I hate political posts that are screenshots of Twitter posts or articles with no links to the actual article/tweet/or basic source material. And too many of them are bs/hoaxes. Link to your source **** god dammit. And stop posting your own tweets, that's the equivalent of posting selfies.

6 days ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 2

I am not even from your country. I blocked every single political keyword I can on this site and the front page is full of propaganda.

5 days ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 3

Blame the idiots/bots who keep upvoting the shit

6 days ago | Likes 40 Dislikes 10

Hurting people is bad. Helping people is good. Tell your friends.

6 days ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

And so many comments just saying shit like "buuurn them!" Not that this shit shouldn't be taken seriously, cause it absolutely needs to, but like are you just sitting there, trying to whip yourself up into a murderious rage? You can't kill a president in a murderous rage. You need to plan shit.

6 days ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

Now this is a message I want to promote more.

6 days ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 6

I've blocked hundreds of them. Miserable people.

6 days ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 5

Same. Any US politics or "ACAB" crap gets blocked. I don't give a fuck about the bullshit going on in that shitty country, I'm just here to look at funny pictures.

4 days ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I have taken to blocking every account that posts Donald Trumps face. Has really turned Imgur from Donny J's biggest fanpage to something that's actually usable.

6 days ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 2

yoU cANt HiDe fROm thE TRuTh!!!

6 days ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 4

Same. If someone's post history has political stuff littered around, that's an insta block for me. But there are STILL so many I encounter. 🥲 I wish people would just tag their shit.

6 days ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 4

You remember you're on Imgur, right? Standard operating procedure. Nothing new here. It would be nice if we could get rid of the bots so the up/down vote system actually worked. It'd also be nice if I hit the lottery :-P

6 days ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 8

Serious question: do you think it's bots juicing the numbers, or just that people, in general, are far more predictable and awful then we'd like to admit?

It's kind of like the phenomenon of "meth mouth"; they originally thought there was something in crystal meth that destroyed people's teeth, but upon investigation, it turned out that meth users simply didn't brush.

Sometimes the correct answer is the simpler one, with all that entails

6 days ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

It's hard to tell exactly how many bots there are. I'm confident that I've witnessed some bot behavior. Certain types of posts will very rapidly collect a string of down votes almost immediately after posting, then swing strong positive with in the hour. Maybe that's not 100% proof, but it really looks like bot behavior to me. However, are there enough bots to really swing the community response? I'm honestly not sure. We would definitely be better off without them, but how much better?

5 days ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

My least favorite posts are the ones that copy the clickbait titles like "this latest piece of evidence destroys Trump" and it's just how some minor court blocked some addendum to some request that his lawyer can appeal. It's ubiquitous and annoying to see on this site.

6 days ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 2

comments on posts are starting to get to me too "cry harder libtard", "lol typical Trumper" but they aren't even on posts meant to be political, it'll be something about what they had for dinner last night.

5 days ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

5 days ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Oh, yeah, Democrat on Democrat violence. That always works.

6 days ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 2

Or shilling for “news” sites that just add ragebait captions to other sites clips

6 days ago | Likes 61 Dislikes 5

To me, it doesn't matter where on the political spectrum you are. If you're politely asked to tag your political brain-rot & instead of just correctly taking an 8th of a second to DO IT you start spewing typical low EQ dogshit phrases like "stick your head in the sand" or "imgur isn't here to cater to your needs" or "just skip it & move on!", etc.. you just might be a discourteous & uncivil dickhead masquerading as someone "righteously raising political awareness". Folks, TAG YOUR POSTS.

6 days ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

And "news" from eight or ten years ago.

6 days ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

But always with the date of the post cropped out

6 days ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

You'll accept your OccupyDemocrats-tier slop and you'll like it.

6 days ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

I’m still trying to find the 👍 they keep asking me to hit.

6 days ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Ive blocked so many accounts that post politics endlessly that imgur for me is almost a ghost town. These accounts aren't doing anything but point farming, imgur isn't going to change the country ffs. Ive considered unblocking everyone after the orange stain is dead

6 days ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 7

99% of them are only shouting some simple declaration from the rooftops. It's not intentional rage-bait, but it usually results in a "no shit sherlock" situation where i can't help but think OP is an idiot for wasting their time posting about something enraging without adding anything productive to the "discussion".

5 days ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

"Trump bad" "conservatives stupid lol" "meltdown" It's all the same circlejerk shit that doesn't actually inform of anything or do anything productive except get echo-chamber stans to click. They're lame and i'm sick of it.

6 days ago | Likes 79 Dislikes 18

Uh oh, here come the downvotes.

6 days ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 14

Shhh, you're disturbing the echo chamber!

6 days ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 5

the best is when it's "Trump bad (just ignore the Dem complicity in this action)" that really gives away that it's just lowest common denominator farming rather than attempting to address anything factual or improve things (such as by acknowledging that ICE has been this evil its entire existence and all Trump has done is make it impossible for liberals to ignore that fact, and that ICE needs to be abolished and US immigration laws are all racist)

6 days ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 17

You are correct and for that they will downvote you.

6 days ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 5

I'm used to liberals getting butthurt by leftist criticism lol

6 days ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 5

It's especially funny as a non-american, cause I don't have the rose-tinted glasses of seeing any US politics of the last 3 decades in an overall positive light. Yeah, I fully believe that having Obama in office was better for you as an individual and yes, it was also better for the world at large, but that doesn't make all the brown kids he drone striked any less dead. But people just wanna be outraged about the current shitshow, not be aware of systemic problems that existed all along.

5 days ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Dude there's nothing that pisses of liberals more than undermining their "Obama was a perfect angel and a real president" bullshit by pointing out he slaughtered trans kids wholesale for the crime of being born with a penis and got away with it.

5 days ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Oof. This take right here. It's hard to look beyond party politics and demand better in the US, because you can't have nice things and there's always another right wing baddie.

But any potential contender in the blue primaries gets the treatment we've seen this election cycle. Absurd money, smear campaigns that are easily racist if need be, and all kinds of underhanded shit.

All so the US can remain as right wing as possible. Dems are complicit, and the party needs to change.

6 days ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

establishment democrats are collaborators with fascism, nothing but purging their numbers from the democratic party will change the course of the nation. putting progressives in office, especially ones the dems hate, is the only way to force change through elections

Which president was that? Because it sure as fuck wasn't FDR, noted defender and enforcer of Jim fucking Crow. Yknow, the guy who wanted the GI bill to be means tested? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Franklin_D._Roosevelt_and_civil_rights People forget how much the New Deal was shaped by people other than FDR, and how much FDR's continued reign was a result of WW2

1. OMG Trump said or did something awful!!
2. The media isn't reporting it! or Read this before imgur censors it!
3. It might be exaggerated, but wake up sheeple!
4. Nazis bots are downvoting all my posts

6 days ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 7

Uhuh. This is starting to sound less like legit criticism of lazy posts and more like lazy both-sides-ism. A lot of it ISN'T exaggerated.

6 days ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 6

*some* political posts on here exaggerate and border on outright misinformation, and it's increasing in frequency.

5 days ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 2

I've been just blocking them all.I am on imgur to chill, not for ragebait

6 days ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

I have a better idea. Stop posting political content here. There's enough places where you can doom scroll if that's what you enjoy doing.

6 days ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 5

But how else am I meant to farm points/karma and reinforce my personal beliefs if I don't post things on circle-jerk social media?

4 days ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Step one: follow someone on Twitter who posts nothing but rage bait. Step two: learn to use screenshot and clip. Step three: never stop spamming to imgur. Unlimited fountain of points.

6 days ago | Likes 79 Dislikes 13

that's the beauty of points that don't matter for anything, nobody actually does that, you're just addicted to rage, and it's kinda pathetic

6 days ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 9

I swear these accounts are bots and more bots upvote them.

6 days ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Step one: be PR firm paying people to produce rage bait with a clear political agenda. Step two: have them post it to social media under a myriad accounts. Step three: employ bots to repost it on secondary social media such as Imgur. Step four: ??? Step five: Profit!

6 days ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 3

I just love your name and wanted to share that

6 days ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

But do you have an answer or guess as to how many?

5 days ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ive been trying to think of a good pun for an hour and all I got was "A Gaper's Dozen". I need help.

5 days ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My shorthand answer

6 days ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

But why?!?

6 days ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

With a place that has be come so... let's say 'narrowly focused' as imgur it kinda comes down to two things. Primarily the creation and sustaining of an echo chamber where people with fringe views can feel secure. Second some people just like to get all raged out and want to spread it around. Basically the same as the echo chamber. Third, I don't know how likely it is but it's at least non-zero they're getting paid to be 'influencers'.

6 days ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

In at least some cases, PR firms paid to influence opinion.

6 days ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Unlimited fountain of points

6 days ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Extra points if you save a screenshot of a reply you or someone else made to the rage bait Twitter post like it's this big gotcha

6 days ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Ragebaittweetception: spam your own twitter feed as screenshots to imgur, make the replies all comment screenshots!

6 days ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Glad to see the general feelings on Sleeprkid have shifted

5 days ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

dude's still paying for twitter for his checkmark. he can get fucked. i had to block him to hide all his posts

5 days ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The posts that are starting to bug me are the ones about some person who commited some heinous crime that the post wants you to be mad about, but with no supporting details, names, or links. And then when you search for the case using the details given you found out it happened like 14 years ago and the person's been in prison ever since. Like fuck off with the lazy outdated ragebait, there are things happening now we should be focusing on.

6 days ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Tons of support here, but God forbid you ask for tags under a political post so people can curate their own feed. Downvotes galore!

6 days ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 5

I notice the spambots cruiseforlife was posting general empty headed boomer shit, then switched to politics posts.

6 days ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

your brain is lazy

6 days ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 3

If I had a dollar for every post that was a screencap of a witty Twitter reply to an account that will never read it. Just blowing hot air into the wind, like it'll actually do anything.

6 days ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 4

You'll most likely shit yourself when you die

6 days ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

Same as every other day so.

6 days ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Or give birth, if you're the type to do that sort of thing.

6 days ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

ah yes, the guy who keeps posting screenshots of his posts on the nazi social website and gets hundreds of upvotes because it's critical of Trump

6 days ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 4

Not only that, if you're talking about who I think you're talking about, he pays money to the nazi social website for a "verified account" badge. And still gets little to no engagement on his posts there.

6 days ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

The shame is that a lot of the source tweets he posts are interesting/pertinent news. There's no reason to make his comment tweet the main part of the post, its purely ego/spam.

6 days ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

Most of what I upload is elephants. I even source those images. Just good manners, in my view.

6 days ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 7

Wtf is this downvoted?

6 days ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

It happens at times. Perhaps some bots. Not worth worrying about on my behalf.

6 days ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

It’s just so random, even if it’s bots. Baffling

6 days ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Yeah. Can see very random, non-descript responses downvoted. Would be curious to know for sure what's up, but at least it's not all too serious stuff.

6 days ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Elephants and ice hockey, what's not to love?

6 days ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I quite love both, yes. The former probably a more universally enjoyed topic.

6 days ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Particularly when they are just a screenshot with no additional information or links... one asshole recently got angry at someone who ask for more information, calling them lazy and entitled because it's not their job to waste their time doing such things. Lol... "lazy and entitled" for asking for a link.

6 days ago | Likes 215 Dislikes 10

Literally "Do your own research" mentality, as if political shit posting is making a difference somehow.

6 days ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

And when you rightfully call 'em out using "@OP", they act all high and mighty.

6 days ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

So they were a Republican? That is very on brand for them.

6 days ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 3

Imgur, as a community, needs to start down voting political posts without dates and sources. PUSH for this change as hard as we push anti-AI.

6 days ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 0

Let’s start blocking!

6 days ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Please!

6 days ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I've been downvoted so many times just because I asked for a source for some of the crazier sounding claims.

6 days ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

Yes, sealioning IS lazy and entitled, what a stupid take.

6 days ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 15

I don’t even know what that is! lol

6 days ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

google it, I'm not your keeper.

6 days ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 4

lol. But you presume to tell me what and how to post. You must be lacking something.

6 days ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Yes, I presume to tell you not to be a whiny dipshit online, I should have known my efforts would be fruitless as you enjoy it so much.

5 days ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

Asking for a source isn't sealioning

6 days ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

if that's all you say, yeah, it's the perfect example of sealioning. It's becoming more popular because rightwing bots do it all the time and you simpletons copy it because your minds are almost as weak as your googlefu.

6 days ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 5

I think it's lazy and entitled to post shit without corroborating it and expecting other people to do it for you

6 days ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

Listen, I need you to understand this, it doesn't matter how much evidence I show you, look it up yourself, I can conclusion shop whatever the hell I want, and not looking further is how you get flerfs.

5 days ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

Also , right wing bots LOVE getting obstinate and indignant at the suggestion that you corroborate your unsubstantiated bullshit

Which you seem to be doing for some reason

6 days ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

If i screenshot news, I try to post the link with my post.

6 days ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 2

Good soldier.

6 days ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Do you also tag it “politics” if the news is related to that?

6 days ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

This is the way...

6 days ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

I keep saying it - this site has just become leftie facebook. The amount of low effort political posting (some very well being bot accounts) is gross. This wasn't a thing 11+ years ago. Imgur has changed into something lesser.

6 days ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 2

Yea it was lol

6 days ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

IDK what you're smoking but we had Obama/Biden memes back then. Not constant political outrage.

4 days ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

11+ years is a LOOOONG time in internet time. Also, we need our safe spaces against fascists. Nothing wrong with that. However, Imgur is not a community service, it was bought up and now they're trying to press every little bit of money out of it until they throw it away.

6 days ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

I literally have a comment from today, asking for context, in the minus nrs. Because apparently it's my fault that Spiderman showing up at a protest didn't make international news.

6 days ago | Likes 61 Dislikes 2

I have a reply pointing out how why maga is destroying the country is because democrats don’t have nuance. If you fuck up one time no matter what it is your throats cut and you’re in the ditch.

6 days ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

And got got downvoted to hell

6 days ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

How dare you question the narrative! You're supposed to upvote and move on!

6 days ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 1

I'll give you the Spider-man thing only because mainstream media is totally ignoring it and it's mainly the fascist owned social media sites where the incident is being mentioned and even I won't link to that shit. But... two pages in I found this... https://www.yahoo.com/news/us/articles/everything-happened-spider-man-mace-000631829.html ...it's not always easy, but at least give a tiny bit of context if you wish to inform or else it comes across as a "if you know, you know" reference.

6 days ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 2

I saw the story on mainstream media.

6 days ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 3

Which network?

6 days ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I’m wrong. I saw it on YouTube and thought it was reported by mainstream media.

6 days ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Ran into a Spider-Man post with AI in one of the images and nobody really seems to care.

6 days ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

link it here and I'll add my downvote

6 days ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

More people have commented on it since I said this but it's the third image. /gallery/N6MSNQz

6 days ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

No one got angry. They explained that they use Apple News and any link would only work for Apple News users. Then the Imgur gatekeeper said it would only take 12 seconds to do a google search and the OP explained that if it only takes 12 seconds then they could easily look it up. You think the OP should read a story on Apple News then find another story on another website and then copy and paste the story from another source? I will continue to use Imgur the way I use it. Thanks

6 days ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 20

And since they are the only Apple News user in the world, this is a serious limitation rather than a flimsey excuse. Always post your source, even if it's behind a paywall, because at the very least people with access can vouch for it so it's not just your word. Ideally someone will find a way around it or a non-paywalled option to share. It's also ok to admit if you don't have one or if the source is bad. That shoes you care about not misleading people, even if your info is sketchy.

6 days ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I think people would rather complain.

6 days ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 3

Yes

6 days ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Bro I go through the trouble of finding and providing sources to every piece of art and music I post but a political poster wanting to influence opinion can't be bothered? That's not a downvote, that's a block from me.

6 days ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Awesome!

6 days ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 3

That's exactly what they should do. Because if you're going to share news, you have a responsibility to back your shit up. There's too much fake news now to trust anything without a source. If you can't link your article, just don't post it.

6 days ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

I’m sorry that you don’t trust Apple News. I don’t see a lot of fake news on Imgur and when I do it gets downvoted to hell. If I post the link to Apple News people complain. People should really use logic and critical thinking skills rather than complaining. I’m going to continue to use Imgur the way I want. I don’t care about fake internet points.

6 days ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 5

Sharing is caring, right? Caring enough to find a more universally usable link when the OP knows the story better to find said link sure sounds like the good stuff. If we care enough to share we ought to care enough to care. But, hey, clout posting is its own line of work and I can respect the hustle (kind of).

6 days ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

It takes 12 seconds.

6 days ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Ok, think of it this way. If it only takes 12 seconds of googling, wouldn't it make sense for the OP to do that and save hundreds/thousand of people that 12 seconds? Especially if its a story that they think everyone should read?

6 days ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Part of taking in our news responsibly is looking at more than one source in the first place, so they should already HAVE a more accessible source ready. If something's only being reported in one place, it's not yet ready to be disseminated as fact unless the outlet reporting the story has sources that can be checked and verified by the reader. Managing our news intake is an unreasonably big job, these days, but we have to do it if we're going to be passing around what we've learned.

6 days ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Please tell me what isn’t factual?

6 days ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 3

I'm not accusing you or anyone else of providing stories that aren't factual. What I'm saying, though, is that if you only have one source to share, that information becomes questionable. Having more than one source on tap is a big part of verifying your information. If you disseminate an unverified story whose only available link isn't available to everyone, it's not unreasonable for people in the comment section to ask followup questions or request a different source.

6 days ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I’ve already covered that. I’m going to continue to use Imgur the way I want to and I would never presume to tell anyone else how or what to post. People will always complain.

6 days ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2
