I don't feel sorry for her because she has made incredibly poor moral choices since. But just as an observation, she is an excellent example of a "golden child" when it comes to abuse victims. She is separated from her siblings as better, the one used to compare. But she was also isolated and exploited with no one to protect her. They probably resented the attention he spent on her. She didn't escape abuse, she learned to endure it to get rewards that came with it.

I mean, let's be real here, as someone who was once a teen girl, the general public does not give three fucks if adult men have sex with you. They blame you for it, they blame your parents. But they certainly don't blame the rapist. In fact, they totally understand how he, an adult, just couldn't resist a teenager "seducing him". Precisely this. I teach sex ed to high schoolers. When I'm in a room with an 18-year-old, that's a child. Kids get crushes, it's your responsibility as an adult to ethically turn them down and explain to them why people your age are inappropriate for them.

Used to work in the childcare space and it happened, it was our responsibility to A) as kindly as we could say that wasn’t going to happen and B) Teach them that, in future, anyone who took them up on such a proposition or tried saying things like “you’re very mature for your age”, is someone to be avoided at all costs

I always tell those kids that the reason that adult thinks they're very mature is because that adult is actually incredibly and permanently immature. They will quickly outgrow the adult.
Like, I teach sex ed, I've had teens get their wires crossed because often it's the first time the topic has been addressed in a safe way. But they are very obviously children, as mature as a child is. If they seem mature, that's usually just trauma/ neurodiversity/ or both.
