I saw one in an gigantic aquarium in Osaka. I honestly had tears in my eyes cause I had never scene anything living this big before. Truly breath taking beginning of Jurassic Park kinda moment, but I would shit myself if they would swim next to me. And I know they don't attack humans ever, but if you seem them, thats not the cognitive part of you brain in control right now.
Aw, I dont have a stupid amount of money. Though, tbf, I'm more likely to magically become rich than I am to pass Americas borders in the next 5 years so, you know, moot point really
whale sharks are gentle giants and totally uninterested in you, this is probably one of the spots in the Philippines where they feed the whale sharks and move boatloads of snorkelers around in a semicircle to let you swim near them, but you are not supposed to touch them or interfere with their feeding
Not actually whales or sharks. They are part squid and part nudibranch. This fact brought to you by "I haven't had breakfast yet and it's the afternoon".
Oh, he’ll feel that! I was accidentally bumped by one on its way up to feed as I tried to backpedal out of its way (I was watching the one in front of me, when I felt the water pushing only to turn to see the 2nd coming up) and ended up with a bleeding raspberry on my knee!
Yup. IIRC, certain coastal tribes used sharkskin to wrap grips around various tools to prevent slippage during use. It was also used to 'sand' materials smooth for woodworking and the like.
"Shark skin feels like sandpaper due to tiny, tooth-like structures called placoid scales or dermal denticles, which are made of the same material as human and stingray teeth."

If great whites get the 'Dun-nuh' music, what music would the whale shark get?

It's certainly not like that shark can turn on a dime.

No flippers, not in deep ocean, that’s probably the Atlanta Aquarium.
QueenOfTheFey
You can swim in the Atlanta Aquarium?!
Delathi
I think there are programs or passes that may let you for a stupid amount of money.

Could you imagine how beautiful and terrifying a nudibranch that big would be?
Snooj
OMG yes. We need huge unfathomable ocean blobs.
MouseCheese1
"Move b!tch, get out of my way!" - Whaleshark, probably.

Gotta love the somewhat panicked flailing with the feet. I would do exactly the same in that situation
PrincessWasabi
He was calmer than I would have been, I would have inhaled seawater for sure haha
CorvidPrime
I would too, despite knowing that it’s an entirely harmless creature. Still huge and unexpected in a place where I am not the apex predator.
SlightChungus
Swimming in the vast emptiness and something big and fleshy bumps into me. There would have been exponentially more flailing from me.
