Let's get this bread
Cahokia and Chaco Canyon both seem to really start kicking off around 1054, which was when the supernova that created the Crab Nebula happened.

I'm trying.
Or cryptic masculine urge, in my case. Changing this meme to fit me specifically felt like erasure.
If i ever propose again it will be via sword or dagger. Also I actually once owned two of these in the photo... they weren't antiques.
It's cool that this style of display feather has evolved multiple times in birbs.
Pippin tax!
Today's message from Pippin: "pickle pickle pickle i love you." ("Pickle pickle pickle," hilariously, is a phrase Pippin picked up from one of Kayla's ring-necks!)
___
1) Are you on the run to a safe place and passing through Arizona on your way to safer grounds? My apartment is open to you to crash at, and it is a safe space. Pippin and I will make you a meal and gladly share tea, wine, or mead with you.
2) Hey! Take your meds with a full glass of water, please. Do it for Pippin, or Space Mom, or better yet, do it for yourself.
3) Ĝefeloað wē. We will carry on.
4) all funds from the sales of items at these two links will be sent to support charities aiding to fight for Trans rights in the US (not just T-shirts!)

#5 ain't no one talk to golden baby skeleton man like that

#36 I try to cultivate the nonsense. Become entwined with it.

#5 I like to think of this as a potential disguise for a demilich, gentleman undead mage about town. The tiny cane skull IS the demilich, has the jeweled teeth, each capable of trapping a soul. The "body" of the lich is just a simulacrum or similar undead, but the essence is the cane. Blimey, here comes Acererak out for his nightly stroll. He seems such a nice man if you discount the bitter cold you feel as he draws near.
GentryFriedRichFillets
#24 Swap out "cowboy" with " quasi feral cryptid," and I am right there, too.

DeamgonDork
#27 honestly I agree. We should start one of those cults, but like in a cool sexy way.

#1 It's a sandwich all the way down. Even the tortoise holding up the world is also technically a sandwich.
writerdahling
#38 Hell yeah we do. We don't care if they're antiques usually, we just like that they're art created skillfully and beautifully.
Kats8652
#1 whipped cream and ice cream sandwiches are totally a thing in Japan, is it good? Ymmv.
baldbear
What is Ymmv?
Kats8652
"your mileage may vary"

#5, I was gonna say make it into a puppet. When they talk back, just mock their voice while using the skull puppet....

#12 While my SO and his friends were out hiking, one of them suddenly yells "eagle!" And throws his hand up into a salute. The other friend takes a good look and friends, saying "that's a turkey vulture." Friend is still in salute, does not take it down. (We live in an area with plenty of eagles. It was not totally out of the question.))
SleepyHollowAppleTree
#1 What devil is this, are you following me? I told a friend the other day to have sandwiches and ice cream because it was too hot to cook.

#22 Cohen: you shee a cow in a field. Tish evening, you will tesht your new dentshures on it!

#9 all based on what some guy called Saul said would be the best way to worship that guy that came to him in a vision on "the road to damascus". Ok, sure bud let's all just GIVE UP circumcision!

#9 these remind me of another:
A white church in the Deep South. Pastor enters to find a little black boy kneeling before the altar. “What are you doing in here boy?” he roared.
“Just scrubbing the altar steps sir” says the boy
“Well that’s fine, but don’t you let me catch you praying!”

#14 They say Grendel from Beowulf was nearly invincible and ravaged mead halls; might have been a polar bear. I’m sure Bears would see him a kind of Hercules.

#42 Black metal would end entire royal bloodlines, as it was intended to.

Pippin learning a phrase from another bird gives me big feelings. Like animals of different species learning from each other just as humans learn things from animals we really are all just one creature on this big planet all connected. I'm not even on drugs just high on love.
writerdahling
I could have commented on so many of these. Most of this post is my vibe. Long live whimsy!

#21 Oh, deer. I now have a different impression of Gary Larsen's "Cow Tools" comic.

#14 the humans even named two large constellations after you, as well as two land formations

#8 Silly me ~ I actually tapped the OK button so as to proceed

#45 Love your comment on this. I find convergent evolution fascinating wherever it is, but this one seems really special given the time frame and type of creature.

Right? Return to origin: grow long tail plumes

#42 weren't the medieval nobles the ones who's idea of "having a good time" was knocking each other from horses in mock battle?
lizardbones
that was only low-tier nobles. high tier nobles just watched the lowers knock each other off horses
ParaspriteHugger
Didn't Henry #8 (or whichever he was) get that nasty leg injury from jousting? Or was it unusual for someone in his position to have a go?
lizardbones
possibly. i may have been a bit too confident in information i learned over a decade ago
yeomanscholar
Yeah, sorry to break it to you but imagine if today's billionaires had been trained from a very young age in MMA that had the popularity of soccer and the social clout of tennis. You think they wouldn't charge in there?
yeomanscholar
Though I'll note it was distinctly mixed - many kings did not joust but many high nobles did and many did not, often depending as with so many things, on if those higher in the hierarchy valued it.
tavinjer
#2 that’s a Mark Rogers painting! He’s great — he does series of pictures like this that tell weird stories. Meanwhile, anybody got a source for #4?
AntaNce
Seems to be associated with 'the kranken files' a horror game. Fanart, I think.
tavinjer
Huh! I’ll have to check that out, thanks for digging!
tavinjer
(That’s apparently a file hosting site, but that’s ok)
AntaNce
Oh well, I tried :)
WellWellWellLookWhoItIs
#6 The internet has taught me this critter is probably poisonous. is it poisonous?
WellWellWellLookWhoItIs
A for more minutes of internetting confirms that it is indeed poisonous. Or venomous. Depending on the means of interaction.
WebMaka
VERY venomous and hazardous to touch - contact will leave welts where you touch it because those spines will break off in skin. Those things are nasty to discover by accident while doing yard work.
WellWellWellLookWhoItIs
"while doing yardwork" I'm sure I don't have to worry about that, this thing's yards are probably in far flung exotic tropical regions or, like, Australia. Well, whaddyaknow. Now I have another new thing to worry about.
WebMaka
Southern Florida has them - I've personally found them on the undersides of low-hanging palm fronds. When I ducked under them. And subsequently dragged multiple saddlebacks across my face and neck.
Which is rather unpleasant. And by "rather unpleasant," I mean "screaming and clutching body parts in pain while fiery welts erupt across every surface they's touched."
Nope, do not like...

#41 Good news! Billionaires can be attacked with swords, not just molotovs and guillotines.
JimmieRustlin
it's a shame we only have people willing to type about swords and not any willing to actually, you know, swing them.

annonymouse211
They do say lots of things about diversifying our portfolios so this seems like what they must mean. We should go ask them loudly and make sure it's optimally balanced.
MayMayz4DayzYo
What I’m hearing is that we need numerous large scales to balance the heads of billionaires on. I like it.
ParaspriteHugger
Getting. Anywhere near them is the hard part, I think.
MayMayz4DayzYo
That’s quitter talk. *adds RPG w/laser targeting to cart*

Can Ukraine send back a couple stingers? We've got some pesky flies to take care of
Rogahar
That's not a sword, though.
Now, if you strap it to a large enough sword, it would technically then be a rocket-propelled sword.
MayMayz4DayzYo
Well that’s just crazy enough to work!
lordnequam
I don't think a sci-fi D&D game is going to solve this problem...
MayMayz4DayzYo
Not with that attitude…
