Gorgeous pup, looks like you are going to be ok. Dear humans, I get that times are tough, but find an animal shelter if you can, or place the dog/cat with someone you can trust. Abandonment is NOT the answer.
What is wrong w people?! There are Humane Societies, rescues, shelters..... Plus you just broke your poor pet's heart! You sb charged, fined, jailed & prohibited from ever having any pet again. So cruel.
peopel that does this should be marked as not allowed to have pets or adopt kids or in anyshape or form works with authority over them. They are clearly not fit to take care of a living creature
I question the validity of this video.. but it does remind me that there's been multiple bills this year (usa) that have been written to make a registry of animal abusers- and I thiiiink one state passed it so far?
I'm impressed the dog stayed with the pillow; most would have wandered off to chase squirrels, or something. Additionally, I would expect it to approach humans. I suspect this is staged.
Some people might get deep into money/mental health/other problems, so deep they can't afford taking care of a pet anymore. And I can imagine that it's heartbreaking for them. I can "understand" that it can happen, although it's sad some don't take their pets to a safe place (maybe out of shame). Some other people are just assholes that see pets as objects. Fuck those! They deserve hell.
I've said this the last time and I'll say it again. An abandoned dog would not have a bed. They just stole a homeless person's dog. A dog trained well enough to wait for his master to come home.
But we also don't know how long they were there alone. Something could have happened to the homeless person. Or maybe they just lost their dog. Sad either way.
i love rescue content and i applaud them - therefor im very skeptical of this one, it seems stage - health is good, groomed (length of hair) and not reacting to the food or people approaching (previous knowledge of the people). I can be totally wrong, but a longer source video of how it was scouted out, approached, and gained trust is missing here.
I agree. This video just seems off. The tarp looks freshly laid and not trampled or muddy, the garbage is all within a few feet of the tree, the water bowl looks full and clean. Good for people who rescue animals, but more context for this video is needed...
Yeah, that dog was already sleeping on his back, that shows insane trust, not something a dog gives lightly to new faces. I could be wrong. I hope I am, but I have a hard time trusting these types of videos.
100% my first thought. And maybe they were coming back and will now be sad, or maybe something happened to they're person and this saved them. Not enough info.
I get people are ashamed they suck at being a pet parent. But like. Suck it the fuck up and take them to an spca or shelter. Thats the BARE MINIMUM you owe them
If you take on a responsibility, and then find you are unable to be responsible, at least [in this case] take the animal to a shelter. Don't leave them to starve to death.
I lived next to an abandoned quarry. So many animals showed up there. Then the entrance was blocked up. I wonder where the animals are being dumped now and if it's near people who can take them in or rehome them.
A lot of the time they're all full. Not excusing it, but it's genuinely not always an option. Trying to rehome dogs a couple decades ago in the US and at one point I called *sixty* shelters and rescues in the state and every SINGLE one was overfull.
The big issue is people who do not spay/neuter their pets; it's what leads to the enormous overpopulation of pets with nowhere to go :(
So is abandoning them on the side. Good job having cameras.
I know you're trying to make a point. But its a capitalist cock sucker point. So unless you have solutions. Kindly fuck off. I don't care. I don't want to hear it. You're not helping anyone.
We only get rescue cats for our happy home. The vast majority of them seem to have been ditched on the side of the road. They absolutely remember, because they tend to shit their carrier in fear any time we take them to the vet, then seem excitedly happy to be brought back again to their happy home.
I recently adopted a cat that the humane society said was a stray. But he is far too friendly and house broken. I think he either got lost or thrown outside and abandoned. But he's got the battle scars of being on the street for a while.
It always makes me happy cry when they realize this is a good home and they're safe. It's like a switch in their head just flipped and they get excited.
That's so horrific. My pups are my family. I'll starve before I let them suffer and I couldn't abandon them like that. I know people get desperate, but how do you hurt your own family like that?
I feel the same way about my pets, I can't understand how someone could do this, rather than making a phone call if you couldn't cope with them, or house them. The person who got them out was a hero though, so grateful for her.
? I understand the skepticism, but you think the people excessively pampering that dog first left it outside for a week to get it dirty and covered in fleas? Unless you have proof, I'm going to take this one as genuine. Since she works with a rescue, it's quite possible somebody else called them in, explaining them having a camera at the ready.
Nah, that bed is pristine clean. Also it's sitting on a tarp to ensure it doesn't get dirty. There is some strategically planted trash that isn't aged. The dog has been groomed and fed. If it was starving it would have eaten. Adding a light layer of dirt to the dogs coat completes the illusion. All signs point to complete fabrication.
Does she though? I see no identification here, it's just some woman bathing a dog in a private bathtub? It does look sus to me, quite a lot, with the dog not moving from that spot and the leggings, camera focus etc. Looks like it's set up for social media views

That they left a blanket, bed and water suggests they belong to the former category.
Sebastopol140
Yeah I think so.
CaptainWeirdoMcBeardo
The funds currently being used for AI should be put to taking care of dumped pets. And hire groups of meth addicts to beat up their previous "owners".
RestlessVagabond
There's probably an unfortunate amount of overlap between the former owners and the meth addicts.
CaptainWeirdoMcBeardo
Well, there needs to be a serious vetting process.
KeyLimePi314
Friendly reminder that a lot of these "rescue" vids are staged for views

clearly the dog was not getting the best care, but still when you down and all you got is your dog. it being gone would be heartbreaking.

Especially if the homeless person doesn't know what happened to the dog.

Helping the VOICELESS VICTIM is what's important here. And collars w i.d/contact info. And/or a microchip cuz police & vets can scanessily them.

Poor baby. I can never understand why anyone would do this

finances, no pets in rentals, sick or diseased, or generally just bad individuals that never should have had the pet in the 1st place

How did the fleas get on him tho ?
AllRepublicansArePedophiles
Because there's no consequences for doing it. If only we punished bad people for doing bad things.
clonedeeznuts
Yeah if anything it's being encouraged due to the lack of consequences

Many shelters will charge you unless you've found the animal and then they make you swear you're not just dumping your own. It sucks but 🤷♀️

Good luck charging me for putting it down and walking out

They might be hoping the animal has a better chance being found by someone there than going to a shelter, considering some have high kill rates.

That's a socially intelligent cat right there.

Dude, my hubby worked in the parks after the '08 recession and so many animals abandoned there asking to find them a good home. It was heartbreaking.

And, how many of them were dead before being found?
BabeAfett
That he didn't share with me too often, but I'm sure he saw a lot of that as well.

Adding that the dog's fur is groomed already (it'd be thick/matted otherwise) and the tarp, pillow etc. are still clean??
