It has been one year since I had my heart attack. Chest pain and pain going from my left arm to my lower left jaw. I felt pain in my teeth.
Turns out I had coronary heart disease. Had to have coronary angioplasty and had a stent put in through my left wrist. Spent about week in the hospital.
Been doing better, eating healthier, and trying to exercise more. But I often look at the scar at my wrist and think of what might have happened.

How many chuck burgers a week did that?

.. since you looked at me - cocked your head to the side and said "I'm angry"

Glad you're still here with us. Make the most of your second chance!

I recognized that scar the moment I saw it! It's like being part of a club. My 1-year mark is coming in May. It's certainly something.

One of us @op, I died 5 years ago. Feeling better now:)

That's fascinating they used your wrist. In emergencies most doctors I work with go straight through the groin. Radial access also has some difficulty engaging with certain arteries, hence why they don't usually do it in emergencies. My one physician did tell me they do that in some other places though so it's near to see. Glad you made it through!

I run 1.5 miles daily. Started to see a marked decrease in running ability. First I could run the full distance and by the end of a few years I could barely run 3 house lengths. Scheduled a cardiologist appointment and told him I needed a stent. Worked in stent R&D and manufacturing so had some idea of what was going on. Had 70% blockage of LAD and got a stent. No scar on wrist. Amazing technology. Don’t ignore early warning signs.

I would love to talk to you about your work in stent R&D. That sounds very interesting and I would like to work in that field

The medical device manufacturing is always looking for technical people. Look around your area for medical device companies. Startups are great if risky as they tend to fail but the learning opportunities are incredible. Apply and once you get in you develop a skill set that is desirable in all of the medical device industry. To me, R&D and process development were the most interesting in my entire career spanning 30 years.

13 months for me. Heart cath too. Then open heart. Recovery, 6 months. Good on you! Keep it going @op

Yikes, I've done two four-day stints in the hospital, and it was honestly just horrible. I get anxious just thinking about ever having to do that again. Not sure I could've made it a week. Good on you, OP.

I recognize the emotions, the questions. Keep on going, listening to your body, eating healthy, exercising. The trust in your body will return slowly.

Thanks for mentioning this, i have had those pain every now and then. I should probably ask my doctor to have a looksies just in case.
UndrwearMustache
I have these pains all the time. Had 10 ER visists in 2022. My chronic illnesses mimic heart attack symptoms. It's important to have your dr take a looksies. I've had a full work up an don't have heart trouble but I'm still suppose to go in if all my symptoms hit at one time just in case.

In 2012 I was 38. Got two stents and still on medication (FH). As new since then. Except the usual old age pains...
