I like how most of these are people being absolutely, needlessly reckless while driving

The closest call I've ever experienced was teaching one day, two of my kids were late coming in from recess because they were playing under an old gum tree. I called them in and as they were running to the door, a huge branch, at big as a tree itself, crashed down exactly where they had been. No word of a lie, it missed them by 10 seconds. Absolutely frightening.

Timestamp 1:18 (0:50 imgur countdown player) With the crash on the bridge. That happened on the Clark Memorial Bridge over the Ohio River where Louisville, Kentucky and Jeffersonville, Indiana connect March 2024. To call that a close call, is completely lacking for what happened, vs a number of what is in the video.

Also 1:47 (0:21) totally looks like arson insurance fraud.

I had my car parked at a customer's house. Had to move it to another spot. Ten minutes later, a tree fell onto the house... three foot diameter trunk laid exactly where i had parked my car before I moved it.

Cameras are the problem. This shit always happens when a camera is nearby.

Can someone please tell me wherever all the random things are falling out of the sky is happening so I can never go there?

10 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Avoid the sky and the ground and you should be ok.

Survivorship bias -- Consider how many videos weren't included because it went much worse. The average outcome is worse.

10 months ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 4

The average outcome is not worse. Way more things fall without hitting people.

10 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Bias towards what? No one claimed these are typical outcomes.

10 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Consider how many dashcams weren't included because the occupants just drove to work and nothing happened. If you're saying the average outcome is worse you are taking an extremely specific subsample of 'clips which are crazy enough to get passed around social media' which is a totally opposite sort of 'survivor' bias.

I used to live near a "dangerous intersection" in a city, and while I never actually saw any accidents myself, I'd certainly seen the aftermaths of several. Definitely saw a decent number of close calls too, including a lady who technically got hit by a car, but it was going very slowly and she was more shook than hurt.

Do you know what I saw fucking thousands of though? Cars that passed through safely with no issue. It's alarming how easy it is to ignore such astonishing figures.

NSFW As someone that grew up next to a train crossing I have zero sympathy for the dipshits crossing a train track when a train is coming.

10 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Not gonna lie, guys, I don't like this video. Except for that dude running on top of all the snow sliding off that roof, that was pretty dope.

That was cool, although having a safety line of course helped to keep balance.

10 months ago | Likes 154 Dislikes 0

If that truck even bumped that front enough to set off the airbag, she'd be eating her own feet.
