30,000 American's die from pressure sores each year. Not sure this would be a good idea without extreme caution.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Pressure sores?

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Fancy name for lazy assing around in bed to an extreme and losing skin from friction and blood vessel blocking to death.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 3

Oh dang! Makes me wanna get even more active now x.x

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Common for those in wheelchairs as they can't easily be active on certain areas of their body. And friction from movement does not help.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yeah. When you are quad or paraplegic not moving your legs and ass is lazy.

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Maybe I'm wrong, but I think it's more common for people to die from it because the sores become infected which can lead to sepsis.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I worked in the mobility industry for 15 years. The real world applications of these types of things is very limited.

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I have seen stuff since the 80s for various chairs which can stand up to normal height, climb stairs etc. Never seen one IRL

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yes, there is a chair to match each assessed client. The issue with ATV chairs is terrain is too variable. So often it is 1/2...

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

2/2 ...easier to just cut the tracks for normal chairs and adapt a tractor, eg for a farmer

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

By " cut the tracks " I mean improve the path from the farmers house to the equipment and tractor sheds. From there, normal farm work

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It’s like a 4 wheeler but much more expensive and with limited uses!

7 years ago | Likes 149 Dislikes 10

If people live outside of big cities, this thing might be much more helpful, than you think.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I work with a lot of folks in wheelchairs who can't use 4 wheelers. I wish they would make an affordable & safe option for those individuals

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

It's like a CAT without the bucket and a safety enclosure!

7 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

I think you're referring to a skid steer/skid loader. CAT is a company that does make those but they also have many other vehicles.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

One use is making people who are stuck in wheelchairs feel better you mediocre cover band of a human.

7 years ago | Likes 89 Dislikes 32

yeah, it has recreational uses, but I'm struggling to see it being much use as a practical workhorse

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

But... People in wheelchairs can use 4-wheelers...

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

But shouldn't people in wheelchairs be able to drive four wheelers? The legs do nothing and you use the thumb to accelerate.

7 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Depents on where paralysis starts? If they can't hold themselves up and are strapped into the wheelchair chest harness style they wouldn't -

7 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 2

Be able to stay up with just their legs strapped to a 4wheeler. They need the chair back for support.

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

Ohh okay. So basically they would need a modified four wheeler with good support for their back (?)

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You say that like people in wheelchairs can't buckle into an ATV.

7 years ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 2

Paraplegic here, I can almost certainly get onto my motorcycle (sidecar) and dune buggy easier that this. Still, I'd try this at least once.

7 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

They know, that's how they got to be in a wheel chair to begin with, in many cases.

They can't bring the ATV into the Walmart.

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

It would be kinda terrifying to turn a corner and see that thing blocking the isle, revving the engine, then charging right at me.
