Trump/FEMA reelected Michigan’s application for hazard mitigation assistance and public assistance category F (utilities). Michigan appealed and was denied. For those that don’t know, this is federal assistance under the Stafford Act. The same state agency that worked its ass off to get this assistance for people is about to get laid off because they’re 90% funded by federal grants that Michigan can’t accept due to the impossible conditions this regime puts on accepting them. We’re fucked.

No they're not "blaming" Whitmer, they're saying Trump is denying aid because Michigan is a "Democrat-run state" because it has a Democratic governor. Even though in the general, Michigan gave their EC votes to Trump (by 1.42%). I guess Trump won due to non-voters really but what did Michigan Trump voters think was going to happen if the state needed federal aid??

Imagine having (what Canada calls), crown corporations for utilities (energy, telecoms, etc). Would make things so much better. Sadly, in most of our provinces the Conservatives privatized them (almost) all. They ran a profit before. There should always be a public option along with private for anything that people need.
