I think about him and his jokes regularly. He just had a way of being able to predict how I would think or react and making his jokes extend or focus on that, which always impressed me. I’m picky when it comes to my comedy, like with the effort and level of intelligence or wit of the comedian. I like Stephen Colbert for that reason. But, I also like comedians whose humor doesn’t mostly comprise of jokes related to sex or bathroom humor.
Yeah... we've all heard of Attila the hun, Mao, Napoleon, fuckin Putin and Trump and others; definitely not 'Good guys' and never aspired to be, just the 'winners'.
History is written by the victor. The oppressed are often forgotten or deemed evil and problematic before being wiped out. Else, we may have more than a glancing account of what life was like for Aboriginal populations around the world
When I was a kid, 'What's Up, Tiger Lily?', was funny. But decades of watching MST3K, Kung Pow: Enter the Fist, and Stephen Chow films has made it boring.

#1 Of course it does. The winner never thinks of themselves as the bad guy.

Yep, just like Iran now, Afghanistan a couple of years ago, Vietnam a while back ....

Norm could testify in front of a judge for anything and he would sound exactly the same as in his standup.

#1 yes, but also no. Read more history books. Outside of school. You get a lot more gray.
Love Norm… cheers

I'm pretty sure that's the joke. History is always written by the winners, no matter what they won and how.

I think it takes a particular frame of mind, just like Norm Macdonald's humor. I've never found him funny, either.

Same. Same.

He's not really a comedy filmmaker. Or they're like new yorker cartoon funny, not adam sandler movie funny.

You gotta watch "the early funny ones".
