Where's that? I want to live there. What are
What are the 2 countireis in the middle of Russia?
What no one knows is, emus have a robust, superior system of government.
Bigfoot really gets around.
Shots fired.
Almost too coincidental.
Gesuntheit.
Greenland, get your shit together!
My firend actually doesn't get this one.
Age 1-10? WTH?
There's like...10 whole colors people!
Turns are for chumps.

#8 I'm Polish and I can confirm this map is ALMOST correct. What I don't like is they omitted Iceland because the joke wouldn't land as good.
SecretAgentSuperBooger
#4 Time for a new map
Kittenman15
#13 - what did New Zealand do?
VTiR
The map is clear, it doesn't exist.
InnerBushman
#10 @op back then neither of those crops existed in Europe. Both come from South America and were brought to Europe after Columbus first sailed to American continents.
somnif
#1 Those terms have a somewhat different meaning in the US...
xtav
I think that might be part of the joke... the map is accurate for both meanings.

#7 I think from a technical standpoint it should be Prostop
Type17
#13 Interesting that Ireland is the only country outside Africa that fits that criterion, and that one of those African countries' flag is the same as the Irish flag, but reversed (Côte d'Ivoire/Ivory Coast).
ButtblasterMcAssmaster
There's another, barely visible: Jamaica, which is in fact the only country in the world not to contain red, blue, or white.

Do pregnancies skew the data?

No need to worry about that, it's only counting men. /s

I saw that first picture, nearly spilled my tea, and checked down here. I was sure this was going to be the top comment by a long shot. This year, the UK was the polar bloody antipode to "wet" by any stretch of the imagination!

#5 don’s the French get all uppity about it too?
Targe0
Not really, because they never expected anyone to do it right in the first place.
They are just uppity by default.

#3 I thought the emus did win
CorgisButtsDriveMeNuts
Why stop at jehova's witnesses? Just ban all the religious bullshit.
Italians get upset about everything, not just food!
Emus were the winners of the war, wtf are they on about?!
bottledham
Look at the countries that ban JWs. Do you really want to live in a country without freedom of conscience?
QuitLookinAtMineAim
Yeah, but freedom FROM JWs should be considered
bottledham
Are they really so bad? They come around my neighborhood once a year and I tell them I'm not interested and to have a nice day. It's not like they've ever hit me or tried to burn my house down or anything...
QuitLookinAtMineAim
I've known people raised and incredibly abused by them. Have you known any? I bet it would change your view.
bottledham
Yeah, I've heard those stories. So probably not a good environment for raising children... I guess when I read "Freedom from JW's" it made me think of them knocking on doors.

#14 I wont go two hours out of my way, but I will absolutely go 5 minutes out of my way to avoid a squiggly route.

TanithRosenbaum
That's inaccurate. In rural Bavaria (whereas "Bavaria" refers to the parts of the state of Bavaria south of the Danbube, eveything north is Frankonia or Upper Palatinate), they will be sad, cold, drunk, and very grumpy. In Munich they'll be sad, cold, slightly less drunk, but a lot more grumpy and constantly grumbling about "Zugreiste" (Immigrants, whereas the term in a Munich context means people from other parts of Bavaria or, god beware, Prussia (every part of Germany outside Bavaria))

#11 why the hell am I just learning there are four verses to the Star Spangled Banner?! Is this a useless fact I knew at some point in the past half-century and forgot?? Does it count as containing "blood" if we never sing past the first verse?
Targe0
Most national anthems are longer than people realise.
Because most of them go on for like 12 minuets if you do every verse. And people are not putting up with that.
WellWellWellLookWhoItIs

I was kind of hoping that śpiączka was Polish for chameleon, but sadly not.
Righteousdew
#13 Jamaica erasure.
Targe0
That's more an issue with scale.
Small island nations like that simple are not large enough to be visible when you get a full view of the world like that.
Same reason why most nations in the pacific vanish. Because they would be smaller than a pixel on some maps.
WhoToldYouLifeWasFair
West Virginia is PLUMB covered up with Bigfoots. Bigfeet? SASQUACHES!

#9 Guess I'm moving to Nicaragua and opening an Irish pub. It's an untapped market! The Nicaraguans need their Guiness and Fish & Chips!
Targe0
I think most of those nations a dry Muslim nations.
So I don't think a Pub is going to have great business there.

#4 I like how this implies that Mexico has some sort of magical barrier that prevents Big Foot from crossing. Kind of like The Wall from ASOIAF.
CrisprCAS
People in Mexico know what a black bear is.
FetaForMoses
Bigfoot payed for it
NZSheeps
Targe0
Oh that one is really time sensitive.
milkcheese
Is it because Vatican city is less than a half square mile in size?
Targe0
Yes, but there's only been two Popes alive at the same time twice in history.
Since most of them don't quite, and dead Popes aren't counted.
SlyeFox
But that would mean during those times, there would be 4 popes per square kilometre.
Targe0
Only if they are within the same area when counted.

stevestevensonthesteve
#5 I know it's going off of entire countries, but people from New York City are also insane about pizza.
Targe0
That's because they imported so many Italians.
stevestevensonthesteve
That's the thing though, even their pizza isn't quite the same as OG Italian pizza, so the way they get buttmad at non-NYC style pizza is just annoying
Targe0
That's because the ingredient in New York were different.
So the migrants had to work it out for themselves.
And then they become just as possessive about those new versions are the traditionalists are.
stevestevensonthesteve
Oh I never doubted that they have a reason. I just think their reason is dumb and they should just chill the fuck out.
Targe0
It's just part of their cultural identity.
It doesn't do any real harm so its fine.

#9 no data from Ireland…

They're too drunk to be able to answer the questionnaire. *hic*
AVerySillyPuppy
You won't find any places advertised as "Irish pubs" in Ireland for the same reason you won't find "Chinese takeout" places in China.
Sironagold
I have bad news for your about Dublin, in Temple Bar, there is in fact not one, but two bars that advertise themselves as such. It used to be the alternative hangout spot in the city, but after 2018, it got gentrified and made into a tourist trap
TeddyBruhsvelt
This is a very accurate map because it shows "irish pubs" which are a complete bastardisation of the holy institution that is the pub. The "irish pub" only exists outside Ireland and is (in my long experience) usually nothing at all like the actual pubs we have in Ireland. The absolute worst ones are the ones that have a name over the door that's (borderline racist) irish sounding but just isn't a real name: like "O'Macauleys"
Viscouse
OMG I missed that! Wait, now I'm confused...
bottledham
Bit of a terrible map ;)
Targe0
Well people tried but no one was home to ask, they were all at the pub.
rustythecyborg
They’re all down the pub.
L0rdinquisit0r
we just have pubs
GreaseMonkeyOfLove
Nobody was brave enough to ask an Irishman if there is a least one Irish pub in Ireland. (The mockery would be lethal).

#3 the emus DID win.

They lost at the negotiating table though so Australia just sorta pretended they won and never changed the maps

If military vehicles could take as much lead and keep going as an emu, they would be the greatest vehicles in military history.
A paraphrased quote from the Great emu war or something like that

#10 "My firend actually doesn't get this one." -> Tell your friend that potatoes and tomatoes did not exist on the european continent and were brought from america (after 1491). So, no european country would favor or plant either of them at that time.
FiftyShadesOfMascarpone
And once we finally had potatoes and tomatoes, all of Europe became tobacco country.
Targe0
And even when they were there, it took like 300 years of them being there before people actually started to eat them more widely.
Because they thought they were poisonous.
Moonthatspellsmoon
Being that both are members of the nightshade family. Along with eggplants, which actually retained the bitter flavor of their poisonous brethren, which is why it's wise to salt and dry eggplants to get rid of said flavor before cooking and consuming them
AchyBreakyArthritickyKnees
ie in 1492 Christopher Columbus sailed the ocean blue … And the ‘Columbian Exchange’ began as the exploratory voyages around the Americas took shiploads of native fruits, veges etc back to Europe.
knotydes
I laughed way harder at that one than I should have.
ExecutiveProducerWolfDyck
It should be "olive europe" and "cabbage europe"
sfrinlan
Did someone say cabbage?
Targe0
Don't forget turnips.
They were Europe's potato before the potato.
igglebotato
My friend now would like to know what happened to Russia

At that time it wasn't seen as part of Europe.
It was part of the Asian step.

#12 Are the Italians moving out or are their parents just dying?
Targe0
Average working age in Italy is around ~45.
They are one of the faster aging demographics on the planet.
As reminder that good demographics have the average age working age somewhere in the 20s. Because that means most of your population is younger. The fact they have it at 45 means most of the population is middle aged or older, which is not good.
randomwalrus
Si.
WhatzitTooya
Somebody has to restore balance. Look at Ireland, they walk out the door as soon as they can.
Bubble181
Neither. No clue what that chart actually refers to, but clearly not at all age of moving out
InnerBushman
Yeah, never heard of any 16yo moving out here in Poland. So that in fact IS a terrible map, but not for the reasons the author thought it is
nichfra
It's something called a joke. You can tell by the age in all of eastern Europe being under 10 years old.
allergictocantaloupe
#2 That's 3 countries. Mongolia, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgzstan.
Viscouse
Thank you!
allergictocantaloupe
I used this neat trick that I like to call, "Looking At A Map".
