I’ve been hit with so many canon balls in this game

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Which is kind of realistic. Many admirals and captains were turned into splattered lasagnas by cast iron bowling balls back then.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Lasagna you say???? Mmmmmmm

It was a lot of fun in beta but I felt like I have seen everything there. The features they promised didn't sound appealing either. Sadly.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Yep same here. At first sailing was cool. But now it’s like one long loading screen till you finally get to where you actually want to be.

The full version of this video is so damn good haha.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Sea of Thieves - pretty much an endless series of fetch quests... but at least the water is pretty. Sunk about 20hrs and got bored with it.

8 years ago | Likes 158 Dislikes 9

I love watching rooster teeth's streams of it, but feel no desire to buy it myself.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

It's such a tragic game. The experience is so unique and wonderful, yet it's like they forgot to make a video game underneath it all.

8 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 0

It's more of an experience than a game, which I'm not complaining about. I like loading up my boat and just sailing the open seas.

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

I played the beta and found it very relaxing just soloing on the little boat.

8 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Fetch quests dotted with sinking enemy ships whipe my wife and I yell pirate slang at them!

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

More like Sea of Griefs.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Maybe you should try not to sink then?

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

I play with friends and we just make our own fun. There's a lot to do if you have a sense of humor and creativity.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

There's a streamer on twitch (barny) who ignores the quests and acts like a real pirate, scamming the other players, killing and plundering.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

His trolling is quite hilarious.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Hehehe "sunk"

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Usually the ones who give up on the game are the ones who aren't very good at it...perhaps with friends you'd be better and they are bringin

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 3

Eh - we had a full galleon, wrecked everyone we encountered, fought the cracken, did raids. It just got monotonous after we reached that cap

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Idk. It's my number one game. I love spending time with it

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

More content into it along with weekly events in between its a base game with room to grow...good idea the only game I really play anymore

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's a game without the game parts unfortunately.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I sunk about an hour into it before I got so extremely motion sick. ive never gotten it with any other game before.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

I get motion sick all the time with fp games. I've learned making the field of view largest and turning off motion blur fixes my problem

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I need to get a new monitor i cant make the fov any bigger on any of my games because its a tv not a monitor so it doesnt work well

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I sunk my ship

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

The PvP is occasionally amazing, but you can sometimes go hours without a real encounter.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

Oh yeah mashing the trigger to do 1of 2 sword attacks or shooting each other with 1 of 3 guns that all react the same. Deep PvP for sure ~_~

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

I meant ship vs. ship, crew vs. crew. Obviously the individual gunplay won't stand up to a modern FPS.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

The individual anything won't stand up against any other game to be honest. Even the anchor is missing!

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Skull & Bones is going to kill this game

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 6

Yeah but isn't that a match-based game?

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

It'll kill Sea of Thieves in the same way Sea of Thieves killed Blackwake. Read: it didn't

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

It's a tech demo. They made fantastic water, hands-down best ever, but did not include actual gameplay.

8 years ago | Likes 90 Dislikes 1

Sounds like another game about exploring... cant quite hey my head space around it

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Also for some god damn reason they made character creation random.

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I passed up on the hot red head for a wirey old woman, thinking that favouriting her meant I could go back for her later. I could not.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yeah, true.... but dat water tho!

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Sea of Thieves water, GTAV world (with omitted details from IV, maybe expanded), BeamNG/NextCarGame damage models, Grass/foliage from *?*...

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Skyrim modding scene, Battlefield sound

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Just cobbling together ideas for a game combining all of those... which will never happen..

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Now if only another game could do the same with long hair and capes/trench coats.

8 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

Are you referring to another game, or is this your carnal desire?

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Assassin's Creed I imagine.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Bad move. You are the "T" being crossed. All of their guns bare and none of yours. Plus you are a longer target with more range.

8 years ago | Likes 488 Dislikes 5

Those who cross mr T are fools.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Say that tho Lord Nelson...

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

only 1890's kids will get this.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Might as well hope for the best and bring your starboard guns to bare to his aft, opp. to lingering there longer.

8 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

RAMMING SPEED

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I have read way to much Patrick O'Brien, Forrester, and somewhat ashamedly Bloody Jack to not have thought the same thing,

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm pretty sure this is what Nelson did to the Spanish & French armada.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Is there no ramming in this game?

8 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

There is. But it is generally a bad idea as if fucks up both ships. I still do it though. Because fun.

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I tend to be the helmsman for my ship and my captain always get mad when I ran people because I never tell him ahead of time.

and by the number of people who don't know the difference between 'bare' and 'bear'

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

They just don't have the right koalafications, tbh.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Eh, I learned this from assassin's creed black flag. It's pretty simple, can they shoot you? No? Can you shoot them? Okay good!

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Unless you're going for a ram, then this is primo tactics. But depending how many guns are being brought to bare that might not work anyway

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

depends on manning too; if they can patch the holes they'll get faster than you can patch your holes, it's a poor choice

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

but he can just ram them

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

In more modern ships, the one being broadside would be the one receiving the paddlin'

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

in more modern ships, missiles. If you were somehow in gun range, maybe, since most ships only carry a single gun now

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I was talking about ww1 and ww2 era

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

WWI and WWII still loved to cross the T. They had 1-2 guns that face forward, but some ships had 6-10 guns that faced broadside.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Being broadside made them a way easier target though

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Enfilade.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Dude. I got T'd on the starter island. I hadn't even figured out where my boat was.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Plus he got shot in the face with a cannon ball

8 years ago | Likes 517 Dislikes 2

Eh, tis but a flesh wound

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

8 years ago | Likes 43 Dislikes 0

Yeah that too

8 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

I don't get it

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

, in the days of sail there weren't many guns pointing forward

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Okay I figured it was like that. I was confused because I thought he was saying getting out of the T was a bad idea

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

but a decent ship of the line had upwards of 35 pointing sideways, so if you could get broadside on, you could rip them apart

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Once forward facing/rotating guns came the tactics reversed. In WWI & II you were asking to be sunk if you showed your broadside like that.

That's...exactly what snack said...

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

You made that up. Google "Battle of Leyte Gulf crossing the T". US battleships crossed Japanese and wrecked them, Oct 25 1944.

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Um, no. Completely false. A ship could only bring a few guns to bear fire and aft. Read the Pacific surface battles: still crossing the T.

8 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

Wouldn't the real danger be torpedoes and not forward guns? Making ships crossing the T more succeptable to sinking?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Torpedoes were incredibly unreliable at range, and the US ones were 60% duds. Destroyer and TB screens would charge ahead and engage.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Ian Toll has a few excellent books on this, or any about the cruiser battles around Guadalcanal. Everyone strove for full broadsides.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

A lot of this misinformation has come from how World of Warships plays

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

His point is you don't show a perfect 90 degree broadside. It's the absolute weakest angle for your armor. You go in just angled enough 1/2

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 3

that the rear turret(s) have an angle of fire, and turn toward the enemy while reloading. Full broadside exposes the citadel. 2/2

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 3

You can't "expose" the citadel. The whole idea of a citadel is to not have armor elsewhere. There would be no difference between a shell

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

Worked pretty well for Nelson though.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Was going to make this point to! When in doubt, go right at 'em.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I thought speed was a factor there. Didn't he go faster than they could adjust? Plus, they weren't expecting it.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Nelson deliberately broke standard tactics as he was as counting on poor discipline and gunnery from untrained French crews.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I've been playing Sea of Thieves since launch and absolutely noone I've encountered understands crossing the T, good show sir!

8 years ago | Likes 130 Dislikes 0

I learned about crossing the T from Sly Cooper 3

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Watching the A-Team growing up I was under the impression that crossing the T was a very bad idea.

8 years ago | Likes 35 Dislikes 0

Ive known about it for a while. Used it when playing the couch pvp ship battle minigame in Sly Cooper 3: Honor Among Theives.

8 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 1

Holy shit that minigame was awesome! Made a wannabe pirate out of me, must have played 25 hours of that alone.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

For about 9 months, it was our go-to couch game. Pirate talk was encouraged.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

rolling in money

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

'Battlegrounds', 'Sea Of Thieves', 'Battlefront 2'. This industry has some of the shittiest management in the professional world. Christ...

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Bah, learned that back in Puzzle Pirates.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Best to do it across the stern, of course, your shot sweeps through the weaker stern and guts the ship unobstructed by hull.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

... never made the ranging connection, though.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Seriously? That's naval tactics 101. I should get that game.

8 years ago | Likes 58 Dislikes 1

too expensive, too little content

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0
