Remember, if you ever meet a dude that seems to be really into Minecraft trapdoors, he probably covered up a swastika.

I hate that I have to mark my sarcasm.

That's not a Minecraft Trapdoor, that's a greyscale rendition of the Microsoft Windows logo

4 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Hopefully he's actually changed. No sympathy for Nazis, but I can appreciate people walking away from it and changing for the better.

4 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Sign that he evolved into a better mindset?

4 months ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Hopefully, I've known 2 people with tattoos like this. They both got them when they were young and stupid and didn't understand who it was keeping them down and now really regret them. They went for this rather than something less obvious as a way to invite conversation.

4 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Why not just get it removed or covered up (with an actual new design) instead of leaving it in it's obvious half-assed state where you can still tell what it was. Like, is it just about the money and being able to afford laser removal or a non-shitty cover up?

4 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Did you not read my comment? I clearly said it was a way to invite conversation. Meaning they want to talk to others about the mistakes they made, both to hopefully prevent others going that route and to show people that change is possible.

4 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Why does he have a tat of a carb spacer?

4 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

And, if we want to make the world better and kinder, there are good reasons some people make this change.

Certainly some do it to hide their bigotry, but others are trying to move past the anger and ignorance of their past, and that should always be encouraged.

4 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Hey if we make it look like a window, they won’t see that it is a swastika

4 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The tattoo master is as smart as him…

4 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Still better hidden than these morons

4 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Is it covered up because he rejects what he believed? Or because he doesn't want people to judge him for what he still believes?

4 months ago | Likes 47 Dislikes 3

Ask the dragon

4 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Either way if theyre smart enough to feel some level of shame, theres hope of rehabilitation

4 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I think if it was a fear of rejection it wouldn't be so obvious. This looks like a statement of rejection.

4 months ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

More likely a stupid ass half measure so all his nazi friends know he’s still one of them.

He’s still associated. Secret symbols for conspiracies are as old as conspiracies.

4 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Yeah, but crossing out a symbol is different from wearing an obscure one.

It needs to be secret to be secret, and that's . . . just so obviously a covered swastika. There's nothing else that can be. It's not a riddle from the sphynx. Even if it's not a covered swastika and he just really likes Minecraft trapdoors, that's a covered swastika to anybody who looks.

4 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Seems like this one was less about covering it up because he changed his views and more about covering it up because he didn't want to be judged or accosted whenever he took his shirt off.. But wanted to leave something that would be recognizable to those "in the know" (a dog whistle).

4 months ago | Likes 30 Dislikes 16

People change. . I don't know him but I will assume he covered it up.

4 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

The man appears to be a cage fighter. Getting accosted when he takes his shirt off is his day job.

I don't think it's wise to leave people with no off-ramp from extremism.

4 months ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 2

People don’t change in significant ways like that. It’s a nazi dog whistle.

4 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Yeah I kind of respect this man for presumably being able to improve himself and correct his past mistake. I could be wrong of course and he could still be a dingus, but I don't know him and I choose optimism until I am proven wrong.

4 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Exactly, it's forgive and forget, you dont have to forget but if someone is willing to put in the work, we on the otherside do as well. It's not a 505/50 thing but sometimes people make mistakes and they will go back if they dont have anyone on the otherside supporting them.

4 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Lotta people in federal penitentiaries get these as a survival method. At least covering it up shows they are not committed to the ideology.

4 months ago | Likes 309 Dislikes 21

Or they want to be able to appear topless on TV.

4 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Trying to save one's own ass does not excuse siding with people doing/supporting evil things.

I have suffered unimaginable harm in my life, partly because so many people around me chose to side with my abusers to avoid drawing their ire. It takes a hell of a lot more than covering up tattoos and pretending they never sided evil people to make up for the harm they've done.

4 months ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 18

Now imagine you go back to the height of your abuse. I promise you prison can be worse than what you experienced. I know this because you are still alive. Would you have agreed to hang out with some Nazis and get a Nazi tattoo if it meant all of that abuse would stop immediately?

4 months ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 7

I’m sorry to hear you suffered, but please note everyone’s suffering and tolerance to suffering is different. As well as their coping mechanisms and what keeps them safe. If someone told me they were going to rape me if I didn’t get a swastika tattoo, I’d get it. That doesn’t mean I support nazi bullshit, I’ve never understood it in the first place (ffs we’re human race, what, ugh, I’m too autistic for bullshit racism)

4 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 3

We have a saying in the disabled community that is also applicable here: Your diagnosis EXPLAINS your actions, it doesn't excuse them.

That means being in a shitty situation doesn't give a person a free pass to mistreat or abuse others. They still have to own up to their actions and accept responsibility.

4 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 3

People should not be downvoting this one, this *is* in fact a thing said within the disability community. Was one of the most important lessons/self-biases as a non-disabled person I had to learn from family who was disabled.

4 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The right way is to cut it out of your skin.

I wouldn't have thought Minecraft was that popular in prison.

Maybe butt craft

4 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I learned from the Shawshank Redemption that digging tunnels is really popular there

4 months ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Or they are still committed but want to be stealthy. Seriously, a lot of people get natsee tats removed or covered not because their idiologies changed, they just want to be able to infiltrate spaces that hate them .

4 months ago | Likes 58 Dislikes 30

UFC? okeedokee.

4 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 9

Are you suggesting the UFC is the only place this guy exists currently?

4 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Nope.

4 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 5

Then your comment makes no sense in context.

4 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Someone trying to open their world and change their mind is "being stealthy and infiltrating."

4 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

you have to earn certain tattoos. So showing up to prison with certain ones can anger stupid ass gang politics

4 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Those committed to the ideology don’t usually become stealthier over time. It’s the opposite.

4 months ago | Likes 35 Dislikes 5

Why did you spell Nazi that way?

4 months ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

It’s a shame that it’s necessary to intentionally misspell the word in order to avoid the hypersensitivity of current moderation ignorance.

4 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 9

But... it's not. You can say "Nazi" just fine. Don't conflate non-existent Imgur rules for that person's own pointless self-censorship.

4 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Sometimes you can, and sometimes you can’t. It’s all at the whim of the moderator. Which is why people hesitate to just speak their mind. And of course the idiots who say, “farging ice hole”. They all piss me off and make so gosh darn angry……

4 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 3

I assume you know these "a lot of people" personally? Because without a source, this is just talking out of your ass for no reason.

4 months ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 9

Realistically, a lot of people will meander in and out of extreme ideologies because it's largely an emotional relationship, and if they feel hurt or betrayed they just leave for nicer spaces which often means more progressive ones. But they're not performing a secret infiltration. They're slinking in and keeping their heads down for a bit so they don't get kicked out. If you just do actually kick them out when they get dickish it's not a problem.

4 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

No, if they were not committed anymore they would have made it unrecognizable. This is a 100db dog whistle.

4 months ago | Likes 102 Dislikes 39

Do you want them to be a NAZI?

4 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 3

I think he wants them to actually stop instead of pretending to.

4 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Well then he should encourage them to stop. Turn the pretending into actualizing.

4 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You got evidence that is a known signal to other Nazis, or are you jumping to a conclusion based on criteria you've just made up in your head? It's not like people don't look at big black squares and wonder what shitty thing is being covered up. Especially if it's accompanied by a bunch of other shitty prison-stye tats like that.

4 months ago | Likes 45 Dislikes 8

Most likely in this case, they got it done because they wouldn't be able to compete otherwise.

4 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

It's probably based on the fact that any tattoo artist can make a vast number of cover up suggestions that fully obscure the initial design. In fact this design here is probably the best way to do it if you wanted people to know what it was.

4 months ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 3

Covering up thick, straight black lines is actually really hard, and tatoo artists don't work for free. The idea that if you can decode an old hate tattoo than a person is absolutely still in that life is an absurd standard. It takes money to erase a tattoo completely, and even then people fucking remember that shit. The Windows logo cover up is neither a dogwhistle or a mark of a changed man. It just means this dude didn't want a swastika on his chest anymore.

4 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Not that hard, there are much larger tattoo examples of cover ups with equally bold lines. The notion that he has no money for tattoo cover up when he already has many tattoos and and he already paid for a cover up is quite silly. It doesn't mean he doesn't want it, as others already said, as a fighter without a shirt in front of cameras he was probably pressured into it. Someone who has truly a mindset of not wanting this would do anything to hide it better, he didn't even try, hence this post

4 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Once a Nazi, always a Nazi.

4 months ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 46

Agreed. They’re an invasive species choking the forest. Only answer is removing all of them. No exceptions, no forgiveness.

4 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 4

Peoples ideologies, reasoning and thinking can change over time lol.

4 months ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 3

Not sure why you got downvoted. Nazis get no second chances.

4 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

How very unprogressive of you

4 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

This statement displays an incredible ignorance of the human mind in general, and a complete lack of understanding in how nazis come to be in reality. It's like you've decided to wave a flag that says, "look at me, I am proudly ignorant of the world around me!"

4 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

if we can't grow as people then what the hell is the point of life, anyway? Doesn't excuse you from accountability for any harm you may have caused but otherwise people should be able to grow and change.

4 months ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 1

Nazis don’t. Nazis can’t.

4 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 3

Also if you don't give people a way out that isn't death, that just enforces their sunk cost fallacy.

4 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

*does not apply if they didn't know what they were doing/saying is wrong.

I knew a dude that was racist as hell until he was 12 because no one explained to him about empathy and consequences of his actions. We got in depth of the consequences of slavery and he ran to the bathroom crying. It took the teacher all day to calm him down. He eventually moved back in with his dad and went no contact with the mom and her family after he turned 18

4 months ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 6

Equating a child to a racist adult are not equals.

4 months ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 6

What if he was raised around racists and Nazis but realized the ideology was wrong and changed. That was the main point.

4 months ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 2

What if?

4 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

Yes, but conflating a child who only knows what his or her parents know to am adult that has seen and experienced the world and able to form their own opinions are not the same. If you meet a racist in their mid 20s covered in racist tattoos you can be moderately certain they have at least encountered a different viewpoint that could change their mind. And that they chose to continue their hatred.
