Stormare played an amazing devil, I just wish he was paired with a Constantine that was actually the comic book Constantine. Nothing against Reeves, but the character they had him play was just not Constantine. The wit and humor of Constantine were just not there and Constantine was never the type to grab a gun and go in fighting himself when he can trick the demons into defeating themselves. Reeves felt like some grim edgy character inspired by Constantine rather than the comic character.

But I never read, or have even seen, the comic, so I cannot comment on that. All I know is I liked the movie and the character he played.

I have an extensive collection of Hellblazer (the title of Constantine's comic books) comic books. If DC published his first stories today the outcry against his "wokeness" would be extreme. His very first stories, written in the 80s do things like villify Christians and the church for their treatment of gay men, the church is one of his main antagonists early on because of it, its also full of a metric ton of feminism I'm genuinely surprised his comic book iteration hasn't become more popular.
