Rudy was attacking Mamdani with some 9/11 racism recently. This is the biggest clapback of all time. I assume Rudy’s going to spend the rest of his life being dragged through courtrooms and depositions now.
This is awesome. I remember watching on TV live in the days after and thinking, “Breathing all that stuff has to be bad news. Those people will get sick later.” I know I’m not the only one who was thinking that.
Everyone suspected this, but they kept telling us it was safe. We lost a lot of first responders who worked there for months. Same hoes for volunteers like actor Kevin Conroy, who died of cancer possibly associated with his volunteer work at the center of recovery efforts.
Oh is that what it's gonna take? Imo Americans should've been rampaging 50 years ago (don't worry I'm guilty as well). We should be rampaging right this fucking minute in fact. Billionaires are sociopath parasites & should. not. exist. But they DO exist, so society has to somehow make it so that the DON'T exist, even if it means handing out Kirkaversaries like candy.
As a veteran I couldnt agree more. While I appreciate the opportunities afforded to me due to my time served, ive never really come to terms with the effective use and abuse of being govt property and all of its after effects.
New Jerseyan here. I’ve been incensed that some ambulance chasers have been inundating ads in the local market here regarding 9/11. So, I looked it up. They’re still scum in my eyes, but the reality is there. Many people today have the same cancers first responders died from. John Stewart championed this, and still is. Many thanks to all of them.
And it wasn’t just the two towers. I think close to a four block radius was destroyed or damaged. Office buildings, residential buildings, Mom and Pops, you name it. The fallout was insane.
Even hazardous materials can be made safe until this happens. All the damages buildings had proper asbestos abatement work done. The asbestos was safe as long as that work was all left in place. Which obviously it was not.
Also look at the fucking humility of him. He's not standing tall, looking to catch the eye of the cameras for fame. He's bowing his fucking head out of respect.
Yeah this issue blows my mind cuz like it's not that many people and it should be a political slam dunk, but there's been so much in the way of taking care of these people https://youtu.be/_uYpDC3SRpM
I personally want him as far away from the political end of the process. He's much better with the ability to be truthful and transparent and accepting any role, even a Cabinet position, I think will quickly sour him. If he or Stephen Colbert had any aspirations for office they'd have looked into it by now.
Here's the problem with Jon as press secretary. The press secretary understandably can't answer every question fully and needs to know when it's right to not divulge all information. Stewart is a champion of making sure everything sees the light of day. He's exactly where he should be, shining the light everywhere he can

I didn’t know Kevin Conroy did that. He truly is the greatest Batman.

Sleater-Kinney said it in 2002. "Don't breathe the air today, Don't speak of why you're afraid" - Far Away

Y'all, I'm actually scared for him.

If Mamdani dies, we rampage.

FACT
Ricdesan
this was all common sense on the day the towers fell.
TheVillageGrouch9000
Agreed.

Hatred blinds common sense

Hard disagree. Ignorance and bigotry does.
AssholesfullofelbowsTHE3RD
Rich and powerful men have no qualms sending average Americans to their deaths to clean up the messes they have made. Simple math really

Because they believe, correctly, that we've forgotten that there's only 1 war.

That’s because we’re not people to them, merely assets to use and discard at will.

Hello New Jersey!! - waving from away across Hudson River..

Both towers were chock full of lead paint and asbestos insulation I’m guessing?

And even if they weren't, a lot of materials are totally safe, until they're pulverized into dust and inhaled for hours or days
Frodyne
Exactly.
Flour is nice and healthy, we use it to bake bread, it has been a stable food for generations, it is as natural and healthy as any food out there.
But if you breathe it in, then it will fuck up your lungs: https://www.lung.org/blog/bakers-lung-asthma

Jon Stewart there. He's done and is doing more for 9/11 victims than any president ever did.

That video of Jon Stewart talking about 9/11 victims breaks me up every time. He's a genuinely good guy and passionate at that
BananaForScaIe
Yeah, humble as fuck. I respect the hell out of him, though I don't know him personally or know anyone who does.
FourScoreAndSevenBeersAgo
I want him as the press secretary
judyblue
I want him as head of the DNC. Transparency, tenacity, low tolerance for bullshit. We need his kind of fight to force the party to change.

A good president should _want_ to be skewered by Jon when they don't do the right thing.
ZeldaShotFirst
Pretty sure they meant president, but he absolutely does not want that
Arbitrarynamehere
I hope y'all realize Jon Stewart is a lot closer to the democratic establishment than someone like Mamdani or AOC.
HelloMyNamesInigoMontoya
Which is exactly why he's the right man for the job
