Pretty much all countries owed the holocaust survivors, and even more to the victims, because of their behaviour up until Nuremburg. Most countries refused refugees. They didn't want a state in the US or Germany. They wanted their "holy land" back; anything else would just have been a temporary compromise, the goal was always, for the last almost 2000 years, to return to that land.
As for "Palestine", Britain gained control over that land after the Ottoman Empire decided to go to war with them in WW1 and lost to them in the process. When you lose a war of aggression, your enemy typically gets to do whatever they want with the land, including give it away.

I would love for them to do that! I grew up in New Mexico. The whole miserable spit of land they are fighting over would easily fit in an unused corner. Wtf would we include Texas?
