Canada's people are struggling and once again our government is focused on the needs of the vast few over the needs of the many.

Did he last longer than a head of lettuce? Or was it cabbage?

Also he allowed the systematic destruction of waterways and did absolutely nothing to pay NHS workers properly.

If my memory serves me correctly Keir was also at least partly behind the Israeli-led push to oust Corbyn with waaaay exaggerated and even false accustions of antisemitism because Corbyn expressed sympathy for Palestinians.

It's Israel's go-to play of calling anyone who disagrees with them, an anti-semite.

1 month ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 0

Thankfully doesnt seem to be working as much any more

Because Jews are being used as Human Shields against any genuine and warranted criticism of Israel.

He got his money and walking away without zero repercussions. He's winning it seems.

1 month ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

"without zero repercussions" sounds like losing to me.

Maybe you mean, "with zero repercussions"?

1 month ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Normally repercussions implies something more serious than losing a popularity contest

1 month ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Thank you. That is what I meant.

That dude is as much a symptom as Trump. Neither of them are truly the problems in our respective countries.

1 month ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

A lot of the problem is rich people's money going towards convincing the poorly educated that brown people are.

You forgot the word “fucker” on the end there.

1 month ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

Wait are you talking about Starmer or Corbyn?

1 month ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Starmer

1 month ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Oh definitely. I meant corbyn is the goat

1 month ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Oh yeah, that guy definitely doesn’t fuck goats

Even if he wanted to, Starmer’s got ‘em booked

1 month ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Corbyn had the charisma of a potato, but was also the perfect example of how money and media control politics and how antisemitism can be used to destroy anyone.

1 month ago | Likes 40 Dislikes 2

Sorta, kinda. He has that proto Bernie energy, just untapped. If I recall correctly, a bit like his friend Lula da Silva from Brazil. Beloved by the folks he represents, but he does have an image problem, often because his passion gets him into trouble in the UK's overly polished political process, full of machinations.

If he does connect with modern messaging, like some leftist politicians are doing elsewhere, he can perform well I think. Farage has the charisma of a burning orphanage...

1 month ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Fuck charisma smh

1 month ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Most would.

1 month ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Charisma Carpenter?

1 month ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Whereas Starmer exudes charisma out of every pore in his entire body

1 month ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

The best politicians are the ones who actually *do* the job, not spend all their time convincing you they are. Fuck charisma, competence is what's needed.

This is why Republicans went all rabid dog against Hunter Biden. The alternative was to attack Joe Biden for repairing the economy, signing EO’s on trans rights, and forgiving .5 Irans worth of Student Debt

1 month ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Corbyn thinks NATO is at fault for the Ukraine war. That cancels all his competence, IMO.

1 month ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

Ok, so which party was that guy from?

1 month ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

Labour.

1 month ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

corbyn is the former leader of labour (he's the guy starmer replaced after getting kicked out) and the current leader of your party (not a joke that's actually its name https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Your_Party_(UK) )

Don't forget the fact he greenlit unprecedented levels of state surveillance and censorship, and for bonus points was openly transphobic and socially conservative.

And licked Trump's boots and got nothing for it, too...

Reminds me of a little someone that said, "We will have the most lethal fighting force in the world!" When trying to appeal to the left.

Nooooo, it was just because she was a black woman. Do not interrogate the issue any further!

It was honestly surreal reading articles about him (not UK here). Everything I read about him from before he became PM led me to belief he'd be at least left leaning. After he became PM all the articles were about him doing typical conservative or right leaning things. I am honestly surprised he lasted as long as he did.

1 month ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

He said he was going to make a nationalized power company (a thing the UK government could do with extreme ease, and should do) and then just didn't. I always knew he was a conservative in a labour jacket, but it turned out worse than I anticipated.

not to mention that said surveillance and censorship has directly encouraged efforts to pass similar laws in countries like the united states, canada, france, and australia. for the us residents here: https://www.badinternetbills.com/ (if similar sites exist for other countries, feel free to reply with links).

When was the last time the UK had a Prime Minister that lasted a full term? Seems like they last 1-2 years at best nowadays with some not even lasting as long as a head of lettuce.

1 month ago | Likes 46 Dislikes 1

One-third of all the UK's post-WW2 prime ministers have been in the last ten years.

1 month ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

aww gg you stole my joke..

1 month ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

They only need 2 years to line their pockets and those of their friends.

Capitalism is collapsing and no one interested in ruling has any interest in helping the people

1 month ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

There have been 6 in the last 10 years
David Cameron lasted the longest of those 10 - 2010-2016
His also the only one in that time span to last the full 5-year term (he got a second mandate in May 2015 and then stepped down after the Brexit referendum in 2016)

1 month ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Of those 6, Rishi Sunak was the only one who did not resign as PM (because his Tory party was replaced by Labour, leading to Kier Starmer).

1 month ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

I think David Cameron lasted 6yrs, & only resigned (2016) because he didn't want to lead the UK out of Europe following the Brexit referendum, a decision he was against. But, as he allowed the referendum, I hold him responsible for the disastrous outcome.

1 month ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 1

Fun fact (n.b. it's not fun) - the government were legally required to hold a referendum on Europe. There was a late night vote on it in parliament near the end of Tony Blair reign, which passed (it was basically a "we the government agree to hold a referendum on Europe" vote, not binding legislation as such, but puts mechanisms into play that mean it has to happen). It was something stupid like 20 people left in the house when the vote happened.

Never knew that! Thanks.

Corbyn, while being spot on about this and many other things, thinks that NATO are at fault for the Ukraine war. He's a tankie - a pretend leftist who admires Russia's brand of authoritarianism - and that makes me question everything else he claims to believe. Russia are almost as monstrous as Israel, and anyone who can't ID them as monsters is compromised.

1 month ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 3

That is not at all true.

1 month ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 3

The man is a tankie and cannot be trusted unless you want to swap America for Russia on the world stage. His aims align with Putin's even closer than Trump's do, because at least Trump isn't coherent enough to intentionally try to dismantle NATO, only to damage NATO constantly by accident. War is bad, yes, but NATO prevents Russian expansion and Ukraine is an extremely obvious demonstration of that but he is willfully blinded to that for... some reason.

1 month ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

The second world war never ended. It became the cold war, which also never ended. Russia still wants to conquer Europe and would begin doing so immediately if they could, in the same spirit and for the same reasons the USSR expanded. NATO can cease existing when the reason for its creation (protecting Europe from invasion by the Russians) also ceases existing and not a day before. Russia must cease its imperial ambitions, and fuck anyone who thinks that Imperialism is okay when Russia does it.
