Wouldn't it be easier and more comfortable all around to take the shoe off before doing all that work? Let the dogs breathe for a few minutes while this guy/gal blowtorches the funk off of the shoes?

2 months ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Shiny, but what a horrendously narrow and pointed shoe for an actual human foot - it's as bad as a woman's shoe!

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I assume that shoe was made dirty as shit for this video because god damn. Neglecting the poor things that badly is criminal.

2 months ago | Likes 54 Dislikes 4

My Dad has neglected many a shoe or other item in his long life, so he has shoes that look like that.

Why use your hands?!? Something about it is like nails on chalkboard for me

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

He turned that really ugly shoe into a really nice and shiny ugly shoe.

2 months ago | Likes 33 Dislikes 2

I know, right?? Those shoes are abhorrently unflattering.

Check our Mr Shoe Shine on YT. Lots of great videos.

In fact, this video is probably Mr Shoe Shine, too.

That seems awfully extensive to be doing when there's a foot in the shoe. If you're going all-out, ask them to leave the shoes with you for a bit

2 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

This is done at or near the actually work place for some reason. Theyll set up in high traffic areas and sometimes it may be out front of an actual shoe store but it's intended to be done quickly. Also snobs enjoy paying rubes to polish their shoe while it's in them. Sometimes the shoeshiners are verbally abused for their tip. Some of the more experienced ones will get slapped a bit too. It's like a holdover from the robber baren days.

Turn up the sound--this is some lovely ASMR.

Is this just a secret way to get a foot massage from another man, because I'm down

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

So satisfying but what about the heel :(

2 months ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 2

Linus only ever shined the front because he didn't care what people thought as he was leaving.

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

you generally don't shine the heel much. but yes, it would be much easier if the foot wasn't actually in the shoe.

2 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Never understood why you would leave your foot in there.

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

What about the heel?

2 months ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 2

He will die on eet

Shiny shoe cool... the salmon socks... not so much.

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Fantastic shine. Truly unsettling cankles though

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That'll be two pennies, thank you sir

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I've shined a shoe or two in my years but this is impressive

2 months ago | Likes 106 Dislikes 0

I've been missing the blowtorch step.

2 months ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

This guy has done at least 3

2 months ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 0

In a MarkTwainian style ruse, my dad taught me that shining shoes was fun. Remember spending a whole Saturday shining shoes and singing Flirting with Disaster. The skill served me later in life

Don’t usually see a reference to Molly Hatchett Nyerere very often…..

Y’all damn sure know what I mean

I spent some time as an Army Cadet (had to leave as the organization really attracted folks who were on power trips). I don't believe that I got anything out of the experience other than a love of shining shoes.

I impress my friends when I show up with polished knee boots and purse

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I bet! Polished knee boots would look amazing!

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

To quote MST3K: I like bootblacking, i like it very much

2 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Having my shoes shined was a great guilty pleasure.

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I had no idea my shoes could grow beards and needed a shave. And also I did not know that I should be reminding my shoes who's in charge with a brief flambé.

The fire seems like a bit much

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This is relaxing to watch every time its posted.

2 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

That's not a shoe shine, that's a shoe spa day!

2 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

If a cow could watch and understand this do you think they would be delighted by the reverence of horrified by the association?

2 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

There are some unnecessarily loving and sensuous hand strokes thrown in there. Well done.

Does that cost extra?

I am enamoured by both of these equally.

I went to a kink con a year or so back. There was a guy there whose whole shtick was shining and polishing leather - shoes, harnesses, straps, whatever. He was clearly very much into leather, but he was a fucking master of his craft. If I hadn't been watching him, I would've sworn he'd thrown their old leather out and made them new ones with how pristine they looked when he was done.

Bootblacks, I've been one for many years. The true experts can be wizards with shoe repair, leather repair, reconditioning, dying, the works.

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I went to a kink con recently and there was an entire row of bootblacks, with customer chairs aimed to view the main stage performers. 10/10 experience

2 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

This is how I was taught to do it as a kid. But with spit.

2 months ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 1

I was taught that underwear was the best to shine and polish

2 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

All right, then show us what you've mastered.

2 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

2 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

…which is the spit part?

2 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I have shined a few shoes, but I've never used fire.

2 months ago | Likes 36 Dislikes 0

When I was in the Army we'd melt the polish, but never (intentionally) set it on fire.

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

on some things a quick flash fire really helps. its rarely done for things over other methods available but it does a damn good job if done properly. saying it this way cause its not just for shoe shining.

2 months ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

Also effective in anti fascist protests

2 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

I have shined a few shoes, now I got to start using fire!

2 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I use a heat gun. Same effect with less chance of accidentally spilling flaming wax.

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

We used to set fire to the polish and put in on liquid and warm...

2 months ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

I read that as Polish. Like, the people. And I was pretty horrified for a second there.

2 months ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Oh, me too, since people forget details like capitalization nowadays. Thank goodness it was actually shoe polisj

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I used to heat it up on an iron. just enough to soften it, you don't want to liquify- that ruins the polish left in the can.

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It’s a cheat. It quicker and looks pretty clean but can’t beat a normal spit shine

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Melting shoe polish increases the shine and allows the liquid to penetrate the pores in the leather. I do this with my Kiwi Parade Gloss black. You get a mirror like shine.

2 months ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

I'm running low on my kiwi polish. It was THE polish when I was young in cadets. Now my own kid is in cadets and we're running low on the last tin. I'm not willing to pay what they're going for on eBay now.

Do you know of any other option that will give that kind of shine on military boots?

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Lincoln polish was superior. Kiwi was just more availible.

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Kiwi is expensive. Hopefully you still have edge dressing. That stuff is the bomb. Stop by your dry cleaners or shoe repair, ask what they have. Meltonian is another good brand. After you are done polishing, put a little 70% isopropyl on a soft rag, use that to buff, then switch to a different cloth.

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They called him “Spit-Shine Tommy”, made your shoes look like fucking mirrors.
